Can't type while Acrobat plug-in is active!
I'm currently using Firefox 3.6.16 with Acrobat 10.0.1.434 on Windows 7, and I'm encountering the following problem. Whenever I load a PDF file in Firefox, I can't type into the URL bar, the search bar, or on forms on pages loaded in other tabs.
It's quite annoying, has anyone else come across this?
I found that if I select something from the FireFox File menu like Save Page as ... and click cancel, I can start typing again.

I can't load Adobe Acrobat plug ins to view PDFs online
When online, it doesn't matter which web browser i'm using, I cannot view Adobe Acrobat files. I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Is there an easy fix or should I just be sending my MacBook Pro in for a "good ol' talking to" by the genius's at Apple?
to view pdf files you need to download and install adobe reader from the adobe website.

How can I stop Adobe Acrobat plug-in from crashing?
Whenever I try to download a pdf file, adobe acrobat plugin crashes. I have disabled it. Is it corrupted? Should I install it again, and if so, how?

Hi!
Can not type while loged in as specific user. It is possible to type as another user, or when promped to authorize something. Mouse working fine. Combination mouse + cmd/alt/shift etc works fine. No hardware problem.
I find out that ALL non-asian keyboard layouts in international panel of System Preferences are missing as well as Keyboar pane crashes SysPref if clikcked on.
I asumed that something was wrong with local users prefs files so I erased them. Unfortunately no change!
Any suggestions?
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.7)Ok, I was maybe not quite clear about erasing/moving Prefs map to Desktop but it's always done like you said, anyway...
I did basicly everything you said even before, and had no impact on my problem. Strange thing is that there is no error message in any log file.!?!
I did find something like "can't find KD?? something" in console.log before but not any more. Crash log for syspref looks like this

firefox won't open pdf's in a new window. I get a blank page. When viewing my application options, Adobe Acrobat is not listed under content type anywhere. I entered about:plugins in the address bar and it is showing that I do in fact have Adobe acrobat.

I went to the profiles directory by putting %APPDATA% in the run window, then in explorer went to mozilla, firefox, profiles, and deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file after making sure firefox was closed. Opened firefox again and mailto links worked. Tried it on my friend's computer and it work on it as well. -

This happens when I select an image as default in NetInstall, OS X Server 2.1.1
It happened also in version 2.1
Otherwise, NetInstall is working fine when I connect from an other mac through my network.
Every other services work fine too.
Does someone else have this issue ?

I have powerpoint for Mac on my imac. I can't seem to get the active text box function to work like it did on my PC. How can I insert an active textbox into a presentation that will allow me to type while presenting?

Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.See if you can find a NPPDF32.DLL files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\)
You can see the installed plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages).
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

While using Illustrator or Photoshop I seem to be hitting a shortcut to lock my key board. Other shortcuts work but can not type anything?
You are planning to do a number of things, so let me first make a suggestion about the overall approach. Instead of: "Before I make a clone of my hard drive I would like to fix this problem so I only have one account with everything in it but I do not know what to move ... or how to safely move it", I would make that clone immediately. And leave it alone until you have completed the reconfiguring and rearrangements you plan to do. This way, if you accidentally do something that needs to be undone, your clone is there with all the originals. By the way, this is the approach I always adopt, whenever I have to do anything drastic with an existing installation.
After all the rearranging etc. of the main drive you just make a new clone that erases the previous one.
The "Deano" account doesn't show up when I go to System Preferences:Accounts. So I assume I must have done something wrong.
This would suggest to me there is only one account, i.e. the principal, or Admin account. Why do you think there is a second account?
Where should I keep all my work files?
You can keep them where ever it is most convenient. As you know, you can create folders within folders, and there is nothing special about the Documents folder. Feel free to ignore it, if that's the way you want to work. You can direct your downloads, the default "save to" locations etc. to the appropriate places, as you work.
Can I create a new place for all my work files and just move them? I know I will have to update linked files within the various software packages but this is not a problem.

Can't Change Type In Acrobat Pro 9
Have been doing some research on how to change type in Acrobat Pro 9. Was told to Choose View >Toolbars > Properties bar. When I do this a Properties box appears but a message reads "no current selection."

If your inside a PDF document first click on Touch up tool then mouse over item to change the choose properties. Then click on fonts and choose desired font.
If you want to change fonts used to create fonts:
Preference > new Document. -
EVERY TIME the browser boots it kicks off the plug in check. I understand that this is important but it is currently a pain. Once I update Adobe Acrobat Plug in the browser does not recognize that the plug in has been installed and keeps coming up and up an up an up.

Trying to use an eFiling system getting mssg "adobe acrobat plug-in is not installed or is disabled"
I am on an IMac with Snow Leopard - I have updated ALL Adobe products. I am trying to open documents in an online filing system and I repeatedly get the message..."adobe acrobat plug-in is not installed or is disabled". Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks so much!
Firefox can find plugins in several locations, but Firefox 21 changed the location of the "shared" plugin folder so older installers like the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin no longer drop the DLL file in the correct location.
There apparently are two ways to address this:
(1) Change a Firefox preference so that Firefox checks the old location. Here's how:
(i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''plugins''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins''' to switch its value from false to true.
This will take effect after you restart Firefox.
(2) Copy the plugins folder to the new location. Here's how on Win 7 64-bit:
Open a Windows Explorer window to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Right-click and copy the '''Plugins''' folder
Double-click the '''browser''' folder to open it
Right-click and paste
Right-click the new copy of '''Plugins''' and rename it to '''plugins'''
After restarting Firefox, the plugins in that folder should now be available.

Acrobat Plug-In - Wont load PDF pages in browser
Not sure when it started happening, however either after upgrading to Safari 4.0.2 or installing the entire Master Collection of CS4, Safari will no longer load PDF's into a window. The error message reads:

The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your web browser & try again.

Can someone help me out. Am trying to cross debug a website for IE8 and Safari but any PDF content in the webpage that loads separately causes the application to quite with a Data Execution Protection error.Thanks for your help I found the SIMBL directory and deleted a file called AcidSearch.Bundle which had a date of 2006, The SIMBL directory was not deleted just the file .
Safari now loads error free ! The path for anyone else with the issue is below.
