Can't "unselect" Emoji keyboard

My IPhone 3 is having a problem with the Emoji keyboard in that I can't select normal text when typing a message, either in Messages or Whats Ap. When I try to unselect it under Edit>Keyboards it won't play nice. I downloaded the latest ios this morning which reset my phone and still have the problem. Help please 'cause I can no longer send texts and I can't afford a new phone.

My bluetooth keyboard rarely syncs with my G5 on startup or after sleep but I put this down to using a belkin unsupported usb chip (i'm assured they link properly with an internal apple certified bluetooth chip). I've found the best way to sync is to turn off the keyboard (switch on back) and turn it back on. Then type on the keyboard - i know, sounds mad, but if you just type away it's sending signals out all the time and eventually it just syncs and starts typing on screen. I've found key combinations are best, for example, shift-a letter or control and spacebar... just anything... just type away until it connects!

Once the keyboard is connected, it should work with any app that uses the standard keyboard interface, so it will work with iWork.

Eureka! I kept searching and found the solution. So, if anyone wants to know here is the solution: press fn and the up arrow on F Keys (top) row (it's the one all way to the right. The iPad keyboard will then pop up on the iPad and from there you can access the emoji keyboard.

Go to Settings>General>Keyboard>Add Keyboard and add the emoji keyboard. Then you access that keyboard by tapping on the globe icon to the bottom left of the keyboard area and it will toggle between your standard keyboard and the emoji and you click away!

Yes. you should keep your media in iTunes, and indeed you should also keep a backup of your library as well. if you have the device set up for manual management then the content would remain on it when deleted from the library, but you would have no way to restore the device if there was a problem.

I Can't add Emoji to my iPhone 5s keyboard. When I select Settings > General > Keyboard and Tap Keyboard, the screen returns to utilities folder. I can't select keyboards at all. Help.

Today I tried it in a safe mode (a see through text on a lower left corner, indicating it's on). Now keyboard is original, I believe, because there's some chinese character on a right side of "space". So... new message... add recipient... then a few words as a message itself... clip is visible... hit it... it turned to an "X", but nothing else happened. Nothing.A new tap on "X", and clip is visble again.A keyboard does not disappear...Then... I hit the "down" arrow to hide keyboard... it disappears and after that, a clip is on a lower left corner... when I hit on it to add a pic... I can see those buttons for a fraction of a second... until keyboard appears on top of them. So... there's no difference between normal/safe mode.

Why can't I activate Emoji keyboard?

I easily enabled the Emoji keyboard on my iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS4, but I cannot activate it on my wife's 3GS with iOS4. Why will it work on one phone but not on another? They are identical hardware with identical software on the same plans and same network (they are even billed on the same bill).

I find this to be incorrect. on my iPhone, I have the english keyboard and the emoji keyboard enabled, and they are toggled with the globe icon like any other keyboard.
It looks like I was wrong, the emoji key on the Japanese keyboards is there even when the Emoji keyboard is turned off. But for me turning on the Emoji keyboard does not result in another keyboard (or a globe icon if there is only one other keyboard active). So it doesn't seem to have a function.....there must be a trick to it.

After update to iOS 8.3 I do not have emoji keyboard.

Prior to the update I had Emoji++ keyboard installed; which worked fine. After the upgrade, the Emojii++ keyboard crashes occasionally (it never did before).
I was hoping I would get the new Apple emoji keyboard after the upgrade but it isn't there. I uninstalled the Emoji++ keyboard then deleted it from my iPad Air, but the Apple Emoji keyboard is still not there, just the speaker button.
I backed up before upgrading, so I tried doing a restore with the thought of removing Emojii++ before the 8.3 upgrade. I've never restored before.
When it was finished restoring I was presented with a plain screen with the following text "swipe here to upgrade". I assumed that this was "upgrading" me to 8.2 because there didn't appear to be any other option. Unfortunately, this put me back to 8.3 and my current issue. What else could I have done besides "swipe here to upgrade"?
I Really want the Apple emoji keyboard, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Screen Frozen on Emoji Keyboard

I have an iphone 3gs, and the screen froze on the emoji keyboard. I tried turning my screen sideways to see if I was just hitting an insensitive spot trying to change from emoji to alphabet, but it will not change the keyboard either way. I can do everything on my phone but type messages other than emojis, and as I recently discovered, delete my running apps. Although holding the running apps down will cause them to wiggle, which would normally allow me to delete them, my phone will not let me actually delete them. Ive tried syncing my phone to my computer, resetting it multiple times, and left it turned off overnight, hoping it would somehow help. I've even tried turning off the emoji keyboard - which it will also not allow me to do. I updated my phone a week ago now, and havent had any problems until now. I am trying to avoid restoring my phone if at all possible. Has anyone had this problem, or have any suggestions as to go bout fixing it? Thank you!

Can't see emoji characters in an email

Hi All,
i have always had a weird issue that I hope someone can assist me with...
On my iPad and iPhone, when someone uses an emoji character when emailing me (I just tested it with an emoji smiley face) I can see the emoji character properly rendered in the preview lines of the Mail app, but when I look at the actual message, it's rendered as a capital J.
I believe this happens in both Exchange and in Gmail. Not sure that it's relevant.
I don't think it has anything to do with having the emoji keyboard installed, but I DO have it installed...
Any help?

But they presumably did not send an emoji in the body, they sent a J. You can double check that by doing View > Message > Raw Source. If you see J there, the problem is clearly caused by the sender's mail app or the stuff handling his email on the way to you.
If you see an emoji in the raw source, let us know.
If you send yourself a message with an emoji in the body, do you see a J in the copy in your Sent folder? Or the copy in your inbox?

Emoji keyboard shortcut not working on Yosemite

On my iMac running OS X 10.10.2 I'm trying to use the keyboard shortcut ⌃⌘Space to get the emoji keyboard shortcut menu.
Example:
Problem is I cannot get this to pop up on my iMac. I only get the full special character menu and the option to copy and paste the emoji then I have to erase all the code of the emoji which is a real hassle. Example of what it looks like when I ^⌘Space below:
Update: I tested this out on my friends Macbook Air and the shortcut works fine. The Macbook Air has the same OS 10.10.2 as my iMac. There are no settings that are different on these computers from what I can see. Only thing I know is it works on this computer and not mine. Can someone please help me with this issue?

Normally you should be able to double click or drag drop to input emoji from either version of the Character Viewer.
To get to the smaller one, just click on the little icon at very top right of the bigger one, next to the Search field.

No Emoji keyboard in keyboard list

I have an iPad 3 IOS6 and have had the Emoji keyboard active in the past. It is now gone and isn't listed in the keyboard list in Settings, General, Keyboards.
Only English and Japanese are listed. Does anyone know how to return Emoji to the list so I can activate and use it? Thanks.

My apologies, I skimmed the list of Add new keyboard and missed seeing emoji in the list. I added it and activated it and its fine now. Sorry for your trouble but your comments resulted in stimulating me to arrive at the solution. Thank you.
