Can't uninstall/update Skype Windows 7

Hi~ So I just tried to update to Skype's latest version, but it said I had to uninstall it and download the lastest version. Went to Control Panel, Skype doesn't appear as a program there... Then I went to Skype's folder, couldn't find anything to unisntall it there, right clicked Skype... Uninstall doesn't appear... I've been looking for a solution to this but everything I find only works on Windows 8 (I have Windows 7)May Someone help me with this?

Run the following removal tool, reboot then try to reinstall the latest verison of Skype: Removal Tool:http://www.pcdust.com/Downloads/SRT/SRT.exe Latest Version:http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-windows/downloading/

  • Can't uninstall/update Can't find iTunes.msi file

Something happened to my itunes. Could have been my daughter's creative genius or any one of a thousand other things....
All I know is (and I don't use iTunes a lot) I can't get iTunes to load. When I click on my desktop icon or try to run it from my Start menu, I get: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
I trid to reinstall and I get this:
"The path 'C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Application Data\Apple computer\Installer Cache\iTunes7.3.0.54\iTunes.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder which you can uninstall the product iTunes."
so I am thinking if I can uninstall it, then I can reinstall it and have it work. But I can't uninstall it, even with the remove programs function.
I should add that I am not a computer whiz to any instructions should be very easy to follow. (Assume I am not going to know what you are talking about

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How can I uninstall the Skype Toolbar extension?

Firefox 3.6.17, Windows 7- Want to uninstall Skype Toolbar extension. I have disabled it but the uninstall button is greyed out. I went to extension folder in profile to delete but it is not there?

use - about:config and search for skype. in the extensions. part use modify (there is no delete) - Firefox team please note - need a delete here. Anyway, modify to remove these extensions and all should be okay. doesn't work with the mystart malware as this is still on your PC and therefore when Firefox starts up, it puts itself back into the extensions. this may be the same with some toolbars.

You are using an outdated version of Skype (<6.14), which is now disabled. All Skype versions older than 6.14 are retired and can no longer be used. The currently latest Skype version is 7.3.XX.101. You need to update your Skype.

  • Apple Software Update for Windows (2.1) has an invalid signature

When I run ASU and it wants to install ASU 2.1 I get the error that it has an invalid signature. It was suggested to use Tools and first download it and then install it, but I manage 350 computers and am trying to automate some of this.
Does any one have a suggestion?
I wonder if Apple will issue a patch, or if there is some amiss with my current ASU.
    Jane

Thanks for the replies, but what I am hoping for is a solution.
Even though I asked, you never said if you have an ASU 2.0.0.21 ... so this solution runs the risk of being irrelevant to your situation. (It applies to the issue of ASU 2.0.0.21 on an XP PC returning an "invalid signature" message when trying to download an ASU 2.1.0.101.)
If that's what you've got here, then usually a software installer bundle from Apple which contains a higher version of ASU than the 2.0.0.21 will install on the PC in question.
(Avoid using the BonJour for Windows 1.0.4 standalone installer just at the moment, as a precaution. Last time I checked, about 20 minutes ago, that still contained an ASU 2.0.0.21, and that won't get you any further forward than you currently are ... assuming that you've currently got an ASU 2.0.0.21 in place.)
So download and install another Apple installer bundle. Here's a link through to the QuickTime Standalone installer, although the Safari for Windows or iTunes installer would also work:
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
That should, as part of the install, update your ASU to version 2.1.0.101. To check on that, launch ASU ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"), go "Help > About Apple Software Update" and check the version number. If you're now at ASU 2.1.0.101, you're past the problem with ASU 2.0.0.21 returning an 'Invalid signature" message when trying to install an ASU 2.1.0.101 (assuming that's the particular problem you were actually experiencing).
You can then uninstall QuickTime for Windows (or Safari for Windows, or iTunes and QuickTime and Apple Mobile Device Support, depending on what installer you used to update your ASU version) through your Add/Remove programs control panel.

  • Upgrade to I-Tunes 7.4.2 with Apple Software Update for Windows

I upgraded to I-Tunes 7.4.2 and that went great. But I was also offered an Apple Software Update for Windows which would not install. The error message said something about a part of it not being able to run. Is this a Vista thing? I still have Windows XP and don't plan to change to Vista. Will I have issues with newer versions of I-Tunes if I can't get this Software Update for Windows to install?
    Thanks!

  • How Do You Filter, Or Stop Automatic Updates From Windows or HP to a Windows 8, 2000 Notebook PC.

I would like to know how I can see automatic updates from Windows or HP before they go into my computer?  The reason is, is that these auto updates mess up my IE and my printer software.  I have a HP 2000 Notebook PC, Windows 8, 64 bit.  I would like to be able to filter or see these updates before they go in my computer.  Is there anything I can do, or a setting I can set?
    Thanks,
    Susie

    Hi Mikipups,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 2000 Notebook and issues  Microsoft updates. Here is a fix from Microsoft.
Type Update in the Start Menu search box, select Windows Update from the top of the menu and in Windows Update select Change Settings on the left side of the window.
    Hope this helps.

  • My Cloud applications manager quit and I can"t get updates.

My Cloud applications manager quit and I can't get updates. Windows explorer keeps shutting it down. How do I remedy the situation.

    Hi S1Nov,
    I would try
    - Restart the computer
    - Try getting the updates with all applications closed except the Adobe Application Manager
    - If issue persists try closing applications in the system tray by right clicking on their icons and choosing Close or Quit and then applying the updates again.

  • I can't update skype and can't uninstall it. Help!

I use skype quite fequently, but I'm getting annoyed by it:
I keep getting a message every time I start my computer prompting me to update skype. Trouble is I have tried numerous times and every time I try it comes back with an error code and tells me that it can't update it because there is another version of sype still running, saying I need to uninstall that version first.
However I can't uninstall it because 'Skype' is not showing up in my list of programs when I go to the control panel and click 'uninstall a program'.
I've even tried to just delete it from the C drive/program files(86), but that it also won't allow me to do because 'the program is open in another application', even when I've used Task Manager to shut it down.
All in all a massive headache.
    Any advice, please!

  • Windows 7 on domain, only domain admins can install/uninstall and update

We are rolling out some Windows 7 PC's at work and are noticing some problems with Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat 8 on these new machines.  If a normal user is logged in to a Win 7 computer he/she cannot install, uninstall or update either adober reader x or Acrobat 8, they are met with the following error:
Error 1324: The path to My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again
This pops up immediatly when the choose to install.  All of our domain users are set up as local admins on their macines (Domain Users has been added to the local Adminstrators group).  The only way anyone can install or update without the errors is if we add them to the Domain Admins group which for obvious reasons we can't do.
Any ideas?  I can't seem to find a solution for this searching online.
