Can't update Adobe Story or Login "Installer Misconfigured"

I am receving the following error when I try to log into Story on my computer - I have CS6:
Sorry, an error has occurred.
This application cannot be installed because the installer has been mis-
configured.  Please contact the application author for assistance.
I read through the forum here and it looks like I was to unistall Story (did that) the grabbed the download from the link above tried to insatll got the same message.  Then I unistalled AIR and reinstalled then tried again still same error.  Prior to uninstalling the Story app I was getting to the login and having the same error as the folks above.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Justice

Hi,
Please follow the following steps.
1) Uninstall Story Desktop app (you will not lose your data) - on Mac, drag drop the Story app from /Applications folder to Trash , on Windows, use control panel -> Add remove programs
2) Make sure Story is uninstalled.
3) Download the latest Story Desktop app from https://story.adobe.com/AIR/AdobeStory.air and double click on it to install it.
4) Launch Story
This should fix your problem. Let us know if you still face an issue.
Thanks
Sandeep

can i update adobe flash player on apple power book g4 running osx10.4.11. I have tried official website. Useless. Please do not say time to get a new computer.

    *Flash Player for PPC Macs*
Adobe's last release of Flash Player for PPC Macs was in November, 2010 with release 10.1.102.64 Subsequent releases are for Intel based Macs only.
To check your installed version of FlashPlayer - http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
Read this whole post before proceeding.  You have to follow steps precisely and there is mention of an alternative version of Flashplayer at the end that some have decided to try.
    To update you should download:
Flash uninstaller: [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,] Make sure you get the right one.
Flash installer 10.1.102.64 [http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.1.102. 64_and_9.0.289.0_archive.zip]  Open the archive to reveal yet more archives and multiple files. Select: flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg
    To install:
    1) Run Disk Utility and verify your hard drive.  If the hard drive reports errors then it will need repairing first (another topic).  If it verifies, run Disk Utility's repair permissions.
    2) Back up your hard drive, ideally to a bootable clone. A bootable clone will allow you to restore your hard drive to its original state should something go wrong.
    3) Quit all applications to ensure nothing is actively using Flash. You can even do the next step while booted to Safe Mode to make sure.
[Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393]
[What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564]
[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
    4) Run the uninstaller application. Adobe says, "Adobe recommends that you restart your computer before you install a different version of the player."
    5) Run the installer application from the .dmg file you got from the second download.
    6) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions on your computer. This is important when installing anything from Adobe.
    7) Restart your computer.
    Notes:
Adobe installs things all over your computer. Simply dragging a file or two to the trash won't ensure you have uninstalled all old file components.

Flash player 11.1 hack on PowerPC - https://discussions.apple.com/message/16990862 - this gets FP to tell web sites you are running a newer version than you really are. This gets around web sites that don't really need a new version but think they know best. If they really do require it then this hack doesn't work.

  • Can not update Adobe Reader as it did not come from Apple App Store.

Can not update Adobe Reader or Adobe Lightroom 5 as they did not come through Apple App Store.  Note says I selected not to accept apps other than from Apple.  Just started backing up new Iphone and Ipad to Macbook Pro.  Is there a setting some where that would allow updates?

Yes there is a setting for that. Open system preferences go to the security & privacy sections, click the lock icon and type in your password. Then in the "Allow applications downloaded from: area tick Anywhere.

  • How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard

How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard after installing it on Windows 7? Ive tried a few AcrobatUpd8**_all_incr.msp files but I get an error that the program to upgrade may be missing. I cannot afford to upgrade it to X* when this works for what I need it for which is simply to break up multi page documents created by Quickbooks.

Certainly, the printer driver in Acrobat 8.0 cannot install in Windows 7 64 bit - it wasn't written too. Apparently, though, 8.1 is capable of installing the printer driver.
Unfortunately, Adobe have taken down the page with release notes. But you may need to use the *efg* (English, French, German) versions. See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-7.html
After 8.1 there is a "universal" (all language) update.

  • Can't update Adobe Reader 10.01 (Mac Version)

I am running OS 10.6.7 on a MacPro (MacPro 4,1: 8 core - - 2mx 2.93 FHz Quad-Core Xeon). I installed Adobe Reader 10.01 uneventufully. However, many times when on the web Safari says it can't find Adobe Reader to read a document and I have to locate Adobe Reader manually. This didn't happen until after I updated to Acrobat 10.01. Thinking that this might be a bug, I looked for an update for Acrobat Reader. But when I attempt to update Adobe Reader to 10.03, it goes through the motions and then gives the follolwing error message:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation."
"Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again."
    "Error 1301"
I followed directions, reinstalled Adobe Reader and immediately afterwards attempted to install the update. Same error message.
I threw out the old version of Adobe Reader 10.01, downloaded it again, reinstalled it and then attempted the update, Same error message.
I've repaired permissions, used AppleJack to clean caches, used DiskWarrior to rebuild the directory. Same error message when attempting to update Adobe Reader.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks.

REFRESH - I have this same problem. I would like to update this, since I understand there are various security fixes included with each update of Adobe Reader. Is this correct? If no one has an answer, then how can I trash the updater so I at least don't get this annoying message anymore??? It pops up EVERY STINKING DAY!!!

Even though, I already have Air installed, Google Chrome won't install it and every other browser doesn't give me the option to download AS+.

I don't understand why the steps just couldn't be posted in the other discussions.

  • Can I use Adobe Story as a way to produce a newscast.

I am looking for a cheap way to do a rundown, write news scripts and put it on a prompter. Will Adobe Story be able to help with this issue?

    No.
If your iPhone has tethering enabled you can connect to it over wifi however. I don't remember offhand if the iPhone 3 has that feature available.
    Best of luck.

  • How Can I Downnload Adobe Story CC Plus into My Creative Cloud?

I purchased creatiive cloud back in December 2013. I called IT for help but said they could not do over the phone and directed me to the forums site. If anyone can help I would truly appreciate it.

There is an issue when logging into adobe story.  If you select adobe story from the Apps page of creative cloud, you are taken to a "Get Started" link.  Because you are already logged into cloud the system screws up and sends you to the free page with an option to purchase an upgrade.  Any link you use to try and log in results in similar results.  The following fix works some/most of the time. Completely log out of creative cloud and close the Creative cloud app on your system.  Clear your brouser cashe if needed.  Use the link below to connect to the Adobe Story home page.  Now when you connect you will be asked to log in again.  This time the system will see you are an adobe creative cloud authorized user and take you to the Adobe story CC Plus page.  There in the middle of the page you will see an option to download the "Desktop" version of the program if you need that option.  I used Windows IE 11 on a Windows 8.1 machine and this worked for me after hours of futile attempts via the Adobe pages.  Hover over the link to see the path.  Good Luck
