Can't type email

My brother just got a new iPod touch and the email is not working right. When you go to send a new email the keyboard does not come up so you can not add any words to it. We tried taping all around the screen but nothing is working. Any ideas?

I think I figured it out. I had to reset the "Keyboard Dictionary" and I can type now.

  • EMAIL-CAN NOT TYPE IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL

    I can not type on the body of my email through comcast SmartZone.  I am using Internet Explorer 9 and from my comcast home page when I access my email and try and compose an email or reply there is no where to type the body of the email.  When I go to the Comcast help page where it has Comcast Customer Central it looks distorted like you are looking at with double vision.  When I am trying to compose an email it has everything except the body to type on, it is all gray in that area and then at the bottom of the page it has the reply etc just like at the top of the page.  Also when I am on my smartzone at home versus at work it looks different.  Like on my email at home the first button is refresh and here at work it is new?? I have contacted Comcast and they were able to login to my email and had not problems.  So I do think it is a setting but I do not know where to even start. Please help,

    It could be a compatability issue between IE9 and the Comcast
    email website. Try it in compatibility view in the IE9 browser.
    You might also want to use or create another email account
    using another service like gmail as a test to see what happens.

  • How do I create a contact group so that I can send an email to several contacts without having to type individual names.

    How do I create a group in my contacts so I can send an email to several people without having to type names individually? In gmail on my computer I have several groups of contacts but I don't see them on my iPad air.

    In the contacts app there really isn't a way to do this.  What I do however, is create a note in the Notes App with the email addresses of the people I want to email to like this:  [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]
    Then when I want to email that group, I just use the copy feature of iPad, pasted it into the to line in an email and voila, I can email to a group.

    I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage.  Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever.  After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed.  They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself.  After that, the pics go over imessage.  My own Iphone didn't have the problem.  We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

    Reset your phone by holding down the home button with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go. Try it again.

  • Can not type in the body of email program & reply button does not work.

    I installed 10.4 (Family Pack) on my G4 400 and after a few days the email program does not work as it originally did. The reply button no longer works. (It did for a few days.) Additionally on a new mail or mail forward. I can not type in the body of the email after the first word. It just beebs at me. (It did work as normal for a few days.) I can still receive and can send mail. I have also installed this Family pack on my iMac flat panel G4 and have no mail problems. That mac is about 200 mile from this location. Before I installed 10.4 I was using 10.3.9 and mail was ok. I use high speed internet with the iMac and use dialup with the G4.

    I've lost track of what computer you have where, and I don't understand why you keep installing buggy OS X 10.4.0 on systems that worked fine under OS X 10.3.9, without being able to update to install system updates afterwards.
    That said, you may want to look at this web site for general Mac OS X troubleshooting tips:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html
    In particular, since I know of other people with the same problem as you that fixed it deleting caches, you may want lo look these two pages:
    Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
    Side effects of System cache cleaning
    In addition to some utilities mentioned there for cache cleaning, you may also consider OnyX, if for no other reason, because it's free:
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
    Although utilities such as OnyX allow you to clean many caches with just a click of the mouse, I'd recommend to be as selective as possible and clean them up one at a time, to try to identify which exactly is causing your problems, if any. This information, in turn, could be useful for other users. I'm pretty sure some Mail problems are related to cache issues, but I don't yet know which cache exactly is the culprit here (since it was not the Mail cache, I would say that the fonts cache should be next in the list).

  • Can't send email from Mac MAIL

    I am setting up my new MacBook -- specifically the Mac MAIL, and intend to include a yahoo account and my new mac.com account.
    So far, through Mac MAIL, I am able to send and receive email with my mac.com account, but can only receive email on my yahoo account. When I try to send an email from the yahoo account through Mac Mail, I get an error message about the outgoing server. (btw, no trouble if I go through the Safari browser to yahoo, which is why yahoo phone assistant gave up trying).
    BUT.....the outgoing server settings are correct, as per my review and the yahoo phone assistant. Still, no luck.
    Anyone had this problem? Thanks for any advice.

    Kappy,
    Am I reading it correctly that you’re suggesting the OP to set up his/her Yahoo account again?
    You should never, ever, set up two accounts in Mail with the same Account Type, User Name and Incoming Mail Server. For each account, Mail creates a folder within ~/Library/Mail/ whose name starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the username and the incoming mail server. Having two accounts sharing the same account folder in Mail is calling for trouble. Amongst other problems, deleting one of the accounts would cause the (shared) account folder to be deleted as well, and all the mail stored there to be lost...

  • Thunderbird can't send email to addresses in Address Book because of formatting error

    My Thunderbird can't send email to an address picked from the Address Book. It gives the following error:
    "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.1 <"name@telconame"@telco.com> Unknown recipient. Please check the message recipient "name@telconame"@telco.com and try again."
    You can see that Thunderbird has garbled the name/address pair: "name@telconame"@telco.com" so that it's unworkable.
    If I type the email address by hand, it sends the email OK. But it can't retrieve an address from the Address Book without garbling the name/address pair. Win 7, TBird Version 32.0; it's the same in SafeMode.
    Any ideas?

    Make two Address Book entries for him; one for each of his e-mail addresses. Make a new Address Book group and put both of his entries in it. When you send him an e-mail just type in the name of the group in the To: field.

  • I can't open email attachments on my ipad that have an arrow on them.  Those with a W open just fine. Also can't open jpeg files-- they also have an arrow on them. Any ideas?

    Hi, I can't open email attachments that have an arrow on them. Attachments with a W (windows) open just fine. I have an ipad 3. Thanks for any ideas.

    Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
    This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

    // consult MAILSEND in here: https://github.com/muquit/mailsend and download the app 'mailsend.exe' for windows7 in here:
    // https://github.com/muquit/mailsend/releases/download/1.17b15/mailsend1.17b15.exe.zip
    // unzip it and put the app .exe where you want to use it.
    // I have tested using Bridge to send e-mail using my gmail e-mail account and it works. I only needed to
    // I needed to send e-mails from Bridge using my google account, but first I needed to put on my network the app 'mailsend.exe'(i'm using PCs windows7 , CS6 and a network)
    // All my 20 people team is using it, so I decided to put the app 'mailsend.exe' on a common place on network. I you are using it only on 1 PC you don't need you can put it on its disk.
    // Solution: All you need is to create a bat file that tells 'mailsend.exe' what to do:
    var mailsendBat=File(Folder.temp +"/mailsendBat.bat"); // creates a bat file on the temporary folder
    mailsendBat.open("w")
    // the place where app 'mailsend.exe' file is
    mailsendBat.writeln('"X:\\[someFolder]\\mailsend.exe" \^');
    // my gmail
    mailsendBat.writeln('-t [email protected] -f [email protected] \^');
    // the title can have encoding or not (-enc-type "base64")
    mailsendBat.writeln('-cs "utf-8" -mime-type "text/plain" -enc-type "base64" -sub "Ich lerne seit ungefähr zwei Jahren Deutsch" \^');
    // this works for the smtp gmail
    mailsendBat.writeln('-starttls -port 587 -auth -smtp smtp.gmail.com -user "[email protected]" -pass "[myPassword]" \^');
    // If I want to send an image attachment I use this 1, 2, or more times. If content-type is "multipart/mixed" the inline images don't work. Instead the images will be sent as attachment.
    mailsendBat.writeln('-content-type "multipart/mixed" -attach "C:\\Users\\Public\\imagens\\myImage.jpg" \^');
    // this is the line to send a simple text line with no encoding specified
    mailsendBat.writeln('-enc-type "none" -mime-type "text/plain" -M "one line attachment 1" \^');
    // you can sen inline html that can also have links to inline images
    mailsendBat.writeln('-mime-type "text/html" -enc-type "none" -M "<b>this is a test</b><br><img src="http://[any_online_image.jpg],image/jpeg,i">" \^');
    // sending text line with special encoding
    mailsendBat.writeln('-cs "utf-8" -mime-type "text/plain" -enc-type "base64" -M "Ich lerne seit ungefähr zwei Jahren Deutsch" \^');

  • Can't type onto an existing pdf

    I have had an existing PDF emailed to me from someone that I need to work off of and add to, I can't type onto it and I cannot open it in my pages program.  Does anyone know how to do this?

    There is also pdfPen http://smilesoftware.com/PDFpen/index.html but it does cost. I have used it and it works. It does have a trial version you can check out.
    I think the original intent was that it was a way to share docs on any platform, without editing software as such (of course you need a viewer). But the strength is also the weakness when you want to edit. Seems there are some free editors referenced in earlier threads. You can Google free pdf editors or some such wording.

  • In Mail 7.3 on my Retina MacBook Pro on OS 10.9.4, how can I type from the keyboard into a mail message using the Apple Symbols font?

    In Mail 7.3 on my Retina MacBook Pro on OS 10.9.4, how can I type from the keyboard into a mail message using the Apple Symbols font?
    When I select the Apple Symbols font from the list accessed from under Format/"Show fonts"/collection-all fonts/Apple Symbol, and then continue typing, I get normal letters, if in a slightly different font.
    How can I type using the Apple Symbol font?  I want to use that font to include keyboard and cursor selections of actual screen symbols to help write easily understood explicit computer lesson emails to my 92 year-old mom from a few hundred miles away.

  • Can't receive emails with Sympatico

    I have 2 email accounts with Bell Sympatico. The owner account is functioning fine; the 2ndary account no longer can receive email, but can still send. I get a message saying
    "the POP server POP6.sympatico.ca"rejected the password for 'b1...' please re-enter your password or cancel."
    I can still send emails, and interestingly, I can access the mail from this particular account with the webmail at Sympatico/MSN. I have changed NO settings; all I did Monday was to upgrade from the old 'getEmail' to the new one with more storage (MSN/Sympatico). I've tried POP1, POP2, POP3, you get the idea. Nothing. tried their other suggestion of:
    8. Under My incoming mail (POP3) server, type in : pophm.sympatico.ca
    9. Under My outgoing mail (SMTP) server, type in : smtphm.sympatico.ca
    (In spite of me making it painfully clear I was on a Mac with Apple Mail, I got suggestions for Outlook, etc...) sigh
    I've talked to sympatico on the phone (from India...)tried their suggestion. Nothing. Should I delete the account and re-create it?
    I am tearing my hair out. Yes, there is that clumsy webmail workaround, but I want things to work properly, and the Sympatico worker bees are 8000 miles away...Suggestions?

    I know that Sympatico have 2 type of e-mails:
    the "old ones" that have the same settings since Sympatico started 10 years ago. Here are the information would need to setup your Symaptico e-mail in Mail:
    Username: b1**##
    Password: access password
    Incoming mail (POP3): pop6.sympatico.ca
    Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp1.sympatico.ca
    Port server 25 for Outgoing (SMTP)
    Port server 110 for Incoming (POP3)
    The other Sympatico e-mail is the enhance one with MSN. The settings are differents and the authentification is different. Any new Sympatico accounts since June 2004 are on that new plaform. Here are the information would need to setup Mail:
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: e-mail password
    Incoming mail (POP3): pophm.sympatico.ca
    Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtphm.sympatico.ca
    Verify that your server is set to requires anthentiation with agin your Sympatico e-mail and Sympatico password;
    Both servers, Outgoing and Incoming, require a secure connection (SSL)
    If you are not sure witch is what try to login online at: http://www.sympaticomail.sympatico.ca it will tell you if can upgrade to new enhance e-mail or if you sign in like a Hotmail account if you are already enhance.
    I hope this help....
    Cheers
