When I tried to update to Firefox4 it told me 4 wont work with OS10.2.8. Can I update Firefox 2.0.0.12 to an earlier version of Firefox than4? How?
    Thanks

I think the lastest version you can run is Firefox 2.0.0.20:
    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/
That is not a secure version, so you might need to switch to a browser that still is getting regular security updates.

can't update firefox. window says downloading firefox 3.6.18 connecting to server and continues forever

    Hi jrtartaglia,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Updating Firefox]]. There is a lot of good information in there and some troubleshooting steps as well.
If that doesn't work, you might want to try installing a fresh copy of Firefox:
    http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/
I would suggest that you first back up your personal information and bookmarks, just in case. You can find details in the article [[Backing up your information]].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I can't download Firefox 4 because my Mac says I "dont' have sufficient priviledges", and I'm the Administrator!

I can't download Firefox 4 because my Mac says I "dont' have sufficient priviledges", and I'm the Administrator!

Click applications... utilities... disk utilities. select your drive and click "check permissions" and let it run. when this is finished, click on "fix permissions" and let it run.
    This should solve your problem.

  • How can I update Firefox on my laptop?

How can I update Firefox on my MacBook Pro?

To which version do you want to update?
To the latest Firefox 3.6.11 version?
Did you try via Help > Check for Updates?
If that doesn't work then do this:
    * Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • Can you make Firefox 4 usable on Mac OS 10.4.11?

I would love to stay up to date with the latest versions of Firefox, however, my computer here at work is a Mac OS 10.4.11. As it stands now, I would need Mac OS X to update to Firefox 4. Anyway you guys can make Firefox 4 compatible with Mac OS 10.4.11? I don't see my company being able to upgrade computers (or operating systems, even though we need to) any time in the near future. Thanks!

There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

  • Updating Firefox messed up my Mac

When I updated Firefox, my Mac started acting weird. First Mail started rrunning very slowly and then Safari. After I rebooted, all of my cons in the Dock went back to the original Default setting. I do not know how to get my old Mac back!

WZZZ - Sorry I took so long to reply. Safari kept crashing. I finally got it running after 2 re-boots.  The problem may be coincidental, but all I know is that only change I made to my system lately was to update Firefox. I opened Firefox and was advised on the web page that there was a new version to download. I don't know what number I had but presume that the download was for the newest version. Within an hour of updating, my Mail started running really slowly (lots of spinning icon) and it would not let me open some of the older e-mails. And it wouldn't let me delete them either. Safari started running slowly and today it would not open without crashing "stopped unexpectedly".

  • How can i update my itunes in my mac, i cannot find in the software update, i try to download but i cannot find also the icon...

i have 10.5.8 version of mac, is it compatible for my new ipad latest version? because i cannot sync my itunes, how to do it???

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
iTunes 11 needs Mac OS X 10.6.8, so you have to upgrade Mac OS X.
First, open  > About this Mac and check if you see PowerPC in Processor. If you see it, you can't upgrade to Snow Leopard, so you can't sync the iPad with the Mac.
If you see Intel, check the Snow Leopard requirements > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 Then, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After that, make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, insert the DVD and follow the steps to upgrade Mac OS X.
The Snow Leopard DVD will install Mac OS X 10.6.3. To update to 10.6.8, open  > Software Update and install the available updates. You may need to run Software Update twice in order to install iTunes 11.0.1, that brings support with your iPad

  • Can't update Firefox from version3.0.10. Firefox option is NA under automatic update. Check for updates is NA under Help menu. How can I update?

On my Windows Vista 64 bit laptop, I have Firefox version 3.0.10.
I want to update to the most current version but all update options are grayed out.
On the automatic update screen under Advanced Options tab, the word FIREFOX is grayed out, so I can't select it.
Under the HELP Menu, the CHECK FOR UPDATES is also grayed out.
Somehow, something has happened along the way & now my Firefox can not/will not update itself.
I do NOT share this computer with anyone & I am the Administrator.
How can I get it fixed so it will automatically update Firefox again?
And how do I find out what the latest version # of Firefox is?
Thank you in advance for your help.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • I can´t update firefox in my MacBook

I have been having many problems trying to update Firefox in my MacBook. Finally I tried to re-load it, but when I drag the icon into the apps folder it keeps telling me: No se puede completar la operación porque no dispone de permiso para acceder a algunos ítems., which means "operation can´t be completed because you don´t have permission to access some items". What can I do? Thank you very much.

    * Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • How can I update Xperia neo software through mac?

Hi, I got myself the Xperia Neo last July (great choice btw). Now it wants me to update the software. Okay, no problem, I thought. Well, thought wrong, problem occured. I'm having a Mac and no PC so.... what to do now? Any suggestions?

Unfortunately you can only update the handsets software using a PC as we do not develop software for the Mac computer to be able to achieve this task.

  • How can I Updating firefox for linux in package manager ?

    Thank for reading my question.
I am a beginner off Linux. The computer sends almost all the time messages you have to update, it's to old. I have Linux from a package manager, but it is looks like everything is updated, must I change it? Firefox is sloooooow.
And gmail ask me to update. Updated manually Firefox have I done but never starts.
Is it a computer virus or something else?
    What should I do?

It is possible that your Linux distribution is no longer updating Firefox.
In that case you can consider the download and install the full version of the current Firefox release.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox 33.0.1 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
Make sure that you meet the System Requirements (GTK+ and GLib) for the current Firefox version.

  • How can I update Firefox without having the Web Crawler too.

I used the update to the latest Firefox offered when I opened my current version of Firefox. The download was uneventful.
Then I tried to use the "new improved version of Firefox".
When I tried to search for something my Google was overridden and Web Crawler took over. I could not remove any
reference to Web Crawler and have the new version work.
I finally ended up deleting Firefox completely and reloading from a thumb drive.
Everything is good again, but I would like to upgrade if there is a way to avoid Web Crawler.
Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

Watch out for unofficial upgrades, which sometimes are advertised in popups generated by web pages using official-looking text and images. If you get a prompt and you're not sure it's trustworthy, you can always get Firefox from here:

  • I can't update firefox. When I click on the upate link it says to click on the fire fox at the top of the page. There is no firefox at the top of the page.

Firefox button that says to click on to upgrade isn't there.

Does reading this article help you
*[[Update Firefox to the latest version]]
    ** specific document version https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version#firefox:win7:fx25
Are you posting from the device you have a problem on ?
    * Windows 7 computer using Firefox 25
The firefox button was the icon top left on your Firefox window. If you have a newer version of Firefox the button to use is the new {three bar icon) menu button -> Help {(?) icon) -> About Firfefox.
If you are unable to use that method then download a fresh copy of Firefox, from getfirefox.com save it on your machine, and then run the installer. Do NOT use any option to remove information, any offer to reset or refresh, and do not use any third party uninstaller.

  • Can't update firefox

check for update tab is not appearing on the help tab. instead an "apply downloaded update" is there. when i click it, mozilla restarts but the same problem retains. the problem started when i updated firefox from the standard user account rather than administor.

FF is not an Apple program.  Therefore, will not appear in Software Update which is only for Apple software.
You need to post on FF forums and/or contact their customer support since FF is a 3rd party browser.
The only Apple browser is Safari.
