Can't uninstall Visual Studio 2013 Professional

I installed the trial for Visual Studio 2013 Professional. Now when i try to remove it I can't. When I click on VS2013 in Programs and Features and select "Change" I get an error that says "Microsoft Visual Studio Professional
2013 with Update 4 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." and a Debug and Close Program button. I have re-installed the
program and it still does the same thing. I can run VS2013 and I don't get any error when I open it.
Is there any other way of uninstalling the program?

Hello Patti Neavin,
Have you tried to download a standalone installer and run it to uninstall? The installer may leave something in your OS so that it can use it to uninstall your setup. I think that package may corrupt. So if you tried to use a standalone installer which is
alright, you may fix this problem.

"Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Professional Stopped Working" When I'm Trying To Install

So for a college class we were given a link to a visual studio exe file. Visual Studio 2013 Professional Update 2.
When I try to run the exe file it just gives a black rectangle for a few seconds with the visual studio logo on it then stops and gives the message I showed in the thread title. and it also says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I have the 4.5.2 update.
Can't figure out why I can't install it.

According these errors, It seems the issue was due to you are using a web installer and your installation source may be corrupted.

Can't install Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 8.1

When i want to install Visual Studio 2013, an error message appear :

I am using Windows 8.1, and i checked Visual Studio 2013 system requirement, it should run on Windows 8.1, but i can't install it on my PC.

You do know that win 8.1 preview will expire on Jan 15th right? Preview is a beta build and if I were you I wouldn't worry about VS not installing until you upgrade to the released build of 8.1

Most of the cases related to the info "visual studio core features fatal error during installation" are caused by corrupt package. Can you consult dreamspark support to know whether you can verify your source(VS installer)? Dreadmspark
seems use some different ways to provide you the source file, so I'm not sure common ISO verify step works for you.
Anyway, actually you can try the VS2013 Community Edition and you can verify the ISO of it by refer to here:

I can't install Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate in my Windows 8.1 Pro

Good Day Everyone!
I have downloaded an ISO file of VS2013 installer from Microsoft Download Center. I have checked the requirements and I have what it needs to be installed. But when I mount the ISO disc image, an error message appear.
G:\
Application not found.
I also tried to run it from the inside and another error shows.
Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate has stopped.
I have the ISO file checked and it matches the CRC and SHA1 posted from the download center. I also have .net frameworks 3.5 and 4.0 installed in my laptop.
I don't know what else to do. Please help. Thanks

Base on your question, please follow these steps to check the result:
1.Update your windows and disable Anti-Virus software, then reboot your system.
2.Clear your %temp% folder.
3.Run the setup file as administrator.
4.If the installation fails, please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the latest installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to

If it doesn't work,we suggest you burn the image to Disc ,and install
Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate by DVD.

"Replace" vs. "Replace and find next" in Visual Studio 2013 Professional

Sometimes, when doing a large/risky replacement, I would like to find a hit, do a single replacement, inspect the replacement, then find the next hit, do a single replacement, inspect the replacement, and so on, before finally
doing ‘Replace All’. Visual Studio seems to find the next hit immediately after executing the current replacement. Is there a way to change this default behaviour? It would be a really nice feature.
I have looked in Options > Environment > Find and Replace, but the options listed are not relevant to my requirement.

Nope. You can't do exactly that.
There are alternative approaches though.
ONE
If you use the Replace In Files feature (Ctrl+Shift+H) you can select the scope of your find to be Current Document (or whatever is appropriate for you) and make use of the Result options to List results in a find results window. Do
a Replace All, and then you can curate your results individually by navigating through them in the find results window. If you check "Keep modified files open after Replace All" then an undo operation on any modified file will restore
the effects of the replace all, should you need to back out of your changes.
The difference between this approach and your approach is that with my suggestion, all the replacements are made ahead of time, and it keeps a list of all such places that need to be reviewed.
This is my preferred approach.
TWO
If you use the Find All feature it places a reference to each location in the Find Results window. (Find all is chosen by clicking the dropdown arrow to the right of the Find Next button in the Find window -- no keyboard shortcut for this that I
know of.) After each replacement you can click on the line you replaced and navigate back to it. If you're only going to do a few, this is a reasonable thing to do.
THREE
I don't usually find it too difficult to pre-visualize what the replacement will be. I am curating the results before I do each replacement. It selects the text for you so you can see
where the replacement will go. I realize that it doesn't show you what the replacement will be for something like a backreference, but it's not usually too difficult to figure out, is it?
This might be the "suck it up" approach.
FOUR
Write an add-in. It is possible, (although quite a bit of work), to augment Visual Studio in this way using a
VSPackage.

even-tho we selected all the features at the time of visual studio 2013 professional installation.
System is Up-to-date .
windows 7 Professional with 64-bit OS .
Latest 4.5.1 framework has been installed .
Report viewer 2012 run time and report viewer 2011 has been installed successfully .
Sql management Studio 2012 with all the features has been Enabled with Business Intelligent Tool has been enabled.

I get the following errors when trying to compile any type of project after an install visual studio 2013 professional with update 4 on a computer that has no access to the internet. No previous versions of visual studio have been on the machine.
Warning MSB8003: Could not find windowssdkdir from the registry. Target framework version or platform toolset may be set to an invalid version number.
Error LNK 1104: cannot open file kernel32.lib
Any ideas?

Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate with Update 4 Installation Hangs on "Windows Software Development Kit" step

I am attempting to install Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate with Update 4 on a Windows 2008 Server R2 machine that also has Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate already installed.
Unfortunately, the installation always hangs on the "Windows Software Development Kit" step. I have let it run overnight and the installation process never gets past this step. I always have to just kill the process, and uninstall.
I have validated the checksum of the ISO, run the .exe as administrator, and also tried to install the software to both the C and D drive.
I have also tried to run the installation with all of the optional components checked as well as with none of the optional components checked.
In addition, I have uninstalled visual studio 2013 using the /uninstall /force command
I have examined the log files produced at C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Local\Temp and I dont see anything obviously wrong.

Can I install Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition on the same development machine that has Visual studio 2010 professional and Visual Studio 2005 Professional also installed?
Will SAP's Crystal Reports work with Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition?

Yes. the three different versions (2005 vs. 2010 vs. 2013) are independent entities designed to install and coexist on a single system.
As for CR, you'll need to ask SAP about that.

Installing Sharepoint Phone SDK for Visual Studio 2013

I am trying to install the SharePoint 2013 Phone SDK on my desktop computer (Win 8.1, 64bit) running Visual Studio 2013 Professional. VS2013 comes prepackaged with the Windows Phone 8 SDK, but the SP2013 Phone SDK installer fails to recognize it and promptly
cancels the installation. Is the SharePoint 2013 Phone SDK not supposed to run on VS2013?

Restart the computer and try to install the SDK again. if it fails again then
go to start > run > %temp%
Here check the latest file which will have installation details of SDK. Please let us know the error you see in this log file.
I Assume wind 8.1 can be the issue

SQL Server Express and Visual Studio 2013

In February I installed Visual Studio 2013 Professional. Looking in the Control Panel at all my installed programs, I see that I have a bunch of SQL server-related programs loaded, from the 2013 install and also from installs of previous Visual Studio versions.
I've never done a thing with SQL server express, and am completely clueless about using it. I've already wanted to take a crack at it but it always seemed too daunting, so I backed off. It seems, however, that over the years the integration of SQL Server Express

Scripting in Visual Studio 2013 against Sharepoint online - is it possible?

Hi,
I've been plowing through documentation on developing SharePoint apps but all I really want to do (right now anyways) is getting a more robust environment for coding scripts and HTML on SharePoint online 2013.
Currently I'm using SharePoint Designer 2013 to edit scripts that are in webparts like the Content Editor. It works but SharePoint Designer has terrible syntax highlighting and when things get complex it's a pain.
Question is: How can I point Visual Studio 2013 Community at a SharePoint 2013 online (Office 365) site so that I can open scripts and edit/publish like is done in SharePoint designer? I need to be able to achieve this without all the sharepoint server
malarkey.
Is it possible? Can someone point me at a resource? I've done a lot of digging but can't find anything so maybe not doable but couldn't hurt to ask.

While working with app development, especially SharePoint hosted apps you can use SPFastDeploy VS extension to deploy the changes from your app.

If you create a SharePoint will create set of script files where App.js is the Key file and for HTML you can use Default.aspx. You can make changes to these files and just deploy only those changes to the App which will save lot of time and you can see the
changes immediately.
Regarding VS 2013 community, i haven't tried yet specific to SharePoint apps development.

I am trying to install SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 and am getting the following error

Could you please check if Windows Installer service is running and is in automatic startup mode.
The other thing is, if you’re running an x64-based SQL instance (64-bit), make sure to select “New Instance” on the Installation Type page, and NOT “Add features to an existing instance”.

Visual Studio 2013 Missing Design, Source and Split buttons

When editing a HTML file in Visual Studio 2013 Preview or Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web, the Design, Source and Split tabs are missing from the bottom left of the editor even though the "Enable HTML Designer" box is checked in the Options
drop down.
This behavior occurs in the Web install of Visual Studio 2013 Preview and both the Web install and .iso install for Visual Studio Express 2013 Preview for Web.
