Can't update Firmware on AEBN 2nd generation

My Airport Extreme 802.11N (2nd generation) is stuck on firmware version 7.2 as I have never been able to successfully apply a firmware update (latest is 7.5.2). Over the last few years I have periodically tried applying update using the latest Airport Utiity in the hope the problem is fixed - tried on XP, 10.4 PPC ... right up to Lion Airport Utility. The error I get is either error -1 or error 32. I have tried soft reset, hard reset, restore factory defaults but to no avail. It seems that others have had similar issues in the past, but I have never seen an answer posted. Any ideas?

The 2G AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) is capable of running a number of firmware versions, starting with version 7.2. These include: 7.2, 7.2.1, 7.3.1, 7.3.2, 7.4.1, 7.4.2, & 7.5.2. Your Mac stores all successful updates & a copy of the firmware from the last successful update in the ~/Library/Application Support/Apple/AirPort/Firmware folder.
Have you tried any of the earlier firmware updates and had the same results? ... or is this just happening with the very latest version?

All you can do is get a newer model iPod. The 2G can only go as high as 4.2.1. Its hardare does not support a higher iOS version

Before buying in App you should read the description carefully. Each App states the requirements and on which platform it will be able to run. And yes, sorry, many of the new Apps require IOS 5, and since they have been compiled for IOS 5 and their code requires the runtime support of the OS, it is impossible to run them on a different OS.
Please could you tell me if there is a way to update it without going via Itunes because a bit of internet research tells me that Apple do it so that you just have to buy a new Ipod. I do not want to do any illegal downloads.
An interesting question, but I will not be so taktless to answer that question in a forum provided by Apple, and you should not ask us to do that

You can upgrade your iPod on itunes to the most recent software it willl support. Anything past that won't work on your device.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

iPod touch 2nd gen can go up to 4.2.1.
iPod touch 3rd or 4th gen can go up to 5.0.1 (and future updates).

Ain't gonna happen. The 2G does not have the necessary hardware to support iOS5. The "Check for Update" process checks to see what version of Ipod you have. If your iPod does not meet the upgrade requirements iTunes will tell you....

Can't update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610, Hp update site shows available firmware update needed, disabled firewall, shut off wireless, run program, window for update appears, but checkbox greyed out. I've talked to HP Tech, He was positive newer firmware was available, I've tried starting in safe mode w/networking, disabled, MS Security essentials turned off,etc. Have Dell Dimension, excellent running, Windows 7 Home Premium, Xfinity cable network modem (very fast), I'm getting frustrated.

Before we start I have a request.
Press Setup on the front panel of the printer, and select Reports. In the reports menu select Print Status report. On that report, please let me know what firmware version is listed.
