Can't Uninstall Dreamweaver!

This is ridiculous. After having issues getting setup.exe to
start (had to set explorer as my default browser for it to work;
don't ask me why), I now have a problem where I can't re-install
dreamweaver as it thinks dreamweaver is already installed. I've
removed absolutely all application files (including those in
Documents & Settings, and those scattered amongst the program
files folder including associations in the 'Common' folder)
including performing a full system search for files & folders
including the word dreamweaver, additionally, I've used regseeker
to scan the registry for all keys including the word, or somehow
associated with the word dreamweaver (over 1000 registry keys
gone).
All that and I still can't install Dreamweaver CS3. Here's a
screenshot of what I'm getting as my error...
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5600/dwnw9.png
I'm guessing there's probably some kind of hidden DLL in the
windows directory which although doesn't contain the word
dreamweaver in the name, is probably associated with dreamweaver
and so the setup.exe probably checks for that file.
Would anyone happen to know how I can either satisfy this
setup.exe or some how force it to install?

Now aren't I just fantastic, 99,000 google searches later, I
manage to work it myself without the help of any resource. I
decided to run Filemon which monitors file access by applications.
I started capturing activity after I launched setup.exe and stopped
it once I saw the dreamweaver currently installed error (screenshot
in original post). At first glance I didn't see anything unusual,
but then I noticed that setup.exe had accessed a file named caps.db
quite a lot which was located in C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db
I decided to remove the whole folder as caps.db was the only
thing inside the 'caps' folder. I then restarted setup.exe and bam,
no error. I'm currently installing dreamweaver now. If I don't post
back here, it means deleting caps.db hasn't affected any other
adobe applications, otherwise, I'll probably post back and let you
know :)
I hope this helps someone else as after googling, I'd found a
few others experiencing the same thing but with photoshop (it's all
very much the same).

  • Can't uninstall dreamweaver and photoshop 32 bit from windows 64bit

I have dreamweaver and photoshop cs6 installed on windows 7 in the c:\program files (x86) folder. I want to remove it, but it won't work.
The cleaner tool also doesn't list these files and in the program manager of windows 7 I also can't uninstall it. What should I do, can I uninstall it manually?
I think it has something to do with the 32bit vs 64 bit versions of adobe dreamweaver cs6 on my pc.

    Hi Rusido,
If the products are uninstall from Programs & features>> Uninstall a program then you can manually delete the folders.
    Thanks!

What can I do to get this off!
You can use the CS3Clean script:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401574
It's designed for removing beta versions, but should also
    work with the
final release. Read the instructions carefully. The script
    will remove
all CS3 programs on your computer.

  • Can't launch, can't uninstall Dreamweaver CS6

I've moved onto a new laptop (Macbook Pro), and Dreamwever CS6 seems to have gotten borked. I get errors and crashes when I try to launch, and I cannot uninstall the program to try and get a fresh install (it just says there are errors and won't go any further). What's going on and what can I do to fix?

Choovie and Gwangung if you are unable to successfully use the uninstallers and the CC Cleaner Tool then I would recommend restoring your new Macintosh to it's default state.  Once restored copy over only your documents and settings.  You will then want to install any applications you wish to use, including your Adobe applications, on your new Macintosh.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files then please see Other downloads.

You can't just trash Adobe apps. You need to uninstall them.
Now you'll need to hunt down the CS4 clean script and run that.

  • How to uninstall Dreamweaver

I have Studio 8 on my computer ( MS windows xp sp2). I
uninstalled all of the programs, through the control panel, in
preparation to installing CS3 Web Premium . The control panel
indicated that the program was uninstalled but when I checked
Windows Explorer all of the files are still there. The programs are
missing from the ALL Programs menu. Can someone tell me how to
    completely uninstall Dreamweaver?

Uninstall scripts usually just take out core components
leaving some behind in case you are doing a re-install. Just remove
the files that are left over and you should be good to go.

  • Uninstall Dreamweaver w/o Uninstalling CS4

I need to uninstall and reinstall Dreamweaver, but when I go to Add or Remove Programs my only option is to uninstall CS4 altogether.  Is there a way to get to a screen that allows me to simply uninstall Dreamweaver and reinstall just it? Thanks.

I am not sure how it works with cs4, but with cs3 I selected the uninstall ( and the next choice was the components. I had to uninstall Acrobat 8 and reistall it and I had the choice after setup started.
If you choose to uninstall Adobe Suite, once setup starts, you can select the component to uninstall. If you only unistall one thing, you should not have to "deactivate" the suite. Once it is removed, then you can go through the same process to put it back on your computer. Make sure you save your site definitions (site/manage sites/Export) and do them one at a time to a location to import them back in.

    I can't uninstall dreamweamweaver cs4 beta so i can't install

We do that for production machines. What Adobe suites do to
    Window's
registry is not very good (similar problems exist with Mac's
    application
cache). Aside from bloat, there is no logical cleanup so you
    invariably wind
up with niggling problems such as the wrong version of
    Fireworks popping up
at the wrong time - or no version popping up at all. Since
    our gallery
products rely on inter-application communications, this is a
    nuisance. There
are other issues, but this one hits home (as well as our
    customers), hence
    tech notes like this:
    http://www.projectseven.com/support/answers.asp?id=194
We also keep "dirty" machines on which are installed MX2004,
    8, CS3, and now
CS4. Those are fun, but it helps in developing fixes for our
    customers.

  • Just purchased Creative Cloud single-app membership for Dreamweaver, can't open dreamweaver

    Hello,

Now i can't download the new version of Dreamweaver via the Creative Cloud app.  Can you reset my account so i can download Dreamweaver CC to my mac.
    many thanks

    Hi,

  • Uninstall Dreamweaver and Flash MX 2004

    Hi,
I'm having problems finding information in product support
regarding how to uninstall Dreamweaver and Flash MX 2004 from Mac
    OS X.
Could anyone help by directing me to on-line help, or other
step-by-step instructions. I would really like to get all
files/extensions/etc off my computer (because I'm a neat freak) and
don't like having misc. files lingering around.
    Much Appreciated,
    Don

Put the files in the Trash. To find orphans do a spotlight
search for DW MX2004, etc and trash these.
If in doubt, don't Trash the files, but zip them so they are
not accessible to your system. Ditto on all the orphans in the
    /Library/..... and /User/Library/.....
Once you are sure that you really no longer want MX 2004,
then you can trash the zipped files.

  • Can't launch Dreamweaver

I had a glitch with my computer, had to go back to a previous restore point, and now cannot figure out how to start Dreamweaver.
Basically I cannot figure out where dreamweaver.exe or dw.exe or whatever it is named actually lives.
I launch CC and it tells me dreamweaver is up to date, but I can't figure out how to A) uninstall it so I can reinstall (it's not in my list of programs on my uninstal possibilities) B) find the exe file so I can make a shortcut.
Did a search in my computer but it's not finding the file.
Been digging through the myriad folders (dreamweaver DOES seem to be in my program files) but I cannot find the darn file to launch. Anyone have the slightest CLUE where it lives?
Running Windows 7 and Dw CC.
    Thanks!

    Ouch.
Yes I'm the main user and have admin priveleges.
Dreamweaver.exe doesn't exist in that folder or. apparently anywhere in my computer.
Meanwhile CC tells me that DW is up to date and doesn't give me an option to re-download/fix the program. Any clue what on earth I can do?
I've already uninstalled/reinstalled CC. I can't uninstall DW because I can't find an uninstall file.
Since this is still a trial version, the very rude people at support will not help me unless I purchase the full version - why they think I'd purchase a program that so far doesn't WORK is beyond me. I'm only hanging in because I had DW back when it was Macromedia and loved the program.  *sigh*

  • Uninstall Dreamweaver cs6

Hi, just recently installed dreamweaver cs6 trial, but later decised to uninstall it. I opened control panel, selected dreamweaver and pressed Uninstall. Nothing happened, absolutely. No error message.
    How can I uninstall it?
    Windows 7 Ultimate
And yes, when I run it, it says that my license is damaged and I have to reinstall it.

Sounds like you need an industrial-strength cleaner:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
That tool will ask you which version you want to uninstall, so make sure you choose CS6 and not another installation.  It works back to CS4 I believe.

  • Cannot Uninstall Dreamweaver CS3

I could not uninstall Dreamweaver using Windows XP "Remove Programs".  When I click "Remove" nothing would happen, so I tried running the Adobe Clean Up utility.
Then when I clicked "Remove", it said it had already been removed and asked if I wanted to remove it from the list.  I did. Now I don't know how to uninstall it.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Doug Collins

    Hello Doug Collins,
maybe I list here wellknown examples how to remove programs (my hints are translated from my German WIN):
Adobes remove program: As we can see it "means" all is deleted. So you should have a look at
Windows Control Panel (Systemsteuerung): Because of above, presumably also unsuccessful.
File manager: Search in your Adobe directory for your CS3, maybe there are remaining some files of it. And after that go to
WIN regedit.exe (the sledgehammer approach): If DW has clearly left its mark, you will find them there. Use search function, BUT be careful by deleting. in any case save your regedit first!
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
