Can't uninstall DW CS3

When I click on the dreamweaver.exe file in
programs->Adobe-> dreamweaver cs3, it says:
quote:
"you cannot use the product at this time. You must repair the
problem by uninstalling then reinstalling this product or by
contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for
help."
When I try running the installer file again, it says:
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is already installed. To remove or
modify this software please use it's original installer.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Cannot be installed because it
conflicts with:
Using add/remove wizard doesn't work either.

Thanks!

  • Can't Uninstall Flash CS3 Professional

Yes I've looked around the web and Adobe forums. There's a whole mess of things I'm trying to fix right now so I might as well start from top and keep it compact.  Scroll down to where it says "Let's recap" if you wanna get a summary of my technical issues. It may scare away some of you, but please at least someone respond. (ps all links are put here purposefully by me)
I joined a site called newgrounds and became fascinated by flash movies there. I found a link which lead me to Flash CS3 Professional free trial download page.  I installed the program without a single problem. But after installation & restarting I couldn't find flash in there at all instead I found these (screenshot). I asked for help on newgrounds, and got advice to install CS4 instead. First I attempted to uninstall CS3, but it will only let me uninstall the Flash Player 9 ActiveX Component and not the program. I looked this up and the solution seemed to be CS3Clean Script. However I have two problems: first off I can't backup my files like recommended because the backup drive doesn't have enough room, which means 7.63GB out of 10GB is somehow being used (screenshot). If I decided to run CS3Clean Script without backing up my data I'd get a message telling me I need to install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. (screenshot) Which leads me to my second problem.  When I run the file to install "Windows Installer CleanUp" (just downloaded)  I get this error. What does it mean? Because I am on the Administrator's account so I don't understand why I don't have privileges.
    That's all of it!
    Let's recap:
+Can't Uninstall "Flash CS3 Professional" Trial
+Can't use "CS3Clean Script" to Uninstall Flash unless "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" is installed
+Can't Install "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" because of this error
Minor-ish problem slightly related---> Can't back up data in case something else goes wrong!
ps Did I scare any of y'all away yet?

What can I do to get this off!
You can use the CS3Clean script:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401574
It's designed for removing beta versions, but should also
    work with the
final release. Read the instructions carefully. The script
    will remove
all CS3 programs on your computer.

  • Help! Can't uninstall Photoshop CS3

Had several problems with my workhorse Photoshop CS3, so I decided it was time to reinstall a clean version. Followed uninstall instructions as far as deactivation (which I later learned was unnecessary), but the uninstaller/installer in my utilities folder does nothing . . . except lie there like a dead fish. Adobe won't suport this version, so I came here to forums, but didn't find the exact question answered. Apologies for taking up time and space if it is there and I'm just too dumb to find it. I'm working on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.8.4. I did try installing the cleaner tool, but it appears not to work either. Yes, I just now thought about restarting my computer and will do that while I wait for some kind soul to lend me a hand here. Thanks.

    Hi Curt,
Well I finally fixed the problem, in a very convoluted way. I loaded Photoshop CS3 from the disk, then I went to my utilities folder and used the new uninstaller to remove, apparently, part of the problem. The uninstaller promptly vanished again. I went to Photoshop and tried to open it . . . the serial number and activation code were already entered in the boxes which made me think the old corrupted version was still there. I tried to open an image, Photoshop started loading and I got a "fatal error" page. Having no better ideas I tried installing it from the disk again, and duplicated the uninstall app which just created another alias, and duplicated the other item in the folder which generated an alias for the Setup app, then I clicked on the  Setup alias and it launched a different installation program which offered the choice of installing, or reinstalling Photoshop CS3--an option I hadn't been given before. So I clicked on reinstall and it took at least twice as long as the previous installation. Lo and behold, I clicked on an image and Photoshop loaded without asking for any serial number or activation code, and it seems to be working. I checked on the two things that had been causing me problems, and both worked flawlessly. I don't necessarily recommend this to anyone who has the same problem unless they, like me, have tried everything else and have nothing else to lose. If the Cleanup tool worked properly, it would undoubtedly be easier that way.  Thanks very much for your help,
    Victoria

  • Can't uninstall InDesign CS3 trial version

Trying to install CS3 Suite but window says InDesign is already installed. All other programs in Suite install and work fine. No option to install or remove InDesign. Tried dumping InD into trash. Still says program is already installed. Please help. Thanks

I had the same issue. Removed my trial version and still couldn't get CS3 to install InDesign. It kept saying "already installed" and wouldn't even give me the option to uninstall. I trashed my trial installer long ago, but I did some snooping and found that adobe stashes the installer files in your applications support folder. So before you run a CS3clean script, try this easy alternative:
OSX (or whatever your root folder is called) > Library > Application Support > Adobe>Installers> ...now look for the InDesign installer file.
Make sure you're at your in the "Library" folder on your mac's root folder, and not your user folder. The installer files are all letters and numbers, so you'll have to look inside each folder to find the InDesign installer. You'll know it by the purple icon. (You'll probably also see a folder with a CS3 icon and folders for any other stand alone Adobe products in there, too.)
So double click on the InDesign icon and it will take you to the install/uninstall/re-install options for InDesign only. Follow the prompts and viola! It's gone. Now go back to your CS3 disk/download and install the InDesign that came with CS3 and all will be well.

  • Can't uninstall CS3 after installing CS4

After I got CS4 installed and working ok, I tried to uninstall CS3. A dialog window showed two components that could be uninstalled; CS3 and Shared components. Both were checked and grayed out so that I could not uncheck Shared components. How can I uninstall CS3?

Thanks, I spoke to Adobe and they said that all I had to do was be patient. The uninstall took about 40 minutes, and it was quite a while before the progress bar budged.

  • Can i uninstall CS3 once upgraded to CS5

    HI
can anyone tell me if its ok to uninstall photoshop cs3 once i have upgraded to cs5 or will that mean cs5 wont work?
Also, if any one has any ideas why the topaz labs plugins dont show up in the filters menu of cs5, any help would be appreciated, ive only just set this mac up today so there are no conflicting files or anything like that...
    thanks
    sarah

CS3 is not actually needed for CS5 to function but most people hang on to it until they are 100% happy with CS5. It not only has a few quirks but is missing some features of earlier versions.
Are the Topaz plug-ins compatible with 64-bit Photoshop?

  • Upgraded to CS4, but can't uninstall CS3

I installed CS4, and then successfully uninstalled CS3 (both versions as full Creative Suites).  I realized, though, that I hadn't saved the actions I had created in PS CS3, so I reinstalled PS CS3 (and found the PS CS3 Actions Palette.psp file, which had my custom actions, from a backup I had made). I exported the custom actions to .atn files, and then imported them into CS4.  So far, so good.  But...  Now I can't uninstall CS3!  It doesn't show up in my "Add or Remove Programs" dialog (either as the full Creative Suite, or as the individual component programs).
I suppose I might be able to solve this by completely uninstalling CS4, which would leave only PS CS3 (and a few other of the CS3 programs, which were also reinstalled) -- and then maybe it would show up in Add or Remove Programs.  (And then I could -- I hope -- uninstall CS3, and reinstall CS4.)  But if someone has a simpler solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it!
To summarize the key actions, here's what I did:
    - Already had Creative Suite CS3 installed
    - Installed Creative Suite CS4
    - Uninstalled Creative Suite CS3
    - Reinstalled PS CS3 and a couple other CS3 programs
    - Exported some files I needed from CS3, and imported them into CS4
    - Now I can't uninstall CS3
    Thanks,
    Steve

You have created a fairly unusual situation!
I would first try runnning the CS3 Clean Script to see if that can remove it without damaging the CS4 installation. It may not.
Otherwise I can only think of:
    Un-install CS4 normally
Run CS4 clean script, a couple of times if necessary.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
It should also detect CS3 remnants , if not run CS3 clean script.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Manually remove any Adobe folders remaining – they may be in more places than C:\Program files!
Run a good registry cleaner like CCleaner.
Start again with a fresh installation.

  • Upgraded to CS3 to CS4. Can I uninstall CS3?

Several years ago I upgraded to CS3 to CS4. CS3 was not removed. Can I uninstall CS3?

For both CS3 and CS4 the better capture tools are:
    For HDV: HDVSplit
    For SD: Scenalyzer
This may avoid the need to reinstall CS3 and possibly messing up some registry keys.

  • How can I uninstall my Photoshop CS 3 from my Mac, without an uninstaller?

How can I uninstall my Photoshop CS3 from my Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?   It has never opened, since I increased the Mac's capacity to 2 TB.  Now I want to throw the Photoshop CS3 away and get a brand new Photoshop CS5.    There does not seem to be an uninstaller anywhere to be found.  Adobe spent an hour and a half on the phone with me and could not find a work-around.   We tried to reinstall the CS3 from the disk, but the installations failed.
An earlier Photoshop CS2 is also on the computer and needs to be uninstalled.
Is there a way to rescue my computer and put the new Photoshop on it?

You need to manually delete the caps.db (somewehre in the Library:Application Support:Adobe folder) and then you can trash the program folders. Without an existing caps.db, a new one wil lbe created from scratch and al linstalls should run as if there never was anything on the system just as conversely you should not have trouble simply deleting the old versions...
