Can't update Imovie nor GarageBand from Appstore?

I bought my refurbished macbook pro about a couple of months now and eversince i got it its always been showing it needed to update garageband and imovie.
So I tried updating them in the appstore but it tells me the applications aren't linked to my account...? How do I update those two?

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update.

- If you have a 1G ipod you can't update past 3.1.3. To identify yourd see:

- Be aware that if you can/do update the iOS to the latest (4.2.1 for a 2G and 4.3.4 for a 3G) you may not be able to sync to the old computer since that computer will need the latest iTunes to see/sync with the update iPod. Yo need an Max with at least OSX 10.5.8.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to the computer by:

You can use on of the third-party programs dicussed here to transfer other stuff:

Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file to the new computer you will loose all app data and restore from that backup. That file is located:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

Cant update imovie and garageband

hello i try to update imovie and garageband but couldnt do it keep showing up the message "The version of iMovie installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available." so i try to follow the guide on your link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4185346?start=0&tstart=0 but i did not find the accept part they were refering i was wondering if there is something wrong.

Purchased from where? If the MAS, then contact http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/ and let them sort things out for you.

Running Mavericks but can't update iMovie 9.0x-9.09

I went from 10.6.8 -> Mavericks and was running iMovie 9.04- I think the imovie 9.09 update was for Lion so it was never offered as an update.
The less said about the new version of iMovie the better, but it won't let me run on two screens... big fail.
I am using 9.04, and it finds the 9.09 update, but directs to the app store, but the App store doesn't offer it as an update. I manually downloaded the update but it won't run as it tells me I have a newer version, sigh...
I can't find anything obvious in the receipts folder to try and rmove to trick it.
Any ideas how I can successfully update imovie 9.04-9.09 please?

You cannot. You can only upgrade to the currently supported version of the iOS which, at this time is iOS 7.0.2.

Umm, no. That is an hoplessly out of date software that no longer qualifies for any upgrade pricing. if there ever was, it probably would have qualified up to CS2 or something like that... You will have to buy a completely new license and the current version is CS6, not CS5.

Everytime I try and update iMovie and iPhoto from the App Store I get an "an error has occured" followed by a "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (20)." I tried to download the update from the apple website, but much to my chagrin I was told "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available."

I have only had one AppleID ever. I do not have any other AppleIDs. My kids have thier own... and only one each for this very reason. Pick an ID and stick with it becuase it will be with you the life of ownership of Apple products.

GeeD, I do not have macKeeper installed. And I am running iMovie 10.0.2.
