Can't update iLife in the App Store

I have purchased a MBA 13.3 inch with Lion. iLife was preinstalled, but not with the latest version, so I went the to the App Store. There I logged in with my Apple ID which is configured for iTunes / App Store and which I used to purchase my MBA. This account is also the Apple ID which is noted in Users & Groups as the Apple ID of me (the Admin)
If i update, it says 'You have updates available for other accounts. To sign in to this account, please use the account you used to purchase it.'
Because iLife was preinstalled, it's not between my list of purchased apps. Updating with an other Apple ID doesn't work too.
Thank you in advance.

The issue is that there was a process required for you to accept the preinstalled apps and opt them into your MAS account. You likely have not followed that process to accept them.
There have been two solutions offered, lately combining the two has got some folks up and running.
1. Click  > System Preferences
2. Click "User & Groups"
3. Click on Your account and look for "Apple ID" under Full name
4. Click "Set..."  and sign in your account apple id
5. Click  > App Store..
6. Click "Sign in" under Quick Link tap (right side)
7. Click "Update" tap on top
8. Click update your app
1 - Exit iTunes and the App Store
2 - Delete /Macintosh HD/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
3 - Reboot
4 - Open App Store
5 - Select updates.  Enter iTunes username/password when prompted.

  • Can't update iphoto from the apps store

I purchased iphoto from the apps store (version 9.1.1) to replace/upgrade the version that came with my 2008 imac, but have been unable to update to the current version 9.1.5. When I attempt to update (and the apps store tells me there is an update available for my purchase) a dialog box tells me to log into the account which i used to purchase the program notwithstanding that I am logged into the account.  Any suggestions as how to solve this problem?

I imagine if you delete the iPhoto app, you should be able to download and install the current version from the app store without problem. The conflict is probably because the version you purchased is disc based.
Prior to doing this, make sure you backup your hard drive so that you can restore in case you accidentally delete something that you need.

  • Can't Update Software from the App Store

The app store will not download any sort of update (iTunes or System Update). I click "install" and I have to "Agree" twice. Then I select "Download & Restart". The progress bar pops up and says "installing" then goes away. Under "Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days" it says has the "iTunes 12.1.2 update" and "OS X Yosemite Recovery Update" even though it never even downloaded and is still listed in the "Update Available" section along with "OS X Update 10.10.3 – Restart Required".
    Please help. Thanks!

I bought a new iPad in July in USA and it was set up by the Apple store in Houston, now I can't access my apps store neither can I view all my purchased apps.
Secondly, every time it want to update my apps that I bought years ago, it tells me to go to Nigeria store. I don't know why I must change to a store to update my apps
Thirdly, I think it's unfair to pay the same amount of Money for an IPad with those in USA and the you can't even download the good apps. It seems  the apps in the Nigeria store are those they don't want in the USA . Why can't we have the same quality apps considering we paid the same amount of money to buy this iPads. I think this is very unfair to us.

The apps available to you are dependent on your location. If you are not in the USA, then you cannot get the USA app store. Whilst you may think that is unfair, it has been a part of the stardard terms and conditions you agreed to when you setup the iOS device in question originally, as well as every time you click agree to the terms and conditions.
This is done because of two things, firstly there are many legal and semi-legal reasons that an iOS app store download is available in one territory and not another, in addition to this, it also allows apple to provide language specific content, as well as team up with companies and organisations within individual organisations in order to provide you with exclusive offers, content, and information, which it would not otherwise be able to do.
Rules for the iOS app store are also applied in varing forms for the music store, the books store, and the iTunes U content library.
I can very much understand your fustraition, as someone who spent a considerable portion of his life, especially during the years he grew up, living in California, USA, but now living in London, UK, I too find it very fustraiting that you cannot always get the same content from one country to another, especially when most marketing for iOS apps originates in the USA these days.
I hope this helps your query and helps to ease your fustraition. If you would like apple to be aware of your fustraition, rather than putting it onto a pubilc form which is on monitored in a very limited capacity, then you can fill in the form at http://www.apple.com/feedback where you can give your complaint straight to apple.

Remote location, 7kbs d'load speed, 10 days to d'load Lion, only software updates are through the App Store. Why can't we d'load and install outside the Cloud anymore? Some of us can't use the cloud and never will be able to.

That is true - I apologize for not being specific - what I was mainly referring to is iLife applications. I have a notice on the App Store that says 3 apps need updates, I look at the apps and they are huge so since my connection is so slow I use my work connection and d'load the files from support to my Windows machine and carry them home, once d'loaded my MacAir states it cannot install, the update must come from the App Store.
I do the same thing for large Leopard and Lion files and I can install them without error, it is just the App Store files that the system stops.

I get a message that I have 2 updates available.  I updated OS X for Mountain Lion to the latest version, but I can't update my iPhoto app.  I get the following message:
iPhoto can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.8.2 or later is required. You can update OS X from the Updates page of the App Store.
I've tried updating from the store, from the app, from Apple....anybody else having a problem with this?

I think that perhaps the store is under quite a large load at the moment.
    See this post. https://discussions.apple.com/message/19622224?ac_cid=tw123456#19622224
I used the combo updater, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581, that works OK. Update iPhoto after using the combo updater.

We could not compete your update.
Iphoto can’t be unstalled on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.8.2 or later is required.  You can update OS X from the Updates page of the App Store.   Why is this happening I have a OS X 10.8.1 (12B19) already installed but he update will not install, as a matter of a fact the update does not even come up in teh appstore.  I recently purchased the MacBookPro in May 2012, and updated with the new OS X came out.  I am new to MAC but enjoying it.  What do I need ot do.  Please do not say go back to the App Store.

Just bought a MacBook Pro 13" Retina for my wife (yesterday).  Having the same issue, iPhoto wont install, says i need 8.2.  But I cant update to that version.  Tried the App Store, but it says this computer is not compatible with that OS (really).  Tried the link above, and it wont install becauase it says there is not enough room on the harddrive.  I love Apple products, but the last month everything is buggy.  This is kind of the last straw for me. Please help.

  • I updated iPhoto but the app store still shows that red 1, how can I remove it?

I updated iPhoto but the app store still shows that red 1, how can I remove it? I can't right click, i cant do anything to get rid of it.

Nope that's not it, I always use that particular ID, but the @me.com portion of the Apple ID is missing when trying to download from the App Store on the Phone.
It is grayed out inside the App Store app so I can't change it there and I already changed it in the settings.
The entire Apple ID is fine in the Settings so I don't get why the App Store ID is different and missing information.

    Apple's response to my email:
"I understand that you can't update your apps using your iPad.
Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.
