  • Flash Player on MacBook Pro

Hello: I tried to install Flash 8 Player on MacBook Pro and it did not work. Then, I realized because maybe it's not Universal, it won't work. Does anyone know if you can install the Flash Player on MacBook Pro? Thanks in advance for your advice.

The special version of the Flash plug-in supplied with Intel-Macs can be restored by extracting a fresh copy from the installer disc. You will need to download Pacifist (www.versiontracker.com) and use it to extract a fresh copy of the Flash plug-in from the file archive on the installer DVD.
Please read the following about other possible incompatibilities:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
Be sure to verify with developer or from information on download sites whether software is a universal binary. Many of the incompatible products currently in use will likely be updated in time.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers. These versions are not universal binaries and will not work on Intel-Macs. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the only current choice is USB Overdrive. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior (does not work), TechTool Pro (does not work), SuperDuper (newest release works), and Drive Genius (untested) may not work properly on Intel-Macs. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

  • How to download adobe flash player onto MacBook pro

Hi, can anyone tell me how to download adobe flash player onto my new MacBook Pro with retina display please?
I don't know what operating system it has?

If you've a new Retina display MacBook Pro, it probably shipped with Mavericks - you can confirm this by going to the Apple on the menu bar and selecting "About This Mac...." if it says system 10.9 or 10.9.1, you're on Mavericks.
To install Flash Player, you must first download it from Adobe -> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. After the download is complete, you should have a file with a .dmg extension in your Downloads folder. Double-click this file and it will 'mount' as if it is a disk. There will be a 'package' inside and you must double-click this to actually install Flash Player.
Once Flash Player is installed, restart your computer and then open your browser. You should now be able to view Flash content.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Can't update Flash Player in I.E. 11

I have Windows 8.1 and I.E. 11.0.9600.17498. I went to the Adobe Flash Player help page, and it says I have 16.0.0 and Windows 8. But I have 8.1.
I went to the Find My Version Page, and got this:
I had the Flash Player update set to notify me when updates available, but I realized I haven't received any notice in ages. I went and changed it to update automatically. The trouble shooting page seems to suggest that if I have the latest Internet Explorer version, I will get the latest Flash Player. I tried to update I.E. there for Windows 8.1, 64 bit machine, but when trying to install, I got this:
I have Mozilla Firefox installed for backup. I checked it. It had the same outdated Flash version, but I was able to update it. I prefer to use I.E., just because I'm so used to it after all these years. Any suggestions?

Flash Player is a built in component of Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and higher.  Everything comes through Windows Update.
Flash Player in Google Chrome is a built-in component of Chrome.  Everything comes through Chrome.
Flash Player for Firefox and other NPAPI browsers is distributed via Adobe and can be downloaded at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  The settings that you're modifying in the control panel pertain to this specific Flash Player target.
Because Microsoft has their own distribution requirements (testing, etc) that need to be addressed before they can ship, we may occasionally beat them by a couple days when delivering an out-of-cycle security release.  Typically the difference is pretty negligible, and the synchronization issues are just practical limitations and a desire to get the fix out to as many people as quickly as possible when we discover something bad in the wild.  We get a little bit of a head start on Microsoft because it's our product, but they do a phenomenal job of getting the releases out in a timely manner.

  • Can't install flash 11 on MacBook Pro (fails at 55% progress

    HI
I'm trying to update flash to v.11 on Macbook but the install fails after about 55%. I've uninstalled the old version and tried various workarounds as noted on this forum but nothing seems o work.
    Anyone having similar problems?

Late late last night I solved the problem
I have  both Adobe Acrobat X Pro and Adobe Reader X
I could neither update Reader nor install Reader X1.
On a hunch,  I launched Acrobat Pro , was notified of update which I could not install, either.
Same error message about  a changed environment  as I had received when unable to update Reader .
Recalling I  had similar Adobe issue one or more years ago, I UNINSTALLED Acrobat Pro and reinstalled from scratch
    - I was then able to upgrade Acrobat Pro X
    - I was able to install Reader Xl

  • Can I update my RAM in macbook pro after having it for 2 weeks?

I just got a MacBook Pro and I want to know if I can update the RAM from 4gb to 8gb after having it for 2 weeks or if I have to buy it with the 8gb RAM already installed

Assuming that you have a current model MBP, you can actually install up 16 GB RAM.  The specifications are:  204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.
The two best sources for Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial. If you need instructions, go to the OWC web site and select the appropriate installation video.  You will need a #00 Phillips driver to perform the installation.
    Ciao.

  • How can I update flash player for mini ipad?

So I try to go on youtube in the safari and it does not let me, it says I have to update my flash player. I press install and it says Safari cannot read. Then I try google and it's the same thing. I don't know what going on!

Hmmm. We'll my bricked iPhone 4 is unaffected. I'm starting to suspect Dropbox as the problem. It's not on my iPhone 4 but it's installed on my iPad and Macs and I was seeing a page showing Dropbox as a place to update my iPad for Flash a few days ago before I did the latest IOS update.
I'll see if I can temporarily disable it.
