Can't type in text

I'm stuck trying to input text in Live Type. Every key that I appear as a dot and reproduces an image I used in my last project. I'm not sure how I've activated this mode so need your help to get out.

If you are seeing a dot like this: • your text track is not selected.
• is placed for elements in your composition that are not part of a font, such as a graphic, object or background. Pressing any key allows these elements to be "typed".

Yoga 13 MSIE10 can't type into text fields

New machine Feb 2013 used exclusively in laptop mode. Has been great overall but right out of the box I could not type text into any form fields using Internet Explorer 10. What an intro to Windows 8! Discovered I can type text in notepad, then copy and paste it into fields but cannot enter it directly. This was happening with the factory installed software so if it's a third party app conflict it's one that's original equipment. Thankfully Chrome works fine, but sometimes I need to use MSIE and am quickly reminded why I can't.
Google and Lenovo forums are mum on this subject. Some suggestions pointed to SFC /scannow, which came up with a litany of things it couldn't fix. Enhanced protected mode in MSIE also did not help. Didn't appear possible to reinstall MSIE (where's the DOJ when you need them?) What's next? Thank you all for your assistance.

Welcome to the Forums.
Are you having this issue on the desktop version of I.E. or the Metro version?
- if the issue only happens on the metro IE, try to open the Desktop I.E. > press ALT+T > choose Internet options. On the Internet Options, go to the Programs Tab, set I.E. to Always and check the box "Open Internet Explorer tiles on the desktop"

Alternatively, if the issue is compatibility between the website and the I.E. versions, you can run I.E. 10 in compatibility mode or on a lower version (i.e. I.E. 9, I.E. 8., ...etc.). To do this:
1. Open the Desktop I.E. and press F12
2. On the developer tools, choose Browser Mode IE 10 and choose an I.E. version (i.e. IE 9)

3. When dnoe, press F12 again and observe if you can now type into text fields.

I can't type bold-text in Japanese using HTMLEditor

I am using JAVAFX to develop tool.
While I create a screen of HTMLEditor in eclipse,
It does not be "bold-text" when I enter Japanese, although I'm pressing the "Bold-button".
At this moment, I'm choosing the font, MS Gothic, PGothic,
it does not be bold either.
I can type English in bold-text, but I can't type bold-text in Japanese.
I appreciate if you tell me the reason why this thing happens.
Is this kind of a "bug" in the HTMLEditor?
Or somekind of setting problem?

Periodically can't type in text field

We just rolled out 9 new Mac Minis and all are having this problem, but I don't know if it's the hardware of the OS (10.5.1). All users are complaining about this, though older machines are not exhibiting this problem.
When they are working in various programs (but all are PPC binaries), suddenly they can not type in a text field (i.e., in a cell in Excel or in a text or number field in Quickbooks). The solution is to click outside the current field, then click back into the field and they can type again. But it happens enough to be very annoying.
I called Apple support and they claim to never have heard of this problem (but then they always say that even when a fix appears on the 'net later that day).
Any ideas?

I have a similar problem and it is ******* me off.
I bought IK multimedia ARC and on my powerbook G4 running 10.5.1 all is fine however, on my macbook pro running same system I can't type the preset name which means I can't use ARC for now.
I also noticed a similar problem while using sibelius 5.1 and trying to type in a name for a preset of the playback devices. I can type but only one character every second or so and I must hold on the key for a wile, resulting in multiple characters, then deleting the extras!! strange.

Can't type in text when turn phone landscape and screen turns off

When I turn my iphone 6 (regular not plus) sideways to type in text most of the time it won't let me type anything and sometimes the screen turns off. If I reset back to portrait a few times sometimes it will start working and sometimes I have to reboot for it to correct. Anyone alse having this issue?

I am having the same issue. It won;t let me text in landscape - but if I turn back to portrait start typing and turn back to landscape it will allow me to continue. And I am also getting the black screen occasionally as u mentioned

Can't type in text message

Ever since I did the 4.4 kitkat upgrade on my phone, at random times, I am not able to type in a text message. The cursor will be in the text message body section but when I type nothing shows up. I can go into other apps on the phone and type without issue. I have to restart the phone to fix this.

I want you to text freely w/no problems! Are you using a 3rd party messaging application, or the messaging application that came with the device? Either way, please go to your messaging application (menu/settings/manage apps) and clear cache as well as clear data.
Please also go through your messaging threads and delete any unneeded messages or full threads. Then, give it another try and keep me posted!

Can I type different text into insances of the same symbol?

Example:
If I have a A-B-C poster in which I want each letter to be in a rectangle-shape symbol, is there a way that I could have, say, a blank text-box in the symbol, and then type a different letter into each symbol?

When it comes to symbols you would need to create 26 symbols for each letter of the alphabet, so symbols are not the way to go.
If all you need is a rectangle around each letter
Set a letter, set fill to none
Switch to pointer tool
Appearance palette flyout >> add new fill, set color you like for type
Appearance palette flyout >> add new fill, select bottom fill in appearance panel, set color you want for rectangle
Effect >> convert shape to rectangle (turn on preview, enter settings similar to mine)
Effect >> path >> Outline object (optional - this helps center the type in your container by getting rid of the extra space built into a font)
Now you can option drag copies and change the letter, and the rectangle will stay same size if you chose absolute, or resize if you chose relative)

Typically, Adobe reader permits typing text directly on to a document. How can I do this using Reader Touch for Win8?

How can i type text in one text box and have the same text appear in a second text box? (on the same page)

I'm trying to make a simple CD label template and would like the text typed into the title text field on the cover to also appear in the title box on the back cover when typed just the once.
Is there any way to accomplish this?

Hi Chuck,
Not possible with a Text box, but can be done with a table.
Type the text in cell A1 (top left). When you exit the cell, the text will appear in C1 (top right).
Table can have fewer cells; cell borders may be set to 'none' to make them invisible; font and size may be different is each cell (as shown).
The formula in C1 is pretty simple: =A1
So it's possible, but on the whole, I agree with Peter—Copy/Paste is just as efficient, Drag and Drop onto (styled) placeholder text works quite nicely.

With Adobe Reader XI, you can add text comments and notes, as well as adding new text boxes using the Comment pane shown below:

You can create larger documents e.g. Documents To Go (http://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/documents-to-go-office-suite/id317117961?mt=8) allows you to create/read/update word and excel documents, as well as supporting other document types. I can't type text with special Spanish characters (Captivate 6)

Hi there,
I've just downloaded Adobe Captivate 6 to try it out and found that I can't type some special characters widely used in Spanish language: our accents or tildes (that's the Spanish word for them). That's what I can't type:
Á or á
É or é
Í or í
Ó or ó
Ú or ú
I've checked the fonts on my font manager, but that's not the problem. They're fine.
I've also tried to paste some text with these characters from Firefox and it worked fine. You can see it on the image:
So I guess it must be some annoying bug.
Can anyone help me?

I still have this problem with the accents in AC and I've just found that problem comes from the double-type characters (like the accents in Spanish).

Firefox 8, Gmail chat issue; It ceased working, i can not type in the chat window, although i can get text that is sent to me. ideas?

i can click on it but can not type

How can I type into a text window on top of a box?

Hi gang. When I create a box (for example, a sidebar b/g) then create a text box on top of it, I can't type into that box unless I drag it off to the side, away from the b/g box (or layer, since we're not talking Quark) as the text just hops over to the b/g layer. Is there something I need to check or uncheck? It's driving me crazy. TIA

OK, I think I see what's going on. Use the Text tool to make the text frame, not the Rectangle tool. Becasue the rectanlge has no fill, and is not expecting text by default, when you click inside it you are really clicking in the filled background frame.
Of course, ther'e generally no reason to put a text frame on top of a native rectangle object like this you could just use the yellow frame, add some insets to position the text where you want it, and forget about the second frame on top.
