Can't turn-on wireless.

Whoa……what happened? My 2yr-2mo old T61p has performed flawlessly until yesterday. Started auto shut downs, then freeze-ups. Thought I had a virus but couldn’t scan for some reason.
Called Norton and confirmed my account still valid. Couldn't explain inability to virus scan and suggested updating to their last release.
Began that process via DSL but then lost all ability to connect….wireless now off and will not turn on & can’t connect via Ethernet either. The net is fine, other devices are working.
Opened w/ last known good config. but still getting freeze-ups and no communications….all communications icons have red x’s and unable to roll back to prior drivers....none now exist.??
Anyone successfully overcome anything similar? Reinstall communications drivers is my 1st thought to reinitiate the Norton u'grade however I didn’t get the discs when I bought new from Lenovo.

go into your recovery console, by click on the blue thinkvantage button during startup, then select hardware diagnose, which should take into dos version of the pc-doctor diagnostic software, now a run check on the wireless card.
Also, download TPfancontrol, and check what temperature your laptop reaches, i think your laptop is overheating.
To confirm this diagnose, download the Prime95, and run it and see whether that can cause your laptop shutdown again.

Not sure if this is the right place for the post, if not I apologies in advance.
I have a Compaq Presario C700 (C730EM) on which the hard drive died on me, I brought a new one and installed Windows vista premium from disk (not a backup / recovery disk).
All seems fine however I can not turn on the wireless, the C700 has a wireless button on the top left hard side (which has a red LED when not on). Normally you push this and it turns on (turns LED Blue) but nothing!
I have commented wired and updated windows etc. and have tired to find wireless driver which I guess I’m missing? Not sure if it’s wireless driver missing or a keyboard driver?
After installing a few drivers which I thought where right no joy!
Can anyone help?

CAN NOT TURN ON WIRELESS RADIO

Wold you help me please? Mine's a V200. I can not remember what happened but I can not turn on the wireless radio on. It says the hardware is turned on (the switch is always on), but when I press Fn5 and click ON, nothing happens. Is there a software I may have accidentally removed?

If you want to enable WLAN card you must move WLAN switch to position ON and then use FN+F8 key combination to enable WLAN card.
I don't know what do you mean with your last posting but if you install Vista again the WLAN card will be installed properly and must be shown in device manager.
When finished do what I wrote and I am pretty sure the WLAN card will be enabled properly.

I have BT home hub which is now my main router in the house. I also have Apple TV which works off the router and a network adapter around the house which is perfect for all my needs. However, I also have a time machine but haven't used it for a while now as it's internal router overrides my current network which causes problems.
Being that i'm not very 'technical' I was hoping someone could give me a 'guide for dummies' instruction on how to turn off the wireless signal inside my time capsule without messing up the BT router?

Sorry, just to clarify, I need to connect the ethernet cable to my home hub and my TC first before i can do this?
And once i've done this will my stuff be backed up via the cable or wireless?
I know these are probably very stupid questions but like I said, i'm a div when it comes to this stuff!

Can't turn off wireless-home screen disappeared

Printer worked fine for 2 years, but all of a sudden the home screen offering the different menus disappeared and printer comes up with scan screen with wireless light on, even though we don't have wireless, printer set up w/and connected via USB, and wireless turned off on Mac settings. Error messages sent for scan-I disconnected all, powered all off and restarted but still the same. When try to open HP set up in applcations, error message says not connected, but it is, and can print document from document itself. Help!

UR bright Neon!!!! Think it was the plug into a surge protector, but it had been there for a while too...but when I took the plug out and placed directly into outlet, Voila! the home screen came back-gotta keep that in mind-thanx SOOOO much! I was ready to buy another all-in-one. Until next bat time, (and somehow I believe there will b a next time:-( )

How can I turn of Wireless Diagnostics?

Hello. I have a MacBook that is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and my only concern/question is regarding the Wireless Diagnostics. I think I turned it on when I was having difficulty getting online on vacation. Now that I'm home, I don't need it any more. But every time I restart my computer it automatically pops up with the desktop.
How can I make it go away? Not forever, just until I need it again?

Can't turn on wireless capability!

Ok so recently my laptop was repaired, apparently something was wrong with the BIOS or OS (same thing? I don't know). After I got my laptop back the fn menu stopped coming up and evertime I push fn f8 to turn on the wireless nothing happens. I can put the laptop to sleep and dim and brighten the screen with the fn button without a problem. Someone please help me!
Is there any way to turn on the wireless capability without using the fn key?
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5965.

If the 'Flash Cards' don't appear at the top of the screen when you hit the 'Fn' key, then click the 'Start' button and type the word flash in the search field. In the programs that appear at the top, you should see 'Restart Flash Cards' and 'Settings for Flash Cards'. First, click on 'Restart Flash Cards', then again click on 'Start' and type in the word flash in the search field. This time click on 'Settings for Flash Cards', and make sure there is NOT a check mark on 'Disable all function keys', click 'Apply' and 'OK'. Then try the Function key/Flash cards + your F8 key again.
If the above doesn't work download this file to your desktop, and double click to install it, and reboot. You do not mention if you are still running Vista 32bit, or if you have upgraded to a Vista or Win7 64bit edition, so only download the appropriate file.

T40/Vista: Fn+F5 can't turn Wifi On/Of

After upgrading to Vista on my T40 (2373-92G) I can't turn the wireless antenna on/of with the Fn-F5 keys.
It only toggles the Blutooth on/off.
How can I restore this function?

So I can't use ThinkVantage Access Connections.
I've now installed an update of the HotKey driver for Vista (2.08.2008).
It now seem to work just as it should for Bluetooth, but reports that Wireless is OFF even when it's on, and trying to turn it on hangs the program/driver...
Suggestions?

I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, can't join existing wireless network with AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC wifi turned off. How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. working fine with TM

I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, I just found out that it can't join existing wireless network with new AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC's wifi turned off. How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. It is working fine with TM. My cheeper seagate drives etc kept crashing, so i didnt trust cheeper back up options anymore. Connected those drives to TM via firewire and could see the drives and access them.
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed. I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc. I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast. Getting over 50mbs downloads and over 30mbs uploads. Plus everything in my home it connected to my fios router, airport express for music streaming, two apple tvs, vuezone camer system. I really didn't want to monkey around too much with my system. But are there other options to connect the new TC. Can't find info anywhere for this and called apple who gave me the info above. after hanging up, i see that i cant access my TC and I am wondering if i would have to reset it to turn wifi on again to make changes to the drive, turn off blinking light or repair it in disk utility if it should become corrupted.
For other with similar issues i did solve some other problems: when i connected it to my ethernet port on my iMac wifi stopped working. Found that I had to turn off the ethernet in the system>network screen, but then TM didn't see the TC so i restarted after changes and then it saw it.
Now a rant. I can't believe in this wireless age that Apple would make a product that cant join a wireless net work. The apple rep said i could return it and look for the previous TC that would join an existing wireless network. Are we going backwards?

Ok... it is getting a bit clearer but there are still some questions.
I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast.
I was assuming airport in this statement in your first post meant the TC or the Express.. but I now realise we are still in the mass confusion stage where apple calls everything wireless an airport. So what you mean is the airport internal card of the computer??

I think this is mistaken.
Putting the TC in bridge mode plugged into your FIOS will not slow the network.. nor will it cause mail or port issues.. in bridge the TC is just a fancy WAP and switch plus the network hard drive.
If the computer is close it will be faster than the FIOS.
You can run both wireless networks with different names.. so it is clear which is which. But you can also setup roaming so the computers themselves pick which is the best wireless.
I tried extending the wireless net work and tried joining wireless network, but the TC kept crashing and I had to keep resetting the TC. the Apple support person said these, extend wireless network and joint wireless network, are no longer a connection option with the new TC because of the new AC protocol.

You cannot extend to a non-apple wireless router.
You cannot use join a wireless network because when you do the ethernet ports will be cut off.
But that has not changed.. I don't think Apple support is correct.. there has been no change with the AC model.. it is simply a fact that apple routers do not work in join wireless mode other than as a dumb client. The same applies to AC as to the earlier version.. but I have asked another person to check this.
Join in the express is the only apple router that still allows an ethernet connection.
For now you best use of the TC is bridged to the FIOS. Wireless you can sort out between several options.

You may not have a wireless network adapter.
If it is not in Network Adapters and you have no Device Manager errors or disabled devices under Network Adapters then that would be the case.

Yes, you can. Just open the web interface of the router. On your browser type the IP address of your router, usually http://192.168.1.1 go to wireless tab and disable it.
