Can't Uninstall oracle 8 products..

Hi,
I want to upgrade my oracle db from 8 to 9i.
For that I have done the following steps..
I have downloaded oracle 9i universal installer
I stopped all oracle services which are running in my system belong to oracle 8
I started installer exe.
clicked to Deinstall Products..
There is a note that.. 'To remove the products check the oracle items'
But am seeing the products which are installed in my pc belong to 8 version, but I am not able to select the products, and enable the remove. i.e there is no option to select them.
Could anybody help me in this regard..

The newer versions of the installer use a completely different formal for the inventory and are generally not able to handle the old Oracle8 stuff. There have been many internal changes in the installer since Oracle8.
And, as you have seen, Oracle tends to remove the downloads for stuff they have made obsolete and no longer support (and no longer want people to be using).
My crystal ball is broken and the telepathy link is not working well either - providing your operating system would be a good step in getting further assistance.
Or - since I am certain you are running a legal environment with appropriate licenses and support - you could open a service request with Oracle support to get the details.

Wow. I'm not sure this experience could have been any more frustrating. Now I can't uninstall oracle 10g client...

I just want to pretend like this whole upgrade episode never happened. What a nightmare.

I just had to click on the same setup.exe icon i used to install it. i didn't realize there was an uninstall option in the setup application.
As far as the error is concerned. When I installed 10g it set one of the registry values for 9i to "NA". Once I changed that registry value back to what it was it worked again. I guess Oracle changes the registry value of old installations in order to ensure they are not active anymore. Since I wanted a side-by-side installation of 10g and 9i I didn't want 9i deactivated. Everything is working fine now.

Unable to uninstall Oracle 10g products

I am on Solaris 10.5 SPARC 64 and just installed Oracle 10g successfully, but can deinstall.
I am trying to uninstall oracle products I just installed. But each time I run the Oracle Universal Installer to perform deinstall, I see "There are no installed products" on the welcome screen.
Any idea?
Here is what I am doing:
Start Oracle Universal Installer as follows:
$ $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstaller
In the Welcome window, click Deinstall Products

How can I uninstall Oracle 10g express edition(Western European).

I tried to install Oracle 10g express edition(Western European) in my laptop which is having windows vista home basic, but it was not installed properly so that I remove the related files in the program files, and i again tried to install Oracle 10g express edition(Universal) but it was not installed saying that already Oracle 10g express edition(Western European) edition was there and both Oracle 10g express edition(Western European) and Oracle 10g express edition(Universal) cannot co exist. can any help me regarding this one.........

I have a plan to install OEL 6 for Oracle DB 11g & OEMGC in my Server. But I need to make sure all Oracle-validated patches available in OEL 6 & I can install DATABASE & OEMGC in OEL 6 properly....I had seen a mail in OTN which mentioned there is no RPMs available for OEL6 till now....

Can't uninstall Oracle Client 11g on Win7/64 (all read and tried)

First: I already know the official tutorial for removing Oracle 11g and have read several existing forum entries on this topic.
1. When I try to deinstall with OUI (mark "OraClient11g_home1" only, no expanded subnodes), it tells me to run "deinstall" in the deinstall subfolder of the client directory.
2. When I run deinstall (Console, in Admin mode) it runs, but tells me:
ERROR: Cannot find the file bin\ONSCLIENT.dll in the ORACLE_HOME D:\...\11.2.0\client_2. You must download the standalone version of the deinstall tool from OTN to deconfigure/deinstall this Oracle Home.

The ONSCLIENT.dll is in fact not there, neither in the client bin directory, nor in the deinstall bin directory. The temporary folder exists, and I have no idea why it should not be allowed to be deleted.
I could not find any additional tool, except one explicitly for Windows 32bit.
This one should be a 64 bit client, I have another client in 32bit (client_1). I have currently some kind of version chaos, some applications need 32bit, so I want to get rid of the 64bit stuff for now.

Doesnt seem to be working for me! It gets stuck on:

Unable to run OUI to uninstall Oracle windows 10.2.0 database

Hi,
i installed oracle database on my windows xp system and i want to now uninstall the database so i tried running the Oracle Universal Installer but i am unable to run Oracle Universal Installer on my windows laptop.
when i run the setup.exe file for installing database i get error saying
"Error in writing to directory C:\.......\Temp\....... Please ensure that this driectory is writable and has atleast 45MB od disk space. Installation cannot continue."
i did go to my "Temp" folder which is under "Documents and Setting" and did delete all the files there and tried to run the OUI, but still same error.
how can i uninstall oracle database 10.2.0 from my laptop either using OUI or without OUI.

Try setting TMP, TMP_DIR or TEMP environment variable next time.
To uninstall, delete any entry in windows registry with "oracle" or "Oracle" or "ORACLE".
Delete the folder where Oracle was installed before.
That clears any previous installations of Oracle on your laptop.

Why can I download and install all of the Oracle ATS products for free?

Why can I download and install all of the Oracle ATS products for free? When I installed, I was not prompted for any licenses or to purchase anything.
I want to know why this is possible and if there are plans to charge for it in the future?

I don't know Oracle's ATS products specifically, but many of Oracle's products can be downloaded and used for free for learning purposes.
Typically, if you intend to use the products commercially then you need to pay for a licence, otherwise you are using it illegally.
This is usually described in the T&C's you agree to when you download the software.

Can I uninstall Adobe Application Manager without hurting my current Adobe products?

I tried to download a trial of Muse and the Adboe Application Manager says it is corrupt.

You can certainly uninstall Adobe application manager without affecting any of the Adobe apps however I would advise you to download Adobe creative cloud instead of Application manager.

Can I install Oracle XE on a system that has the Instant Client installed?

After installing Oracle XE (Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 for Windows x64) on my Windows 8.1 64-bit system, I can not connect to the "Get started" url (http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4950).
The output of "Start database" shows:
The OracleXETNSListener-service is being started.
The OracleServiceXE-service is being started.
The OracleServiceXE-service has been started.
The OracleXETNSListener service refuses to start. Could the presence of the Instant Client have something to do with this?
The Instant Client is installed in C:\Apps\Oracle, with a tnsnames.ora in C:\Apps\Oracle\network\admin.
Oracle XE is installed in C:\Apps\OracleXE.
There is a system wide environment variable ORACLE_HOME, pointing to C:\Apps\Oracle.
In the registry under HKLM\Oracle there are keys KEY_odac, KEY_ORACLE_HOME, KEY_XE, ODP.NET and OracleMTSRecoveryService.

XE was the last installed Oracle product. I installed it on my development laptop, so I can use an Oracle database when not connected to the company network.
The instant client was broken by the XE install. Uninstalling Xe fixes this, even without a reboot.

Can't install oracle 9i on win XP pro

I've successfully downloaded oracle 9i Db (enterprise). I've tried to install it on three different pc (Dell dimension 4400) with same os (windows xp pro). Everything works fine, except only for one of them : when I try run setup.exe, nothing happens, I don't even get a single error message.
Does anyone have an answer to this?

I had the same problem on my Windows 2000 Professional machine installing 8i Client
The company dba got the following file from Oracle p1507768_171_WINNT_F.zip this file unzips the oracle universal installer. Once I had an installer I could point to the products.jar file on my CD and install the Oracle 8i Client. When I then went to upgrade to 9i I had to remove the 8i universal installer before I could double click on the 9i setup.exe for it to install. - this is in the installation documentation.
My problem is that I had to reconfigure my machine and I can't get the above to work again for me.
- The universal installer had a problem with the jrew.exe file - so I put a newer version up there and changed the oraparam.ini to point to the new jre directory - the installer now works but I can't uninstall it. I would apprecitate any help as well.

Uninstall Oracle EPM 11.1.1.3

We are unable to Uninstall Oracle Hyperion 11.1.1.3 installed WIN 2003 X64 bit machine. Throwing JAVA runtime error.
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException at com.hyperion.install.wizard.swing.UninstallProductSelectionFieldSwing...
Any alternative option for this? Is it related JRE-64 runtime environment?

I went ahead with manual cleanup process <stopped the services, Restarted the server, cleared\deleted folders and Removed Register entry by Searching Key -> Hyperion...& restarted the Server before Re-install>

I didn't know that, it's complicated to remove oracle and I was messed up with files&folders to uninstall and I'm lost :(
can any one help me out uninstalling oracle 11g completely from windows?

yes, I know that I have installed OBIEE and those services related to OBIEE
my main objective is to install OBIEE and for that I got to install oracle database, I did install both database and OBIEE then I didn't find any database to use for OBIEE (silly right :P). yes, that is true and I'm lost
what to do now?
Found easy way is re-installing, I tried uninstalling both and not sure whether database was deleted or not, the same case with OBIEE
what I'm asking you is, "HOW TO ENSURE THAT I HAVE NO ORACLE DATABASE ON MY SYSTEM?"
Don't take me the other-way, I'm very new with Oracle products

Uninstall Oracle Database 10g

Could anyone help me to uninstall oracle database 10g?
I try to uninstall oracle database 10g, but it wasn't successful. Here are the steps I did so far
1)Go to Start/All Programs/Oracle10g Home/Oracle Installation Products, and click on Universal Installer.
2) Click Deinstall Product button.
After I clicked the Deinstall Product button, I wait about 30 min, but nothing is moving. I was frozen at this point. I don't know why?
I've been doing the same step when I deinstall oracle database to the older version, and I was alway successful to deinstall oracle database.
If anyone know how to solve this problem, please, help me out.

you were supposed to use OUI to perform install, and you should have shutdown all oracle services before starting. If this is the case, you can delete the remaining files at the former oracle home, if there are privileges issues at next reboot the dll's must be released.

Hi,
Run the Oracle installer, Then in the next to opening screen, you will have option to see installed product. In the installed product choose the product and click uninstall. In unix it is very easy to deinstall the product by deleting the $ORACLE_HOME directory.
I am not sure what is your plateform.
