  • I can't load Adobe Acrobat plug ins to view PDFs online

When online, it doesn't matter which web browser i'm using, I cannot view Adobe Acrobat files.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.  Is there an easy fix or should I just be sending my MacBook Pro in for a "good ol' talking to" by the genius's at Apple?

to view pdf files you need to download and install adobe reader from the adobe website.
also you can view pdf documents on the mac by using the preview application as well, the following article tells how to use this app:

The core problem is I can't open links that open PDF documents from Safari. Any ideas why this is occurring?
    Windows XP Prof.,Ver.2002, serv. pack 3, 2.26 GHz , 2.96 GB RAM

Your right: not clear. I'll try again. I may be in the wrong forum area of Adobe. The Safari on my PC: when I click on a link (that successfully opens on another web browser as a
"PDF") for a PDF document (say a brochure or something similar), I get a window that has "Adobe Acrobat" in the title bar. The message in the window states "There was an error opening
this document. This file can not be found". I have the following Adobe Plug-ins installed.
    Adobe Acrobat
Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape — from file “nppdf32.dll”.
    MIME Type     Description     Extensions
application/vnd.adobe.x-mars     Adobe PDF in XML Format     mars

application/vnd.fdf     Acrobat Forms Data Format     fdf
application/vnd.adobe.pdfxml     Adobe PDF in XML Format     pdfxml
I have "block pop up windows" off (safari preferences). The bottom line is I can't open PDF documents as a link from a web page. Do you have any idea why this may be occurring?
    I'd appreciate your comment/thoughts

Not quite sure what your question is - I simply don't understand it.
Shouldn't you rather install Adobe Reader to deal with PDF documents?
Please explain in more details if that doesn't answer your question.

  • Can't Update Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in in FX nightly 33?

This is related to the comments in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1005447?esab=a&s=Can%27t+Update+Adobe+Acrobat+NPAPI+Plug-in%3F&r=0&as=s
The same issue is occurring in FX 33 nightly. Clicking on the update plugin just leads back to the plugin checker.

  • FireFox 3.6.8 & ThunderBird 3.1.2 check for updates never connects, nor does plug-in update or get plug-ins

FireFox 3.6.8 & ThunderBird 3.1.2 check for updates never connects, nor does plug-in update or get plug-ins
    I am doing several re-installs.
I installed FireFox 3.6.8 and ThunderBird 3.1.2 on a fresh install of Windows XP Home SP3 x32.
All Windows updates and IE8, etc were done first after the WinXP install.
    IE8 works fine.
Firefox can connect to the internet to view webpages, but NOT do a check for a newer version.
(by going, on the main menu at the top, to Help --> Check for updates...)
    Neither can Tbird.
    See screenshots below.
Neither Tbird nor Firefox will complete the add-ons check nor updates nor 'Browse All Add-ons' feature.
(by going, on the main menu at the top, to Tools --> Add-ons --> Get Add-ons {upper left} or Find Updates {lower right for any of the selections})
Another computer, same 'build' (different hardware, but WinXP SP3, etc) using a connection from the same router going out to the internet works fine, so it is not an overall connection problem outside of the individually affected computer.
There is not yet any anti-virus nor firewall, etc installed that could be blocking things, except for Windows built in firewall, and there is no blocking action showing. Disabling it did not solve the issue.
6 hours of searching has not found an answer. Trying some of the search results just to see has not proven to be successful.
    Thanks.

    dianej,
Try this, go to tools, add-ons, extensions. if you have more than one (the latest) Java consoles, uninstall them. You only need the latest console and it should match the Java Platform in Plugins.
I had a VERY similar problem displaying weatherunderground. It would not display the pages correctly and I would get pages of errors that stated
"window.addEvent is not a function" I spent the last two hours fixing this problem. All I did was remove the 6.0.18, 6.0.19, 6.0.20 Java consoles from my 3.6.8 Firefox. After a FF restart, no more errors.
There should be more information in FF when you update Java. No one tells you that you should go in and delete the older consoles.
    Good luck
    Mick

  • I have updated Adobe flash plug-in but it continues to crash. It has crashed on me over 3 times in the last hour; why is that? Is it firefox?

I have updated Adobe flash plug-in more than once, but it continues to crash. It always does it right in the middle of a game or something I'm playing. Now, I pay real money to play these games so that I can purchase certain things, so this is now frustrating me. If it's firefox that keeps adobe crashing please let me know so that I can go back to using internet explorer.'''bold text'''

  • Can not update Adobe Reader as it did not come from Apple App Store.

Can not update Adobe Reader or Adobe Lightroom 5 as they did not come through Apple App Store.  Note says I selected not to accept apps other than from Apple.  Just started backing up new Iphone and Ipad to Macbook Pro.  Is there a setting some where that would allow updates?

Yes there is a setting for that. Open system preferences go to the security & privacy sections, click the lock icon and type in your password. Then in the "Allow applications downloaded from: area tick Anywhere.

  • When attempting to remove the Filmconvert plugin from my machine I noticed my adobe\common\plug-ins\CS5.5\MediaCore folder had Vanished !

When attempting to remove the Filmconvert plugin from my machine I noticed my adobe>common>plug-ins>CS5.5>MediaCore folder had vanished ! and there was also no folder for my cc version at all ? so digging deeper i noticed a large amount of my after effects plugins were installed separately in my applications folder ! I m very confused as to how this has happened and was wondering if anything like this had happened to any1 else ? and how to get everything back to normal ?
Im now worried theres something wrong with my bios on my Mac and i don't no why my plug-ins would have vanished from where they should be installed? as they still work fine in the actual software itself.

If you are on a Mac the Library folder is hidden. You have to jump through some hoops to get there.

  • I have repeatibly loaded Adobe Acrobat Reader but the Plugin Check gives me Adobe Acrobat Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.0.1 Outdated Version Update. While the plug in check is important it is quite bothersome at present. Please help.

EVERY TIME the browser boots it kicks off the plug in check. I understand that this is important but it is currently a pain. Once I update Adobe Acrobat Plug in the browser does not recognize that the plug in has been installed and keeps coming up and up an up an up.
This is the message I get.

  • How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard

How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard after installing it on Windows 7? Ive tried a few AcrobatUpd8**_all_incr.msp files but I get an error that the program to upgrade may be missing. I cannot afford to upgrade it to X* when this works for what I need it for which is simply to break up multi page documents created by Quickbooks.

Certainly, the printer driver in Acrobat 8.0 cannot install in Windows 7 64 bit - it wasn't written too. Apparently, though, 8.1 is capable of installing the printer driver.
Unfortunately, Adobe have taken down the page with release notes. But you may need to use the *efg* (English, French, German) versions. See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-7.html
After 8.1 there is a "universal" (all language) update.

  • Can i update adobe flash player on apple power book g4 running osx10.4.11

can i update adobe flash player on apple power book g4 running osx10.4.11. I have tried official website. Useless. Please do not say time to get a new computer.

    *Flash Player for PPC Macs*
Adobe's last release of Flash Player for PPC Macs was in November, 2010 with release 10.1.102.64 Subsequent releases are for Intel based Macs only.
To check your installed version of FlashPlayer - http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
Read this whole post before proceeding.  You have to follow steps precisely and there is mention of an alternative version of Flashplayer at the end that some have decided to try.
    To update you should download:
Flash uninstaller: [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,] Make sure you get the right one.
Flash installer 10.1.102.64 [http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.1.102. 64_and_9.0.289.0_archive.zip]  Open the archive to reveal yet more archives and multiple files. Select: flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg
    To install:
    1) Run Disk Utility and verify your hard drive.  If the hard drive reports errors then it will need repairing first (another topic).  If it verifies, run Disk Utility's repair permissions.
    2) Back up your hard drive, ideally to a bootable clone. A bootable clone will allow you to restore your hard drive to its original state should something go wrong.
    3) Quit all applications to ensure nothing is actively using Flash. You can even do the next step while booted to Safe Mode to make sure.
[Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393]
[What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564]
[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
    4) Run the uninstaller application. Adobe says, "Adobe recommends that you restart your computer before you install a different version of the player."
    5) Run the installer application from the .dmg file you got from the second download.
    6) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions on your computer. This is important when installing anything from Adobe.
    7) Restart your computer.
    Notes:
Adobe installs things all over your computer. Simply dragging a file or two to the trash won't ensure you have uninstalled all old file components.
Comments about Flash and Shockwave. [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2769507]
Flash player 11.1 hack on PowerPC - https://discussions.apple.com/message/16990862 - this gets FP to tell web sites you are running a newer version than you really are. This gets around web sites that don't really need a new version but think they know best. If they really do require it then this hack doesn't work.

  • Adobe pdf plug in for firefox, 10.1.4 version, does not work but can not update to new version, why?

Adobe pdf plug in does not work, when I tried to update following message appeared, "Adobe Reader 9.5.1 and lower has been blocked for your protection", how to solve this problem?

Could you review/adjust your preference for which program opens PDFs? I'm not sure how that drop-list behaves when there are multiple Adobe plugins. You might need to physically remove an old plugin file or two to make sure Firefox is not trying to use the old one.
    * [[Use the Adobe Reader plugin to view or download PDF files]] <br>
''Edit: actually this article describe how to use the Options dialog Applications section to review/change the setting: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]]''.
    * C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins (only one want nppdf32.dll here)
    * In regedit.exe, check the following key for the source of obsolete plugins: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MozillaPlugins
Both the file that stores download handling preferences, and the file which registers plugins, can be renamed and Firefox will regenerate them, so those remains options for further actions as well.
