Can't update Apple TV to 6.0

I tried to update Applt TV but it says it is up to date with 5.3. Should I even bother updateing with all these other problems I have been reading about? Is this an apple software problem or did apple stop the update?

Your information is not correct. Due to the high number of upgrade failures, Apple most likely pulled the update from the servers. You do not upgrade the software by performing a full system restore.

The only reason to connect to iTunes is to restore when your Apple TV isnot responding.
If that's the case, make sure youre following the steps exactly (disconnect all cables, connect micro usb, reconnect power). Connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or usb hub. Try a different cable

I can't update Apple TV's software

I have downloaded the updated Apple TV software and when I go to install it the Apple TV shuts down and when it comes back up the picture of the Apple TV pops up with a ? mark above it flashes. It locks in that flashing mode and never installs. Anybody have any thoughts. Should I just see a genius? Thx

Try resetting the tv by holding down the 'menu' and '-' buttons on the remote for 6 seconds until the status light begins to blink amber.

Can't update Apple software - can you help?

As of 2 days ago, and for no reason I can think of, my iMac G5 will not update any Apple software (iTunes, Quicktime etc.).
The Software Update application (from the Apple menu) will not open, and clicking on its icon from System Preferences produces the error: Preferences Error - could not load Software Update. Prior to this, the function worked fine.
Trying to update the software 'manually' with the standalone installers for these applications does not work either. If I try to execute the .pkg or .mpkg files that I download from the Apple site, the Software Update icon fleetingly opens and closes again in the dock, but nothing further happens.
Apple Support (via telephone) suggested this might be a network conflict and suggested a fix (related to Ethernet network configuration) but this has not worked.
Any ideas for me?

Also, Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them.

The error 3194 means that "This device is not eligible for the requested build" A way to fix this problem is (Only on PC) 1st. Close iTunes 2nd. Look in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ Look for the "hosts" file, and click-it, when it asks you with what program do you want to open it, select "notepad". When the file opens, go to the very bottom of the text and copy this: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
After that, save it, open iTunes and try to restore with the firmware you tried last time. And it should work, when the restore finish, open the "hosts" file and erase the code you pasted there, so iTunes can look for updates properly.

Can't update Apple SW in Windows XP on Bootcamp Partition

I have windows XP on a bootcamp partition on my Macbook Pro 15". When I try to upgrade Apple software (such as Safari or iTunes), I get a message that a specific file can not be deleted and that the file or directory might be corrupt. I've tried the following:
* from the CMD window, "chkfsk /f" then reboot
* Using the tool UNLOCKER to delete the file
* Uninstalling the current version of Safari and iTunes then trying to reinstall them (no go, BTW)
All without avail. What else can I try?

I never use Apple Software Update, basically don't trust it enough.
You can manually download installers as stand alone though.

In Windows 7, user pref data is stored in AppData and there you will find folders in Local and Roaming for each.
Apple also uses a common application support folder used by Safari and others.
There are some problems with importing CDs in iTunes 10.1 but check that forum.
I'd ask in Safari for Windows and look for some of the tips/faqs in there where you can find more help.

I changed my apple id on the apple site. Now I can't buy or update apps because the ID didn't change on the iPad. I've tried everything, and the problem is incredibly frustrating. It appears after searching this problem that it isn't a new problem. How to solve?

Have you tried to Sign Out and than Sign in with your new Apple ID.

I can't update apple store different id??

After i downloaded mavericks i cant update anything in the apple store. It asks for a different user name and cant change because its gray. My original id is ****** it asks for ******Name is similar but i dont have a yahoo acount like that. Nobody else uses my mac. Can you help to fix this please??

You installed an app under a different ID, or else you installed a hacked app with a false receipt embedded in it. You need to identify and remove that app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.

To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

I changed my apple ID to a different email address a while ago. But I cannot sign in to icloud on my Mac because the Mac still shows the old ID. I can sign into icloud on the icloud site with the new ID. Because my Mac still shows the old ID, icloud is not storing any new data for me. How can I change my apple ID on this laptop? I already made sure it is changed everywhere I can, but I still cannot access my icloud information. Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To change the iCloud account, first you have to log out of the old one. Open System Preferences > iCloud, and if you don't want to lose your contacts, calendars, notes..., untick all services first. Then, press "Sign Out" at the left part of the window.
Finally, insert your new Apple ID and password, and follow the steps

I keep getting a message that an update is available for my Apple TV, but once I tell it to start, the progress bar never moves, and even an hour or two later, nothing has happened. Does anybody know what might be going on here?

Power cycle the ATV and router, then try again.
If it continues to fail, connect the ATV to a computer running iTunes via microUSB and restore.

I'm still working on getting the iTunes Store to open from iTunes. Perhaps I need to update some of the software that is not included with iTunes download.

Which particular version of iTunes are you running?
To check if it's an 11.0.x of some description, first bring up your Menu Bar. Click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Now go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen. (For example, mine says 11.0.2.25.)

If you dont have none option then you must own itunes some money. So you have to enter the payment like a itunes giftcard. you can contact itunes by email by going to expresslane.apple.com
