I can't get my iPod touch to turn on. I have tried plugging in and resetting it but the screen remains black

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How can I get my ipod touch to turn on or to charge?

How can I get my ipod touch to turn on or charge?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • I can't get my ipod touch to turn on

I can't get my ipod touch to turn on. When I press the on button the apple icon shows up for a few seconds then turns off. I've charged it over night and even bought a new USB cord. Both Windows and iTunes do not recognize the device.

    - First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Connect to computer and it ITunes ees the iPod restore the iPod
    - Next see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPOd.  For recovery mode see:

  • TS4006 can i track my ipod touch using my serial numbers.  not sure if icloud is turned on..

can i track my ipod touch by using my serial numbers to locate it..not sure if icloud was activated

    Not with serial numbers, no.

The following conditions ALL have to be met:
    1) You have the "Find My" activated BEFORE you lose the device.
    2) The device is turned on.
    3) The device is able to connect to a registered wifi connection (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) or data network (iPhone, iPad).
    4) The device was not restored by a finder of the device (if it was really stolen then the thief has probably restored it).
If you have activated the "Find My" feature, go to https://www.icloud.com or use the Find My iPhone app - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8
Setting up iCloud (requires iOS5) - http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html - includes activating the 'Find My' feature.
Frankly in the case of a stolen iPod this almost never works. Report it to the police.  Change passwords on accounts.

  • Is there an app i can download for a ipod touch 4 that uses your camera instead of your screen for a flashlight

is there an app i can download for an ipod touch 4 that uses your camera instead of your screen

Since the iPod touch doesn't have an LCDflash like the iPhone any app that would turn on the LCD flash on the iPhone into a "flashlight" wouldn't work with the iPod.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recovery use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:

  • I can't restore my ipod touch

I can't restore my ipod touch, it says: error 21

Use the following steps to place your device into recovery mode. If the device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB cable to iPhone, the device should power on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
