Can't update iPhoto via App Store

I've tried updating iPhoto via App store, and it tells me to sign into the account I used to purchase it. I never purchased iPhoto. It came with my Mac, and I remember clicking "accept purchases" when I was setting it up. Now this button disappeared, and I can't update any of the iLife apps. Ironically, I can't even buy a new iPhoto, because the App Store says it is installed, but it does not appear in my purchases list. Tried reinstalling Lion and it tells me that my ID was not used to purchase iOS X Lion. I don't want to call Apple, since they charge me for calls I make. What can I do?

You need to contact App Store support. They are the only people who can help you with this. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store window

  • Can't update iTunes via App Store

Launch iTunes, it'll say that there's a new version to download. Clicks download, opens up App Store but no, no iTunes there. Only happens with Yosemite, never happened before in Mavericks. Sure, I can just download the latest iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ but it's such a hassle. Why is this happening and is there a way for me to fix it?

    Anyone?

  • I can't download IPhoto from App Store because I have mac OS X 10.6.8

can't download IPhoto from App Store because I have mac IOS 10.6.8, how I can download it?

    Simply, you can't download it.
If you want to upgrade to iphoto 11 then you'll need to either
    1. Upgrade your OS to 10.7.5 - which requires a purchase of the OS
    Or
    2. Find an iLife 11 install disk. You may get one on Amazon or Ebay.

You are doing all that you cn do right now other than to update the apps in iTunes on your computer and sync them to the iPad.
There has been a problem with the App Store updates tab for a few days now and we are all waiting for Apple to fix it.
Look at all of the discussions on the iPad forum that are talking about this right now.

  • Can't buy iphoto in app store; another apple id on my macbook bought it before

Hello, i bought a used macbook air. after deleting the pre owners' admin account and deleting the harddisk i install OS X lion again. After that i wanted to buy iphoto in app store to use photostream on my macbook. But in the app store it wasn't possible to buy. The button says only "accept" and when i click on it i have to login with my apple id. after this a notification windows opens which says i'm not able to accept because another apple id (from pre owner) bought it before. i don't know his id  or password. but there is no possibility to buy it again in the store. it's just to accept but doesn't work...
what can i do   please halp me!

You will also find the Mac OS X Lion on your new-to-you Mac is tied to the previous owner's Apple ID. The two of you together need to contact Apple Care and request that Mac OS X Lion and the bundled iLife apps be releaed from his Apple ID, so that they can be accepted into your Apple ID.

  • Can't update my Mac App Store applications

I bought my Mac when my Apple account was set to USA and installed some apps like XCode, Adobe Revel, Twitter, Amazon Kindle, Touchgrind, iPhoto, etc. Later I changed my account's country to where I live now and where my credit card is from now to buy Pages. Now I can't update my applications and my purchased list is empty, even after uninstalling the applications and installing them again.
Imagine that I won't be able to update Xcode again, huge problem for iOS development. I'm think I'll do a complete reinstall using OS X Lion recovery but I'm afraid that I will have to buy iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand and FaceTime even if they are free with every new Mac.
Is there any solution? Will I lose my free iLife apps doing a reinstall?
I already contacted Apple support and they are very good in apologizing.
    Thanks!

The issue is that your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

Sorry, but you won't be able to update any apps purchased using a different credit or debit card account from another country.

They will probably reinsstall but you won't be able to download updates since they were purchased from another country.

  • Can't reinstall iPhoto from App Store

Before the 10.7.2 update, I had iLife '11 installed on my new MacBook Pro. When the update came out for 10.7.2, it needed to update iPhoto as well in order to sync with iCloud properly, so I went into the App Store and did that. However, the download got interrupted and I couldn't install it for some reason after that. I go to iPhoto, and it says "Accept" instead of "Install"-- I click it, it asks me for my Apple ID and password, and when I enter it, I get this message:
"These apps have already been accepted. These apps were already assigned to your Apple ID and are available in your Purchases list."
But the problem is, iPhoto ISN'T in my purchases list. I tried "check for unfinished downloads" and have searched the forums for hours with no luck. This seems like a pretty big bug and I'm hoping it gets resolved soon. Currently I have no way of downloading iPhoto! The rest of iLife works fine however.
Basically, I need a way to make iPhoto reappear on my "Purchases" list-- there's a little X by the apps as you scroll over them, but no way that I can see to make everything that was purchased appear if it is missing for some reason.
(note: I did a clean install of the latest version of Lion after this fiasco, but unfortunately it looks as though everything was saved on my Apple account so I have the same problem still-- and can't get iPhoto, even with a factory reset machine).
    PLEASE HELP!! Thanks.

    I had the same problem.
Apple has an option to "Hide" a purchase. For some reason iPhoto was hidden, so it would not appear in my purchase list.
To Unhide your purchases, go to Store->View account from the App store on your mac. If you have any hidden purchases it should give you the option to unhide it. After you unhide, the application will be avaible again on the purchase list and you can download it again. The Accept button should disapear and it should show "install" again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't update iTunes. App Store app says "no updates available"

    Hi Everyone,
I opened iTunes today and it said there was an update available
Clicking the button took me to the App Store app, where it said "No Updates Available"
I had noticed this when the Thunderbolt update came out and it didn't appear either (I thought it wasn't meant for my MBP, but now I know it is). I've repaired the disk, permissions, booted in Safe Mode and still won't show iTunes or the Thunderbolt update. I don't know what else to do.
    Please help.

Your pictures aren't showing, for some reason.
Not sure why Software Update isn't doing what it should do, but you could download the iTunes update directly from Apple's downloads pages:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1614
You could consider re-applying the update to 10.8.3 using the combo, which sometimes fixes odd issues:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1640
Ensure you have full backup you can restore from before updating.

  • I can't download iPhoto from App Store

Everytime I try to install iPhoto from the App Store it tells me, "These apps cannot be accepted on this computer." Can someone help figure out whar is it that I need to do?

  • Can't update software through app store, since Feb. Says no updates available. Error says server with specified hostname not available.

Can't update any software or apps through appstore. Updated Itunes after several months by download, install. Using my own Macbook on my network, never had this problem. Re-installed Mountain Lion. Removed file softwareupdate.plist from Library preferences. Repaired disks and permissions. Any ideas?  seems like a small issue, but this is pretty serious going forward.

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
From the App Store menu bar, select
    Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.

  • Update iphoto without app store

Is there anyway to update iPhoto on Lion without using the App Store? I have a room of 20 iMacs, that were bought over the summer. It is not feasible to update the software using the App Store, due to the 10-computer license. I'm trying to update the version of iPhoto (currently 9.1.5) to the latest 9.2.1.
I used to be able to just download the update and send the .pkg out but obviously this no longer works.

I was similarly annoyed at having to buy the current version of iPhoto when it came preinstalled on my Mac.  I spoke to Apple support about my '09 version of iPhoto (8. something)  The only way to upgrade was to pay for the '11 version.
If you are already on 9.1.5, you should get the upgrade free (okay I'm an optimist).  As for the App store, everytime I asked about an upgrade it sent me to the App store.
Just because you have to go throught the App store, does it mean you will have to pay for the update?
Does each Mac notify if there are updates?
Have you tried clicking on the Apple, selecting "sofware updates"?
Mine does and will install free updates w/o going to App store.  I gather this isn't the case here?
    Just thinking it out.....

  • Updating software via App Store

When I try to update software through the App Store application it automatically populates the Apple ID with a previous owner for my computer. It will not allow me to enter in my apple ID. How do I remove the previous owner's information from my computer?

You'll need to use the Recovery system and use Disk Uitlity found on the start screen of the Recovery system, Mac OS X Utilities screen, to repartition the drive as one partition and then reinstall Mac OS X clean and fresh.
Whatever apps are now on that system aren't yours. They are the previous owners and can't be transferred to you.

  • Can't download iPhoto from App store to my MacBook

    Hi
I have been trying to  download iPhoto from the desktop app store to my MacBook Pro. No probs downloading other apps. Signed in with my Apple ID to make the purchase etc. After I click on "Install" it loads up - takes quite a while -  then nothing happens and it seems not to complete - it just shows the "Install" button again and I have to go through it all again, with the same result!  Help! It's so annoying!

Contact the support on the App Store. You've bought it but they haven't managed to deliver it.
