Can't type in passwords

Using IE11 Windows 7 on a desktop and since the last updates most (not all) sites will allow me to type in my user name but
not the password. When I hit the keys nothing appears in the password panel. Any ideas please?

Hi,
Did the password inbox appear? Did you install any third-party antivirus?
If yes, please disable it temporarily for test.
If the issue still persists, please view your update history, find out the last update to unistall it.
1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
2. In the left pane, click View update history.
Another easier solution is using system restore to roll back to the previous correct point.

I can't type my password in to log in after dowloading adobe flash

    Back up all data.
Take the steps suggested in this support article:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: "There was an error processing registration" when signing in
The time zone must be correct for your location.
Make sure you know your ID (an email address) and password. The password should be in your keychain, which you access in the Keychain Access application.
    Sign out of iMessage:

Then sign back in with your verified credentials.
If you get the same error, try resetting the NVRAM.

  • Wireless keyboard connected but can't type in password

I updated from an iOS 10.8 to 10.9 recently after my hard drive crashed and had to get replaced. I have connected the wireless keyboard connected but I can't type in certain key letters. I can only type in numbers and the middle set of letters. The other letters which I can't type into as my password.

    Hello amandateavy,
It sounds like your bluetooth keyboard is connected but only some of the keys on it work. I recommend starting by performing a PRAM reset, and then booting to Safe Boot:
    About NVRAM and PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information.
    And:
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), follow these steps.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
To leave Safe Mode, restart your computer without holding any keys during startup.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • SOS!!! can not type username/password with heart symbol () to login with keyboard.

My child accidentally added heart symbol (♥) in username, and now I can not login into my macbook air as I can not type the ♥ symbol with keyboard. apple tech service said no such experience before.

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • Keys broke, can't type my password, able via Computer?

    Hello guys!
I sadly lost one of the best phones today... Half of my keyboard (the right side) is not working anymore...
But, because my password has letters from everywhere, I couldn't type in my password, realised it too late and now there is one try left..
As life plays, I was thinking about doing a backup recently, but now it's too late. I would lose a lot of data, especially my notes.
So, my question is: is it possible to connect my phone to my computer and transfer the data?
I know the password, it's just I can't type it in..
I so hope you can help me!
I wish you a great day wherever you are!
    Greetings from Paris!

Hello tinky87 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Yes, you can use the Desktop Software to make a backup of your device date.
Note: If you used numbers in your password and didn't hold ALT each time, it would be the letter that corresponds for the password, not the number - for example 123456 would correspond to wersd on the computer keyboard).
    Hope this helps!

  • Keyboard has stopped working - can't type in password

    Help!
I recently downloaded a patch so that I could open Word 2008 documents (I have Word 2004 for Mac). A couple of hours after, my keyboard froze and now I can't get into my computer! I can't touch anything as I keep getting asked for the password but I can't type it in!
The mouse still moves and the caplock light can be turned on and off so I don't think it is a physical problem with the keyboard.
I've tried using my brothers wireless keyboard and attaching connections via USB but no success.
    Any advice please?!

Try this procedure http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 to reset PRAM/NVRAM
If that does not solve your problem, in addition, try resetting SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Can't type my passwords correctly

    Hi everyone,
I'm using an US international keyboard and almost all of my passwords contain this ^ symbol, but when i type it in the password field (using shift+2 then backspace, otherwise something like this â comes out) and confirm it always tells me that I wrote the wrong password. Is there a way to type this character correctly or will I have to change almost all of my passwords?

If it's always been that way those characters and special key combinations must not be supported.  What you may have to do is continue copying and pasting so you can log in to those sites and then change the password to one that doesn't use those special characters. I use a 3rd party app, Password Assistant, to create passwords that are long, more easily remembered (using the memorable option) and strong:
I just keep clicking  on Memorable till I get one that is easier to remember.  I also substitute back slash for some characters like the '.

  • I updated my iPod, and now I can't type my password.

I updated my iPod to ios 7, and when it was done updating, I had to type in my password and I couldn't. I had my password in Greek, so nobody would get it, and when my iPod updated, it deleted my Greek keyboard. And, I don't have a backup.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup. You shuld be able to make a backup if you previously synced with this computer.
    iOS: How to back up
Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

  • Suddenly I can't type my password into my ipad to unlock it. What has happened?

Went to bed. Got up and now the keyboard comes up but won't do anything.  Could it be that one of the kids has tried to enter my password wrongly or is there another explanation?

    Hi 60mic,
Try resetting your iPad: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (no data will be lost). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your keyboard is responsive.
    Cheers,

  • I can't type my password the letters switched places, what shall I do, for example I get '_' instead of '*'. Please help!

Then, after I log in everything's fine again, so changing anything in system preferences doesn't really help. What can I do?

You could use Boot Camp to install Windows (XP or better) on your MBP. That would require a retail Windows install disk. After installing you can choose which OS you want to use at start up.
There are other solutions what will let you run Windows concurrently (at the same time) with Mac OS. The most common are VMware Fusion and Parallels. Both are commercial Mac apps. I believe there is an open source app that is similar but somewhat more cumbersome. Bootcamp is free - it comes with every Mac. VMware and Parallels cost in addition to the cost of a Windows install disk.
    Hope this helps.

What year and model of MacBook Pro do you have?  I'm wondering if the factory installed battery is failing due to age or use.  A MacBook Pro battery can be recharged about 300 times before it becomes unuseable.  Is this possibly the problem?
    Hope this helps
