Can't uninstall Photoshop CS

after discovering that users will now have to download Photoshop CS in order to activate rather than use the CDs, the solution includes removing the failed install of Photoshop CS. Now my Windows XP system is saying that there is any error using the remove tool in Control Panel
The screen says the setupdll/setupdll papp and some other gobbeldy **** about closing programs, etc. ,
tried a search for setupdll and found a file referred to in windows\system32 file, but not going further until some tech here advises

This also happened to me last night; my Photoshop CS lost its activation while trying to fix a Windows OS issue, and I found that it could not be reactivated due to the Adobe server shutdown for older products.
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l
I followed the link to the activation fix that would take me to CS2 version, however, I wanted to remove the CS version first. It would not uninstall using the regular Windows XP unistaller, reporting an error connecting to internet (probably needed code related to lost server activation ??).
For the heck of it, I inserted the original Photoshop CS software CD, assuming there was an uninstall option (there isn't). It finished its install thing, I re-entered the key code, it asked for activation, but couldn't complete for previously known activation support issue. I went back to Windows unistaller, and it worked this time, removing Photoshop CS without any issue ... the re-install from the CD must have overwritten a DLL or something flagged that had prevented the first unistall attempt. Good luck!

  • Can't uninstall Photoshop CS5.1 Extended

    Hi,
All of a sudden Photoshop stopped working out of the blue. It was working one minute, then an hour later I went to use it again and it wouldn't work - I hadn't installed/uninstalled any software/drivers in that time, nor had I made any changes to any system settings. When I click on the shortcut to run Photoshop, literally nothing happens. I thought maybe doing a fresh install would help, so I tried to uninstall it, but clicking on it in Add or Remove Programs does literally nothing either. There are no error messages, nor does anything appear on screen - literally nothing happens when I either try to run the program or uninstall it.
I downloaded the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and tried that, and while it runs fine, running it has no effect at all on my Photoshop installation and all of the files, folders and registry entries are still there.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. How can I get Photoshop completely off my system without formatting my drive and doing a fresh install? Thanks.

That is exactly how it is supposed to work. It merely frees up the Adobe installer database and oes not actualyl delete anything. Have you tried a reinstall after running the tool?

  • Can't uninstall photoshop and all adobe programs

    Hi,
my laptop has been recently formated and the office has been changed to 2007 (i don't know if it's important)
i thought that all the programs has been deleted and as i tried to install photoshop i found out that the old CS3 is still there with all my adobe programs but i can't open them and i can't delete them at the add/remove programs as they do not appear there.
so now i'm stuck - i can't uninstall the old photoshop and the rest of adobe programs i have and i can't re-install them.
does anyone has any idea what to do?
i can see their folders but that's it.
if i try to open photoshop for example i get "U can not use this product at this time. You must repair this problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contact your IT administrator or adobe customer..."

    Emily,
Your image is still in queue. Next time, use the little "camera" icon.
Next, do a search of this forum for "installation," and limit that search by People. Choose "the_wine_snob." Now, read ALL of the replies in those, and not just mine. There are many great tips by most of the others. I just happened to comment on some of those threads, especially the recent ones, so you should get a lot of great info in each. I'm just limiting by my posts, as I know that the others have made very good recs. in each.
    Good luck,

  • Can I uninstall Photoshop from my Mac and reinstall it on my PC without paying again?

    Hello,
About three months ago, I bought a package with Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and Premeire Elements 12. I bought a DVD install that works with either Mac or Windows. I registered it under a Mac, because that's what I had at the time. However, now I have switched over to a Windows 8 PC. I would prefer not to pay again. Is there a way to transfer it without buying?

Yes, just install it on the PC. You're allowed two activated installations so you can keep it on the mac, too, if you want. If not, just go to Help>Sign Out in the editor on the mac before you uninstall it.

  • I can't uninstall photoshop elements 8 from my computer.

    - it says it's open in another program, but I've closed every other program - I've tried deleting the whole adobe folder and get the same error message - Any help?  Adobe is absolutely no help, so I'm hoping someone here can help.

    Restart the machine and retry.

  • Can't uninstall Photoshop CC without uninstalling PS CC 2014

When I go to uninstall PS CC the uninstall wizard from adobe also checks PS CC 2014 to be uninstalled. And there doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall just the older version. Is anyone else having this issue?

I must say I'm very disappointed by Adobe on this issue. If there is an issue with the software at least let us know you're working on it. Or provide a workaround. But don't just leave us all in the dark. Perhaps we can escalate the issue?
I haven't been in the conversation because my issue is actually fixed. Though I don't think anyone here will like my solution. I had a Windows registry error that caused all my internet ports to close, and therefore I had no internet. This issue was totally, completely, 100% separate from the CC 2014 issue, so don't worry. Well in the process of fixing my internet issue, I had to wipe my C drive.
But don't worry, my C drive is a small SSD, so it doesn't contain any of my files (except my FONTS! ). So since all my "installed" programs were no longer in the fresh registry, I had to reinstall the entire CC suite. And, thankfully, it allowed me to install ONLY the 2014 versions of everything. So now I'm back up and running with the full suite, no issues.
BUT! While trying to fix my mouse to auto profile switch in programs like Photoshop I ran into an issue. I couldn't get the mouse to recognize when Photoshop was in focus, and therefore it wouldn't switch my button profiles automatically. This had me scratching my head for a few days because it worked in my other Adobe programs and in games. And during this process I discovered that Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom 5.5 are installed into a directory different than the one specified during installation. All my programs are stored on my main drive, E. Because my SSD is small, I keep as many programs off of C as possible. Now I do have a Photoshop CC 2014 installed on my E drive (E:\Adobe CC\Photoshop CC 2014\Photoshop.exe) but that wasn't the path the program was running from. I discovered its actual location is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Photoshop.exe. This was the reason for my mouse not working, so perhaps it has something to do with the installation issue? The uninstaller may be looking in a default directory, or it may be looking at the directory requested during install. It appears to me that the full program is present in both directories.
So, to those having an uninstall issue, is your Photoshop installed in the default directory that the installer came up with or did you give it a custom installation? And maybe Adobe can answer why I have a Photoshop installed on my C drive when I specifically asked it not to!
If Adobe won't help us, we'll help ourselves.

  • I can't uninstall photoshop CS5

    I really need your help!!
I have installed Photoshop CS5 inserted my serial number and then it asked me to put in my account stuff and i have but it won't recongnise it.
So i need to uninstall it but i can't as it is not showing on my Add or Remove Programs. I need to uninstall it as it is taken up my memory. I need some help :/
    Kind Regards
    Jordan

If the Serial Number is not being recognized, then a call to Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support) should get you going. Just have your S/N and invoice handy.
For general installation problems (not Activation, or S/N issues), contact Adobe Technical Support. T/S for installation issues is free. Again, have your S/N and invoice handy.
For complete removal of the program, the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool CS 5.5, should help you. I'd run it a couple of times, rebooting between each run.
    Good luck,

  • How can I uninstall Photoshop Elements 10

I've tried to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 but have had no success. I've uninstalled many programs so I know how it's done, but nothing works when I try to uninstall this program. Nealeh gave me some hints in another forum but I don't know how to use them.
I have Windows 7 and went through the uninstall process several times. When it looks like the uninstall Wizard is finally going to do the job, I get this message: "To deactivate your application please connect to the Internet and try again or else continue without deactivating or cancel."
I tried to uninstall with and without the Internet connection. Nothing works. There must be a straightforward way to get rid of this program.

    Hi Tommyvincent,
In addition to Barbara please check via Help > Deactivate whether this option is grayed out or not?
If it is then it can be because of the following reasons:
It's a volume license serial number, which doesn't have a specific activation count--the Deactivate option is not applicable.
The activation failed (silently) and the product is running without being activated--therefore deactivating is not possible.
If none of these situations apply and Deactivate is still dimmed, contact Adobe Customer Service http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I uninstall Photoshop CC without issues with the new Photoshop CC (2014)?

Just checking before I delete all my non-CC (2014) apps if they will affect anything.

I don't know the answer to this but will be interested to find out.
In virtually all past versions it's been a bad idea to uninstall an older version of Photoshop after installing a newer one.
