Can't turn on WiFi on Windows 8 -- X131e 3372-2VU

I did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, because I didn't want any bloatware. And now I can't, for the life of me, turn on WiFi. The function key combo (Fn + F5) to turn it on does not work, so I just can't turn it on through the OS.
I tried installing these drivers (all of them support my model):
Hotkey Features Integration: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gevu44ww.exe
ThinkPad Wireless LAN driver: http://support.lenovo.com/en_AE/downloads/default.page?selector=expand
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome,
Here's a place to check:
Bring up Settings charm. At the bottom it says "Change PC Settings". That looks like the title of the settings above (to me) but it's a link. Click it. Then click "wireless" on the left.

  • NB - FN keys doesn't work so I can't turn on WiFi on Windows 7

I cannot turn wireless on because FN-F8 doesn't work on Windows 7. Anyone could help me solve this problem?
Is it possible to remove Windows 7 and reinstall Windows XP again? (I formated drive C before setting up Windows 7) Now, I don't know how to remove Windows 7 and reinstall window xp.
Thank you very much for your helps in advance.

Hello. I'm new to the forum but have the same old problem. I had performed a smooth "free" upgrade to Windows 7 and was contented until I tried to lock the computer using FN+F1. After numerous installs of Toshiba Value Added Pack (all versions), TOSHIBA Assist and Toshiba Flash Cards, I've reached a dead end with nowhere to go. In TOSHIBA Assist I have also tried the OPTIMIZE -> TOSHIBA Hardware Settings : Button Settings : Function Button ->' Enabled' but it does not seem to keep itself checked (after a restart I find 'Disabled' checked instead)
This is really beginning to grind my gears. ANY help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated =)

Deveice manager says ithe device works propery. And the driver is correctly installed. But I can't turn on from windows mobility centre or network setting.
It's very embarrassing to post something like this but I need your help.
P.S. this is the first time I post on this thread but who answers? Toshiba support team?
    Thanks,

I have the same problem. Does anyone cope with it? Have my wifi disabled can't switch it on, tried to reinstall it nothing work.
Have it installed and work correctly thru device manager. Wifi can't be enabled and find network, all other devices are working properly. Access point have no limitation or something else in their settings.
Windows diagnostic can't resolve this issue. Shows that "wifi is still disabled on this computer" FN+F8 doens't wotk too.
Any help are more then wellcome.

Have you tried pressing the round button and the on/off switch at the top at the same time and holding them till an Apple icon appears?  If that doesn';t work, take it back, you are still under warranty.

  • I can't turn my WiFi Off??

This seems stupid, because most people complain the other way around
My laptop has a WiFi button (not switch) that turns a led on/off according to the WiFi state. The thing is...I can't turn the damn led off!!
This isn't really an issue, because most of the time I'm using my wireless, but sometimes it's handy to turn it off so I can save some battery when I'm studying and don't need an internet connection.
This button used to work about 2 months ago, before I sent my laptop for repair (turns out they gave me a new one because of the delay, but that's a different story), and now I did a fresh Arch install and I have this little...err...bug?
    What could this be?
    Thanks

I already checked dmesg and nothing happens. It works with Vista, so...
