Can't uninstall CS3 Flash Trial

I installed the CS3 Flash Trial to check it out, as one does.
I now want to uninstall it halfway through the trial. Unfortunately
when I choose Flash CS3 in my "add or remove items" panel this
Adobe created installer comes up. With this installer I can remove
components but not the program itself. ARH. Does anyone know how I
can do this? Am I missing something here?

  • Can't uninstall CS3 after installing CS4

After I got CS4 installed and working ok, I tried to uninstall CS3. A dialog window showed two components that could be uninstalled; CS3 and Shared components. Both were checked and grayed out so that I could not uncheck Shared components. How can I uninstall CS3?

Thanks, I spoke to Adobe and they said that all I had to do was be patient. The uninstall took about 40 minutes, and it was quite a while before the progress bar budged.

  • Upgraded to CS4, but can't uninstall CS3

I installed CS4, and then successfully uninstalled CS3 (both versions as full Creative Suites).  I realized, though, that I hadn't saved the actions I had created in PS CS3, so I reinstalled PS CS3 (and found the PS CS3 Actions Palette.psp file, which had my custom actions, from a backup I had made). I exported the custom actions to .atn files, and then imported them into CS4.  So far, so good.  But...  Now I can't uninstall CS3!  It doesn't show up in my "Add or Remove Programs" dialog (either as the full Creative Suite, or as the individual component programs).
I suppose I might be able to solve this by completely uninstalling CS4, which would leave only PS CS3 (and a few other of the CS3 programs, which were also reinstalled) -- and then maybe it would show up in Add or Remove Programs.  (And then I could -- I hope -- uninstall CS3, and reinstall CS4.)  But if someone has a simpler solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it!
To summarize the key actions, here's what I did:
    - Already had Creative Suite CS3 installed
    - Installed Creative Suite CS4
    - Uninstalled Creative Suite CS3
    - Reinstalled PS CS3 and a couple other CS3 programs
    - Exported some files I needed from CS3, and imported them into CS4
    - Now I can't uninstall CS3
    Thanks,
    Steve

You have created a fairly unusual situation!
I would first try runnning the CS3 Clean Script to see if that can remove it without damaging the CS4 installation. It may not.
Otherwise I can only think of:
    Un-install CS4 normally
Run CS4 clean script, a couple of times if necessary.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
It should also detect CS3 remnants , if not run CS3 clean script.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Manually remove any Adobe folders remaining – they may be in more places than C:\Program files!
Run a good registry cleaner like CCleaner.
Start again with a fresh installation.

  • Upgraded to CS3 to CS4. Can I uninstall CS3?

Several years ago I upgraded to CS3 to CS4. CS3 was not removed. Can I uninstall CS3?

For both CS3 and CS4 the better capture tools are:
    For HDV: HDVSplit
    For SD: Scenalyzer
This may avoid the need to reinstall CS3 and possibly messing up some registry keys.

  • Can't uninstall CS3... no error, just nothing happens

I'm trying to uninstall CS3 in preparation to install CS5... But nothing happens. I click on CS3 in Programs and Features and then click uninstall. I get the small blue wheel by the cursor for a few seconds then nothing happens. no error. no message window. nothing.
I once got a message that said the uninstall failed due to a "database error"... but now I'm getting nothing and I can't seem to reproduce the circumstances of that original error.
Adobe support won't help with CS3 and their "Cleaner Utility" is not available for Windows for at least a month (so they tell me).
    Any tips?
    p.s. - using Windows 7 64bit

Try to manually delete all entries pertaining to Adobe using the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility, then delete the caps.db manually as well. More info here. Just be aware that this will really ruin all Adobe software and you must reinstall everything, including minor tools such as AIR, Flash Player and Adobe Reader.

  • Can I uninstall cs3 now that I've installed cs5

I'd love to free up space on my HD and simplify my system by uninstalling cs3, but I'm not sure whether that's a good
idea now that I've installed cs5. Is it ok and is there any special precautions that should be taken?
    Suggested procedure?

If you have the Mac version, yes, Windows, no.  Also with the Mac version there are folders in the Library->Preferences and Library->Application Support folders which are related to the old version.  They are extremely small but you can delete them if you want.  Just make sure you delete the files related to the old version and not the new one.  Most are marked by the version number not the release number, ie: Dreamweaver CS5 = 11, CS3 = 9.

  • Can't uninstall Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.235

Hello. I can't uninstall Flash 16.0.0.235 no matter what I do. I've downloaded and ran multiple different versions of the uninstaller, I've gone into C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player and deleted everything there and restarted my PC and when I reopen FireFox it's still there listed as being unsafe in the Add-ons list. Anyone have advice how to get rid of this version?

    Check points 4 and 5 in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
→ C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash also needs to be cleaned.

  • Can't uninstall CS3

    I recently installed CS5. I want to
uninstall CS3 so that when I edit a photo in Elements 8.0 using Photoshop it goes into CS5 and not CS3. I went into Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and clicked on CS3. When I did this, the screen froze up, and I had to restart the computer to get out of it. I tried this twice, and the same thing happened the second time. I experimented with removing a different old program, and it uninstalled just fine. How can I get rid of CS3 if I can't remove it using the Add or Remove Program function???

All wrong! The mess is between your different versions of your Adobe programs. you need to uninstall them all and then reinstall in correct order. Just removing CS3 won't fix anything, anyways, as it will destroy any file associations also for CS5 and possibly PSE8. So you'd be doing more damage than good... Use the CS5 Clean Script (which also applies to CS3 and CS4) to remove programs if the installers don't work.

  • Installed Leopard on new drive, now can't uninstall CS3

I deactivated CS3. Then I installed Leopard on a new drive and it moved over all my stuff from Tiger, including CS3. Of course, due to the idiotic policy that allows you to run 2 copies, but not on the same computer, it won't start. Then when I went to uninstall CS3 using the proper uninstall in Utilities, I got a message that says "System Requirements Error - This software cannot be installed because the file system of the OS volume is not supported". What the heck is that? I have NO way to uninstall CS3? Why the restriction on two copies on one computer anyway? What if your current drive fails unexpectedly? How do you deal with that?

I have a perfect copy of the boot drive elsewhere on my system. I can boot from it in an emergency. But Adobe tells me that the copy of PS CS3 on that drive is not supposed to work. I called because I had the problem where it dies instantly as soon as you start it. I know the copy was good because I just tested that yesterday, again, during my song and dance to get PS on a non case sensitive drive. PS came up and ran from the spare drive I used as an intermediate Leopard > spare > Leopard. I didn't activate it there but did as soon as I was back on the modified Leopard drive and it's fine. I would say from my previous experience that if I were to boot back to spare and try to start PS, it would now die instantly because it's the second copy and hasn't been activated FROM THAT DRIVE. If I try to activate it I'll get some garbage about too many copies - I don't recall what they said exactly. The gist of it was 2 copies, 2 computers - fine. 2 copies one computer - not OK.
You say you had 2 copies activated on one computer? How? In my experience, the second copy dies so fast you couldn't get to activation. I'm not doubting you, I'm genuinely curious how it can work. I'm on a Mac Pro, if that's of any import.

  • Installed CS4, can't uninstall CS3

Hi. I had CS3 installed, and then installed CS4. CS4 seems to be working fine, so now I want to unistall CS3.
Unfortunatley, in Add/Remove programs, there's no uninstaller for CS3! There's one for CS4 though.
How the heck do I uninstall CS3 if there's no uninstaller?
    I have Vista.
    Thanks
    Doug

I understand there isn't a requirement for removal of CS3, I just don't need it any longer.
I don't have an option in Add/Remove for Adobe Creative Suite 3, only CS4.
I suppose in order to clean up, I may have to remove CS4 and then attempt to remove CS3, then reinstall CS4.
I could be asking for more trouble than it's worth though.
Is there an uninstaller out there I can download?

  • Can I install Adobe Flash trial in a classroom

    Hi,
I would like to teach my pupils (high shool) some adobe flash, but unfortunatelly principal won't allow ANY expenses for this, so I would like to use a 30-day trial for this (and remove it after 30 days).
Is it legal to install trial in a classroom? It's not a commercial but educational purpose.
    Thanks,
    Kris

  • Can't uninstall adobe flash

I am trying to install Roxio Creator on my computer and get an error message that indicates a problem with adobe flash, so I tried to update flash and that installation fails as well because it says that a newer version is already installed (it's not the newest version...it's 11.6.602.180).  So I tried the adobe flash uninstaller and it uninstalls my firefox flash but not the one for IE.  The uninstaller appears to work, but when I test the version using IE, it still shows 11.6.602.180.  There is nothing listed in add/remove programs, so I am lost as to how to uninstall it so that I can install the current version.
    IE is version 10.0.9200.16519
I am running Windows 8 64-bit and it appears that the IE version of flash is the problem.  Rebooting between the unistall and reinstall has no effect.  I have also tried to boot into safe mode to remove and reinstall, but the same issues as above.  I have tried to uninstall/install by right clicking the files and running as administrator but that doesn't help either.  I have also tried to disable all startup items in msconfig as well as using task manager's startup page.  I have also tried disabling all add--ons in IE.
    Any other suggestions?

    Hi,
Flash Player updates for Internet Explorer on Windows 8 will be provided by Microsoft though the Windows automatic update feature.
In the list of updates, you will need to choose " udate for internet explorer flash player for windows 8 "
It will install flash player 11.7 for IE 10.

  • How can I uninstall adobe flash player?

I was required to install it when I was going to upload something on metacafe but now that I have I can't do a lot of other flash things because of it and there is like no way to get rid of it, so how can I get rid of it because the other sites I use are really important to me and now I can't use them.

You have to uninstall FlashPlayer to update it from a download rather than using the auto-updater.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Can't uninstall the tryout (trial) version of Adobe Audition 3

I have downloaded the trial version of Audition 3 from the official website. Then after a month I would like to uninstall it (to install the commercial version) but the uninstallation programme hangs when I click continue. The uninstallation programme is found in Control Panel (as there's no shortcut nor programme for uninstallation in the C-drive Adobe directory) and my current OS is Vista Home Premium. Could anyone help? Many thanks!

I can't help directly - I don't use Vista because it sucks, but in principle you are doing the correct thing. What I can tell you though, is that if you are effectively having an installation (well, a re-installation) problem, then you are entitled to free telephone support from Adobe - they cover that.
