Can't Uninstall Mediasourc
After trying to get rid of the crackle and pop I have - I followed all of the procedures to remove drivers and software. Then I used the original disk to install everything. Now I am trying to uninstall mediasource 3 because I no longer wish to use it. I go to control panel and remove programs... I click creative mediasource and try to uninstall - I get a setup error and it closes. I have tried everything I can think of: - clean boot and uninstall doesn't work2 - reinstall and uninstall?- fails?Anything that anyone can recommend I would like to try at this point. I am so tired of my sound card crackling and I am trying to replace the card and the software.. if I cannot remove the software there is no point in changing the card.
Bump - can anyone help me out? I truly want to uninstall the program but as mentioned above it gives me a system error.

Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above. -

On the other hand, if it was installed as a Windows application or Internet Explorer application, you may have to uninstall it via the Windows OS Control Panel, or via the browsers concerned. The [http://answers.microsoft.com/ Windows support] would be helpful. -

All I know is (and I don't use iTunes a lot) I can't get iTunes to load. When I click on my desktop icon or try to run it from my Start menu, I get: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
I trid to reinstall and I get this:
"The path 'C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Application Data\Apple computer\Installer Cache\iTunes7.3.0.54\iTunes.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder which you can uninstall the product iTunes."
so I am thinking if I can uninstall it, then I can reinstall it and have it work. But I can't uninstall it, even with the remove programs function.
I should add that I am not a computer whiz to any instructions should be very easy to follow. (Assume I am not going to know what you are talking about

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I upgraded from 3.6.16 to 5, but don't like how 5 handles tabs (auto reloading 'problem loading' tabs when internet connection is reestablished). So I installed 3.6 in a separate folder, e.g. both versions are on this computer. I went back to using 3.6, and let it upgrade to either 3.6.18 or 19 (don't recall which & it's not open right now). I'm having problems with it using too much CPU & Memory, and not sure if that's a difference between 3.6.16 & 3.6.18/19, or if having 5 on the same computer even if closed could be causing the problem.
Can I uninstall 5 without causing problems with the 3.6 version and the single profile?If you haven't tried this, give it a try. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you. In your version 3 firefox, disable all extensions, I had two plugins (doubletwist and joost, disable those if you have them). Then install firefox 5 by overwriting your version 3 firefox. It should work fine after that. I tried everything before, I gave that a last ditch shot. Oh yeah, before you install firefox 5, clear your cache of everything just to be sure.

Can't uninstall software on Officejet Pro 8500A Plus
Googled this problem and found identical problem dealt with on this Forum however, now that I am logged into the Forum, the HP Search facility cannot find that same problem (what ?). The solution given was to download the "HP Officejet Pro Software and Driver Removal Utility" this being a url, but when I click on this url, the HP web site says it cannot be found (what again ?).
I have had this problem for a couple of years having failed to resolve it in talking to HP support. My cable connection to the HP printer is non-functional because of this HP printer software problem but as I can't uninstall the software to re-install it, I was about to throw away the printer. By chance, I discovered that the wireless connection still works, but without any of the bells and whistles provided by the HP printer software. Now even the wireless connection is flakey and I have to "Connect" and "Disconnect" the printer and router in turn as these 2 devices seem to conflict on the wi-fi network. Now almost impossible to get the HP printer to print queued items even when I try this fix.
From my experience, HP is the only company that makes software that cannot be uninstalled or even provide a fix for this situation. I would be unlikely to buy another HP product for this reason.What version of OS X on your wife's Mac?

How can I uninstall Xerox print drivers and then reinstall them again
Somehow I installed the wrong print drivers for our xerox printers running on the latest version of leopard and installing the correct driver doesn't seem to solve the problem. I want to remove all xerox driver files and reinstall the correct version of the driver.
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:

SuperPop
Uninstaller
Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
Stop plug-ins to save power
Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference? -
I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?
While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
- Can I uninstall the older version?
- Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
- If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.

I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.
Uninstalling the older version solved the problem. Thanks -

Why can't I get my iTunes or Quicktime to play? I've had my pc checked and it isn't a problem there. My java is up to date and all other programs work well. Other people I know have been having similar problems with Apple downloads. Now I can't uninstall them therefore I can't re install them. Help! Anybody out there have the same problems? I've tried every suggestion I've gotten from these blogs and can't get Apple to respond.

I am using OS X version 10.8.5 and safari 6.1. I installed Vaudix which i should have never done, but can't uninstall it. I tried a virusscan; virusbarrier express but it didn't find anything. I don't have timemachine running so i don't have a restore point. If anyone knows how to get rid of it please do tell.

ThanksIt seems to be a Safari extension that also installs "Genieo." There is an uninstaller, but as the developer is not trustworthy, you shouldn't rely on it. I suggest the tedious procedure below to disable Genieo.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Applications/Genieo.app
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

The file is unlikely to be used by anything but Genieo or something equally undesirable. Unless you know you need it, delete it in the same way as above. Otherwise, edit it to remove the line that begins as follows:

The above is not a file, but a line inside a file.
Reboot. Safari should now launch without crashing. If not, stop here and post your results.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't recognize. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
The Genieo installer may also install the "Silverlight" web plugin from Microsoft. If you have no use for that plugin, you should remove it according to Microsoft's instructions. Don't remove it if you subscribe to "Netflix."
This procedure may leave a few files behind, but it should render Genieo permanently non-functional, as long as you never reinstall it. -
I am trying to download the latest version of iTunes to my PC (windows XP) and I keep getting an error message or two. One is that it can't uninstall the previous itunes version, the other is that it can't find itunes.msi. I have tried removing the old version in add/remove programs, but it says the same error.
