Can't turn on/off wireless with Fn key in Ubuntu [NB250-10Q]
Hi,
I'm using a *NB250-10Q* with kUbuntu 10.10. It works great, but i'm having problems with Fn-F8 key to turn on/off wireless.
Some Fn keys are working well, like bridhtnes, sound... but Fn-F8 to turn on/off wireless is ignored.
I've read a lot about this problem, but none of the proposed solutions have worked to me.
Is anyone able to turn on/off wireless through Fn keys in linux?

Problem in the whole story is that your notebook was not designed for Linux and, as far as I know, Ubuntu is not supported OS so Toshiba doesnt offer any driver or Toshiba tools and utilities.
Generally speaking you are on your own. If Ubuntu works well, you are lucky but if there is some missing functionality, Im afraid you must live with it.
For Win7 Toshiba has designed Value added package that contains button support utility, flash cards and all FN options will be controlled by several different tools packed in this package.
Such VAP doesnt exist for Linux.
Try to ask some Linux specialists on Linux forums if there is some solution for this.

I would start your troubleshooting with the article below for issues of not being able to log in to your Mac. Start with booting up in to Safe Boot as well as resetting PRAM on your Mac. If that does not work, then verify the hard drive with booting to the Recover HD and go to Disk Utility to verify it.

Using Yosemite, I an't seem to work for more than a few minutes without being asked for my login password. Keychain wants it, Safari wants it, iCloud wants it..the list goes on. Then in 10 minutes or so, they all want it again. Passwords are being stored by Safari as usual, but new tabs or pages bring up the request. How can I turn this off and still have protection?
Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
3. Click the "First Aid" tab
4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
5. Close the Preferences window
6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
7. Enter your username and password
8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
"New Keychain"
7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.

Do I need to turn on iCloud Backup to,store data? Can I turn it off again so it is not on automatic and will resume syncing with iTunes?
You don't have to turn on iCloud backup to sync data with iCloud, but you do if you want to back up to iCloud. (You sync data with iCloud by going to Settings>iCloud and turning the data you want to sync with your iCloud account to On, and choosing Merge to upload your data.)
Also, backing up to iCloud does not prevent you from sycing with iTunes. All it does is cause your iPad to be automatically backed up to iCloud instead of automatically backing up to your computer each time you sync. And even if you are automatically backing up to iCloud, you can always manually back up to your computer using iTunes at any time by connecting your iPad to your computer, clicking on the name of your iPad in iTunes, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sycn settings, and clicking on Back Up Now.
You can, of course change back to automatically backing up to your computer using iTunes at any time as well. -
I just bought macbook pro with 10.8.3 os. When i start the system, all applications automatically start up as well! How can I turn them off. I checked the user settings and no application is set tom open automatically!

My ipad2 (2 years old) will not turn on at all, with home key, or power on key, or both at same time. I just updated to 7.0.4 and there is a passcode, but my screen is blank and I can't turn it on.
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created. -
In Piano Roll, double click on note opens List editor. CAN I TURN THIS OFF?
While editing in the Piano Roll Editor, double clicking on a note opens up the List Editor.
CAN I TURN THIS OFF?I realize that it is my way of working that causes the editor to open up. When I work fast and with the zoom out a little to far, some times when trying to move a note it fails to move and when I try to move it again the List Editor opens up. I am very set in my ways after 20 years of non linear and 30 years of midi programming. I was just surprised that this is not a preference.
I really don't want to slow down my double click settings. I like them fast to avoid this very thing, false double clicking. Maybe I'll try making them faster.
Does anyone know where the support Feedback is located? I would love to request another pref be added.

Can you turn on/off aliases wih iCloud
With iCloud can you turn on/off email aliases you have created in .mac and mobileme?
If you can't, can you delete the aliases in iCloud that you cannnot now delete in mobileme?You can handle aliases in exactly the same way as on MobileMe except that you are allowed only three (though if when you migrate you have four or five you won't lose any of them).

Pages for Ipad freezes when I try to delete a document. Documents start to flash on and off. Can't turn app off, or turn Ipad off.
FWIW, think I found a solution to this problem elsewhere on this forum. Go to Settings / General / Accessibility on your iPad. Check to see if you have enabled "Bold Text" and if so turn that off. The iPad now restarts. In my case (and others) things are now back to normal with iWorks file management functions.
I can now rename files, delete them, and do other file management tasks in all iWorks apps on iPad without the apps freezing or freezing the iPad. Would like to give credit to the user who posted that but can't find it at the moment - he claimed that an Apple Tech suggested the fix when he called about it, so they know about it and hopefully will get fixed eventually. -

I recently downloaded iTunes 8. For some reason I can't turn the shuffle feature off. I select Controls, Shuffle, Turn Shuffle Off and nothing happens. It stays selected. How do I turn this off?
BTW, iTunes 8 is NOT an improvement over vs. 7. 7 was much better. I don't know why companies like this have to goof around with things that already work and change them just for the purpose of making them different.Can you turn shuffle off using the icons at bottom left of the iTunes window?
iTunes was updated to work with the new generation of iPods that came out a few months ago. If you don't have one of those, there is no need on your part and no insistence on Apple's part that you update the software. -
All my contacts use iPhones but one doesn't use iMessage because it uses data. I want to use iMessage for other contacts but i have to turn off for just one contact. Can I turn iMessage off for just one contact?
You need to delete here conversation and start another one using her phone number and not her Apple ID. You cannot delete iMessage, you can disable it. If the Apple server still sees her iPod with iMessage on and using her Apple ID, then it will continue to appear to your phone that she has iMessage. She needs to take a look at this support document about permanently disabling iMessage for her account. Can’t receive text messages on a non-Apple phone

Since update, all songs have been deleted and i can't turn ipod off. HELP!!
since update, all songs have been deleted and i can't turn ipod off!! I updated the itunes software last week and the next time I synced the ipod, it immediately deleted all songs. After further investigation, i realized that my songs are still in itunes. Under the music tab, it shows the capacity and the content of the ipod. It used to have 4 gb of audio on there and now it have no audio and 4 gb of 'other' files. what does this mean? i can still see the songs in the library list, but i can't even make a playlist with them. When I click on playlist, nothing happens. Also, I can't turn the ipod off since the update. Please send any advice my way.
