Can't uninstall Acrobat 7 in Win 7 XP mode

Badly in need of some advice...
I have Win 7 Professional edition, which has XP mode. I have Acrobat Standard 7.0 installed in XP mode, which very badly in XP mode. So now I've bought Acrobat Pro XI -- but haven't tried to install it because I can't find any way to uninstall Acrobat 7.0 -- it isn't listed in Add/Remove programs (in fact, NO programs that I installed in XP mode are listed).
I've searched (a lot) online and can't find anyone posting about this problem. Does anyone have any idea how to uninstall Acrobat 7.0 when it is installed in Win 7's XP mode?
If nobody knows the answer to this, does anyone know whether installing Acrobat Pro XI with Acrobat 7.0 already on my computer will create problems? -- Will Acrobat XI automatically uninstall 7.0 (even if 7.0 is installed in Win 7's XP mode?!)?
Thanks very much for any help!!

SOLVED! And I can't believe how dense some people can be -- and here I'm referring to me. For anyone who may have this problem, this is the solution I found:
When you've started Win 7's XP mode, you get a plain-Jane desktop screen with icons of the programs you've installed in XP mode. I have searched for a way to get to Add/Remove XP programs, but never could find it. The reason is, at least on my monitor, that I couldn't see the Start button in XP mode. Putting the cursor on the bottom of the screen just makes the Win 7 start button visible. I had to click -- just once -- on the scroll bar in order to make the XP start button visible.
Once it was, I easily got to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs, and there, lo and behold!, Acrobat 7.0 was listed. I uninstalled it easily.
I hope this can help someone else. It sure was frustrating!

  • Acrobat Pro 9 & XI both installed on Mac. How can I uninstall Acrobat Pro 9 & not affect Acrobat XI?

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro XI are installed on the same iMac with OS X 10.8.5.  How do I safely uninstall only Acrobat Pro 9 without affecting Acrobat Pro XI?
When I first installed Acrobat Pro XI, I thought maybe I was suppose to leave Acrobat Pro 9 on my computer.
So now I have both Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro 11 installed.
I see no benefit to having both installed. I want to uninstall only the Acrobat Pro 9 and not Acrobat Pro XI.
I am not sure that I can safely uninstall Acrobat Pro 9 without affecting the functioning and files for Acrobat Pro XI.
I started to uninstall Acrobat 9, but I stopped when I saw a warning in a little window.
I went to the  "Acrobat Uninstaller.app"  file in the  "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro"  folder and double clicked it.
The Acrobat folder for Acrobat XI Pro came up with the file "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" selected
I manually selected the  "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app"  file in the  "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro" folder.
When I clicked on "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" for Acrobat 9  a window with a warning came up. So I stopped.
"Uninstall will remove files, folders, and preferences installed by Acrobat from your system.
There is no undo available. User data files and directories shared by other Adobe applications will not be removed."
Should I go ahead and click [Uninstall]?
I don't think it will delete my pdf files.
Will this affect my Acrobat XI operating &/or preferences? Will Acrobat XI still function correctly?
What do I have to do to safely have just Acrobat XI on my computer without Acrobat 9?
    Thank you for any help.

I am trying to uninstall, I tried to uninstall, but I got the following message when trying to uninstall: "Invalid Application. The application selected was not a valid Acrobat application for this uninstaller. Please rerun the uninstaller." Acrobat 9 installation suddenly stopped working
    Can you help?

  • Can't Uninstall Acrobat 9

The Acrobat PDF Maker Add-in for Office got disabled and I can't seem to re-enable it. I've tried the suggestions in http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401734&sliceId=2 except for uninstalling Acrobat. I can't uninstall it because when I go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs Acrobat isn't listed there. When I run the Acrobat installer it doesn't give me an option to uninstall, and I can't find an uninstaller.
Any ideas on how to remove Acrobat?
    Windows XP SP3
    Office 2007
    Acrobat Pro 9.4.4

    Thanks for the link!
I took a look and read the following:
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
So, to make sure I undersand the process:
--- I use this windows utility to remove the installation files form my PC
--- What next?   Will I need to reinstall the Acrobat Pro Trial edition just to immediately run the uninstall?
Even if this is the correct process, I'm not sure this will work because the trial version is limited to a 30 day period that already expired on my computer.  So I doubt I would be able to reinstall it.  I suspect I would get an error saying that I now have to purchase the official version.
Thanks again for your help with this.

You can disable that plugin. Open the add-ons manager (select Add-on in the Tools menu). Now go to the Plugins panel, select the Adobe PDF plugin in the list of plugins and click the Disable button.

  • Can't uninstall Acrobat 8.1 to install 9

Purchased Acrobat 9 upgrade but install process quit with error that it can't uninstall old version of the program. Tried to uninstall manually via control panel, but got error :The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it." I have no idea where the old 8.1 install file is. So I am completely stuck. I can't find any help with this problem in customer support area. What do I do now??

Well, Put the original Acrobat 8.0 install CD in and re-install it. If you
downloaded it from Adobe's web site, you surely backed it up, right ?!
If not lesson learned I guess.

  • HELP!!! Can't uninstall Acrobat 8 in WIndows XP

I used my copy on my previous computer running Windows 2000 but it doesn't work on this one running Windows XP. It installs and starts and freezes with the overlay "What do you want to do". I've tried to uninstall and it freezes halfway through the uninstall. I've reinstalled and uninstalled. I even renamed the file after one of the installs and it still has a lock on files even with the wrong directory name. I've gone into safe mode and tried to uninstall and remove files. This is the full Acrobat 8 program
I have the Acrobat 9 reader installed but how do I get rid of Acrobat 8??

  • Can't uninstall Acrobat Reader Plugin

I don't want PDF files to open in Firefox 3.6.10. I want to be asked whether to open or save the file, using Foxit Reader outside of Firefox (PDF files are registered to Foxit on my computer). In the past, I have renamed the nppdf32.dll file and successfully disabled the Acrobat plugin (which disappared from about:plugins). This now does not work, and the plugin is still listed in about:plugins, despite there bing no nppdf32.dll file. Now, when I try to download or open a PDF file, all I get is a black screen--no dialog box and no document. Please tell me what to do. Thanks.

You can disable that plugin. Open the add-ons manager (select Add-on in the Tools menu). Now go to the Plugins panel, select the Adobe PDF plugin in the list of plugins and click the Disable button.

I installed Reader 8.2 which was on this site hoping it would pick up all the bits and uninstall together but no luck, I still get the same error message.

  • Uninstall acrobat 9.2

When I try to upgrade or uninstall acrobat 9.2 I receive the following error: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."  I've trolled around different postings and not found anything particularly useful.  Can anyone suggest how I can manually uninstall acrobat?  My OS is Vista Business.
    thanks.

    sorry, I meant "update"
It all started when the automatic updater failed with an update a few weeks ago.  I ignored it for a while, but the update manager kept bugging me to update and I got tired of the repeated attempts to update and subsequent failure.  I tried to update manually to no avail.  Since then I have tried to uninstall using the windows uninstaller and received the message I posted earlier.  I figured it would be easiest to reinstall, but I'm stuck.

  • Uninstall acrobat x after installing xl

Apparently the “Compete / Full” install of Acrobat Xl did not remove Acrobat X. Now that I have my Acrobat Xl installed, the complete version, can I uninstall Acrobat X to save some space on the hard drive?  I running 64 bit OS Windows 7 Professional.

Interesting; when I upgraded to Acrobat XI on my Windows 7, Acrobat X was completely uninstalled.
Does Acrobat X still show in your Programs & Features?  If so, I think it's safe to uninstall, as the two versions are in different program folders.

  • I downgraded from CC to CS6, and Acrobat XI is now in trial mode. How can I use the Acrobat X that comes with the CS6 Master Collection disc? Should I uninstall Acrobat XI then install Acrobat X? What about de-/reactivation?

I've read about deactivating/reactivating with Photoshop. If applicable, how is that done?

deactivating is done by opening a programs > click help > click deactivate.
that's not applicable to cc apps.

    Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above.
