After installing CS6 can I uninstall CS5?  If so, how do I do it?

This comes up repeatedly, so you may want to do a forum search.
    In a nutshell:
If you wanted to remove CS5, you should have done so before installing CS6.  The CS5 uninstaller is very likely to mess with and destroy the CS6 installation.
Your best bet now is to use the CS6 uninstaller and uninstall CS6 first, then use the CS5 uninstaller to uninstall CS5, then run the Adobe CSClean script (downloadable from the Adobe site), and finally install CS6 again.
All adobe updaters are FULL installers and do not need a previously installed version to work.  When they don't find a prior version installed, they will simply prompt you for the old serial number as well as the new one.

  • Can i uninstall CS5 now that I have installed CC?

I have recently upgraded from CS5 to CC and was wondering if I can now uninstall CS5 to make space?

    Hi nickmossdesign.com,
If you no longer wish to use CS5 any more then simply deactivate and then uninstall CS5 software and continue using CC.
To deactivate launch any Adobe CS5 application/Go to help/ Select deactivate.

  • Can't uninstall CS5 or CS6.

    Hi,
I'm having a problem when I try to uninstall CS5 and CS6 suites on my iMac.
I installed CS5 suite like six months ago, then, two weeks ago I installed CS6, but before I uninstalled some components from the CS5 suite. Just remains Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
I installed CS6 and all good, then, I had some problems with Encore CS6 so I found a post that says that I should use the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. I did use it, all good.
Today I'm having a second problem with links between Encore CS6 and Photoshop CS6, so I tought it could be because of Photoshop CS5 installed in the same Application folder. So I decided to uninstall that application, but, I can't.
I can't uninstall any Adobe application from my iMac, I click on any 'Uninstall X application' and just appears this error: "The alias "UNINSTALL X ADOBE APPLICATION" can't be opened because the original item can't be found." The uninstaller just dissapeared for both Suites and I need to uninstall them.
    Can you help me community?
Where can I get the Uninstaller for Adobe applications?
    Thanks.

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall.

  • I installed CS5.5 Design Premium - can I uninstall  CS5?

    Hello,
I successfully installed CS5.5 Design Premium in my computer but the CS5 version still exists in my drive causing a visual mess. Can I uninstall it? Will it harm my CS5.5 installation? How do I uninstal?
    Thanks,
    Juan

You can uninstall it but it will affect your file associations.  I would recommend removing both CS5 and 5.5 and then reinstalling 5.5.

  • Can't uninstall CS5 suite! Pleaes help.

I was having trouble with Fireworks crashing when I tried to save files.  After reading posts on the Adobe Fireworks forum, I trashed the Adobe Applications Spport files in my user Library, because many users said this fixed the problem.  Now, when I try to open Fireworks or other Adobe programs, I get this message: Configuration error: please uninstall and reinstall the product.  So, I read Adobe's instructions for uninstalling, which said to "Navigate to /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers. Double-click the Adobe Creative Suite product uninstaller" I see an uninstaller for CS4 (which I still haven't uninstalled). However, there is no icon that says "CS5 uninstaller."  So, I click on the Adobe CS5 Design Premium folder, and I get this message: "The alias Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." I reinstalled the original Adobe application support files using Time Machine, and they now appear to be in the Library/Application Support folder, but I just can't seem to find a way to uninstall the CS5 suite so that I can reinstall it.  I want to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, which I plan to download. Can I use that tool to uninstall programs?  I'm backing up my hard drive first.  PLEASE HELP!  I'm lost without my Adobe suite!

Since you have trashed the uninstall related information so the uninstaller will not work. You can however follow any of the following steps to re-install CS5 suite -
    1) Install the product, or
    2) first run Adobe Cleaner Tool and then Install the product
You may use Adobe Cleaner Tool in this case but for normal un-installation always run the uninstaller from '/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers'.

  • Installed CS6 and now can't uninstall CS5

Just as the title says.  CS5 is no longer listed in Programs and Features.  I searched all the CS5 folders for a file named uninstall and found nothing.  Any idea on how to get CS5 of this computer?

I did but CS5 is still taking up tons of space on the SSD.  Can I just delete all the CS5 folders?
The cleaner tool didn't remove a single file from this SSD that I can tell.

  • Can't uninstall CS5 in XP pro. Help!

Follwed the add-remove recommendation. It removed the file from my program list, and most of the icons referring to it, but not the ones on my desktop which still link to the full program. All files are present and intact in my actual download files. I am willing to just dump files into the recycle bin, even go through my computer and manually delete everything, but would like to know if this is the best way to do it.
    Thanks!

If you mean XP 64bit, you should have looked at the system requirements before buying CS5, since PPro is not supported for that OS, only Vista 64 and Windows 7 64
Harm is right... trying to use PPro5 on XP 64 has most likely corrupted your Windows install, so you should format your drive and start over with Windows 7 64bit Pro

  • Need help uninstalling CS5

I downloaded a trial version of both Photoshop and InDesign CS5 and don't have room for either on my computer right now, though I might buy them some time in the future. But I need them off of my computer, yet every time I click "uninstall" nothing happens. I successfully uninstalled Photoshop yesterday, but had to system restore so it's back on my computer. How can I get rid of these programmes? I see the Creative Suite Cleaner tool, but it says you have to uninstall the programme first... All help greatly appreciated!

I am having a problem uninstalling Photoshop cs5. I will start at start, control panel, add or remove. I will then double click adobe photo shop cs5 , click remove. I will then click remove preferences or and uninstall. The message will read, Please close all of the following application to continue.

  • Can't uninstall PS CS5

I've recently purchased an action that uses the oil paint filter included with the Pixel Bender, so I'm trying to learn to use it before I upgrade to a PS CS version that has it. I want to see if it's something I can really get some mileage out of before I shell out on a recent version of PS. With that aim:
I installed PS CS5 as a trial (Windows 7 64-bit), but couldn't get PB installed. So uninstalled CS5 and then installed a trial version of CS5.1. More problems trying to install PB, including installing the wrong version (PB CS4) by mistake. Eventually I got the correct version of PB installed into CS5.1. I also removed the wrong PB.
After using CS5.1 for a day or two my computer crashed, and to get it back up and running I had to go to a previous restore point. I let Windows choose the restore point, so I don't know precisely where in this history of events I got back to.
After the system restore the computer wouldn't run CS5.1. The list of programs under the Start menu shows CS5 as installed (!!), but I can't run it either. I got an error message when I try to uninstall CS5. Immediately after the system restore I couldn't even attempt to uninstall CS5.1 because CS5.1 wasn't listed in the Control Panel Uninstall Programs list.
To re-cap: CS5 was listed as a program in the start menu even though before the system restore I'd uninstalled it, AND it was listed in the Control Panel Uninstall Programs list but wouldn't uninstall.
CS5.1 was also listed in the Start Menu, but NOT in the uninstall programs list. It wouldn't run.
As instructed by the Control Panel, I restarted the computer and tried again. No success.
As instructed in the Control Panel, I then downloaded and ran the CS Cleaner Tool, to get rid of CS5, CS5.1, and the Pixel Bender. The Cleaner Tool reports that it has succeeded.
However, both versions of CS5 are still listed in the Start Menu, and now both versions are also listed in the uninstall programs list.
Neither will run, and neither will uninstall.
Can anyone help? If nothing else, how to get these programs OFF my computer? I really want to see if the oil paint filter is something for me. If I need to I'll try out CS6, but I don't want to proceed with anything Adobe until I can first clean up the Adobe programs I've got, in hopes of avoiding more computer crashes and non-working software.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Upgraded to CS5, can we uninstall CS4?

Hello, just installed CS5 upgrade and assumed it would replace CS4 on our system.  It appears to have installed as a completely new program and left the original CS4 installation in place.
    Q. Can we uninstall the CS4 version to reclaim some HDD space?  CS5 seems to be working fine?
The screen shot belows shows the programs listed on the 'start' menu.
edit: We received the upgrade disk from Adobe as we had purchased CS4 after CS5 was announced for release.  Both program disks have different serial numbers.

Update for others who may read this....
There is one "ill-effect" that we have since discovered which relates to LR3.
We installed LR3 after CS5 and later removed the previous installation of CS4.  This action removes a key in the registry which makes the "Edit in Photoshop" option greyed out on the menu bar.
The solution was eventually found here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401629.html
We chose to have a go at the registry edit, but apparently re-installing CS5 will replace the key also, (this option may be tedious for those who have installed lots of plug-ins?).

  • Can't Update CS5 after uninstall

I am running Windows 7 x64, and I just installed CS5 design standard. I had run into some issues with my font software so I decided uninstall and reinstall. I ran the uninstaller everything was good, I re-installed and it fixed my 3rd party font software, but when I try to update my programs Bridge tells me that I have no updates to install.
I believe when I uninstalled CS5 it didn't unstall the updates, now my programs are not updated.
I know there is a CS5 cleaner and I didn't run it thinking the uninstaller would do it. I am looking for a fix other than re-installing everything a third time.
Thanks in advance for any help!

An update gets removed during uninstall of a product. In this case where you feel like the update is not showing up in the updater (Help>Updates) you can still download to run them explicitly. The return values/log messages of update will clarify if the update is applicable or already applied.
The updates run the same way whether run manually or automatically via help updates, so either way will not have impact on future updates.

  • How can I transfer CS5 from my old PC to my new PC?

How can I transfer CS5 from my old PC to my new PC?

You can download the trial version of the software from the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site.
    http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
If you do not intend to use the older machine any longer, you should consider deactivating it and uninstalling it from that machine.  If you think you might need the option to use it, you are allowed to maintain two licensed installations.
