Can't Update iWork or Keynote

When I try to install updates for iWork and/or Keynote, I get a "missing component" error message.

I know this is probably not the answer your looking for, but I suggest re-installing Keynote as your installation is missing a crucial component to permit the requested action.

  • How can I update iWork using the Mac app store?

I bought iWork on DVD but would like to get the updates via the Mac app store. How can I do that?

    HI Judy...
You can only update software from the Mac App Store if the that is where it was purchsed and downloaded from.
Since you installed from the DVD, your updates should be available from your Apple menu > Software Update.

  • Help! Can't update iwork and imovie because "You have updates available for other accounts".

I recently purchased Macbook Pro with iMovie, iwork keynotes, pages and numbers preloaded in the machine. Now the App Store icon indicates that I have updates available.  So when I open up app store and click update, I got an warning stating " You have updates avaialbe for other accounts - to update this application, sing in to the account you used to purchase it".
I called tech support.  I was told that I must have had another account.  But clearly I don't have another account.  I'm not alzheimer.  If I had another account, I would have remembered it.  I used the same account for ipod, iphone, itune for many many years.  So I went on the support communities for help.  I read some post saying I should add my hard drive to spotlight privacy, then remove it.  I tried it, it didn't work.  Some said I need to enable something by entering a script to the terminal.  I followed the steps, it didn't work. Then some other post said that I should delete the apps, then reinstall it.  So stupidly enough, I deleted keynotes to "TEST" if it works.  Guess what? I completed removed keynotes from my macbook.  I can't even recover it?! At least before I deleted it, I had the old version of keynotes although obsolete, still functional.  Now I removed it, I don't even know how to reinstall it.
So, I'm so update and dying for help.  Can someone please teach me how to make my Macbook understand that I only have one account and let me update iMovie and iwork? Also, how to restore the accidentally deleted Keynotes?
    Thank you!!!

You're just going to have to get back to the support folks with your Apple ID problem - http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/.
They should be able to rectify the problem.

  • Can't update pages and keynote: "this update is not avaiable to my apple ID"

I've just bought a Mac Book Air 13'' 4GB and I've just updated it to the Yosemite. But when I try to uptade my keynote, numbers or Pages to the newest version, it says it is not avaiable for my apple ID since the app has been bought by a different user or the app has been canceled or something. What is happening? Can anyone help me?

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
    Step 5
According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.

  • I can't update iwork's 09

I bought iWorks 09 on DVD and i cant' update in the app store. What i most do?

    Here is my situation.
Have been using iWorks 08 till I upgraded to mavericks
    Downloaded the new Pages/Numbers/Keynote.
It *****, but that is beside the point now.
Main thing is it cannot open iWorks 08 files.
So I downloaded iWorks 09 trial, which can open my 08 files.
It is not practical now to open the thousands of iWork 08 files
and save them to iWorks 09 file format, which then can be opened
with the new Pages/Numbers/Keynote which I might be using in 6 months,
    when it gets better.
So in the mean time I have 08 files that can only be opened with 09 iWorks, which is a trial version.
Within iWorks I selected purchase serial number, which put me on an Apple webpage, which says
"Your are free to do just about anything". The old purchase page cannot be seen anywhere.
The new page seems like it is only about the newest version of Pages/Numbers/Keynote etc..
I suppose I am free to do just about anything, except purchase a 09 version.
    http://www.apple.com/creativity-apps/mac/?target=iworktrialbuy
In the mean time everyday when I startup the IWorks apps, they tell me how few days I have left till the trial is FINISHED. The countdown started from 30 days. After 30 days I will not be able to open my iWorks documents, which are littered all over the server from years past. Please don't anyone tell me to open all of them and save from 09, as it would take many days. We are a company and did everything in iWorks.
I tried purchasing the 09 version from the app store, but it is nowhere to be found.
No DVD is available (I am in  E. Europe) for the 09 version at any store or anywhere, because apperantly a serial number is needed from a DVD to activate 09, since I cannot purchase it online.
So APPLE, INC, what is the solution?

  • Can u update iWork's files on App?

I am trying to update my files from my Dropbox that were originally setup on Numbers for the MacOS on my ipad2 would I be able to do that without having a new document on my ipad2?

    Hi Yoshihiro,
SQL Azure as a data source is definitely a supported scenario, if at the end of the day, from Excel perspective, the source is SQL Azure I don't see a reason why it won't work but I am not an expert to the backend details of Access Apps
I actually tried doing it on a sample Access App I created, and it works. I used the read and write connection details (see below) and imported the data directly to the PowerPivot model. The scheduled refresh worked and brought data I added through
the SPO interface. This doesn't mean though that it is a supported scenario...
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I install iWork '09 on new MacBook with Lion?

I have an install DVD for iWork '09 (9.0.3), and I've been running iWork on my iMac for several years without a problem, even after upgrading to Lion. Now I have a new MacBook Air with Lion preloaded and am trying to install iWork on the new machine. I was able to install from the DVD using drive sharing, but when I try to open Pages, Numbers or Keynote, I get a message that says "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem" -- presumably because I need to update iWork for Lion. After downloading the iWork 9.1 update, I tried to open it but get an error message that says "A newer version of Keynote has already been installed."
This doesn't make sense to me, since the version I installed from the DVD is definitely older. How can I update iWork to run on my new machine?
By the way, I tried just copying the programs from my iMac with AirDrop, and I get the first error message I mentioned above.

    MN,
I don't know why the Drive Sharing idea didn't work. I can think of reasons that copying with AirDrop wouldn't work.
At some point you may just want to give up and purchase Pages using the Mac App Store. It's ridiculously cheap and easy.
I worry that you have so much inoperable iWork stuff on this computer that it needs a good clean-up, whichever way you decide to go.
Yvan Koenig has a script to do the purging of old copies of iWork files that you can run before you make any more attempts at installing iWork or any of its components. It the last item on this page as of this writing...

  • I would like to know how to send a presentation from keynote of may IMAC to my IPAD. The problem is that I have Iwork09 and in the IPAD is not possible to open it because it says that it can not open Iwork 09. So how can I do it?

    Lissette

Numbers for iPad will not allow me to import my Numbers '08 worksheets into it.  Ironically, Numbers for iPad will import .xls files.  So, in Numbers '08 I exported to XLS.  Transferred it to my iPad, and opened it with Numbers for iPad.
Seeing as how Apples applications for iPad are pretty limited, I'm guessing you can export your Keynote presentation to PPT and then import the PPT into Keynote for iPad; and that any loss you experience in exporting your presentation can't be played on Keynote for iPad anyway...

  • Still can't launch any updated iWorks apps after after reinstalling Mavericks

So Mavericks works fine and my old versions of iWorks apps were fine. The they updated to later versions. First of all I had issues, then realized that the old icons were still on the Dock. Once removed, they worked. Also removed old apps from the Apps folder. Everything was fine for a couple of days. Now, not matter what icon you click on, Dock or Apps Folder, the app icon with 'jump' but nothing happen - except the 'submarine' sound if you do it a second time. I then noticed I couldn't open the App Store either.
I did a reinstall (not from Restart>Command R) simply from the Insall OSX Mavericks install icon found in my App folder). This has had the effect of allowing me to launch all apps now, EXCEPT the iWorks ones (Keynote, Numbers, Pages).
I am at a loss.  Short of removing the updated iWorks Apps, finding my iWorks 09 DVDs, reinstalling iWork 09 then updating the new version via the App Store again, I don't know what else to do????
I need to open and update a resume to apply for a job ASAP, which doesn't help!

So WEIRDEST thing!!! I deleted/reinstalled facebook, and then tried an app that hadn't worked 20 minutes ago...... ALL my apps are working now! ***? well, sorta - my music is still missing...

  • Firstly I updated my ipad into ios7 and after watching the video by Apple, iWork, pages and numbers are free for download after updating iOS 7. How can I download iWork pages and number for free?

Firstly I updated my ipad into ios7 and after watching the video by Apple, iWork, pages and numbers are free for download after updating iOS 7. How can I download iWork pages and number for free? Please help me.

stevejobsfan is correct; iwork for ios is free only for new purchases of new ios devices. A good work around (if you have wifi connectivity) is going to the icloud website on your ipad, and working on your document.
A word of caution (the real reason I am responding to your post). If you do a lot of 'formatting' of a document on iwork for mac, and then save it in icloud; you will probably loose most of the formatting you have done (this will be true if you oppen the document in iwork for ios; also) It happened to me, and I did not duplicate the document before saving it to icloud; I lost at least an hours worth of work.

  • Can I update a disk version of iWork from the App Store?

  • Can't open iWork's after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I JUST upgraded from Snow Loepard to Mountain Lion two days ago.  I can't open iWorks does anyone know of a fix or an update to correct this issue?????
This is the message I get when opening Pages, Numbers and Keynote:

If you used the Mountain Lion installer it will have "migrated" your iWork software to the new system.
Unfortunately that doesn't always work properly. I had to reinstall mine from the original DVD.
If you can't find your DVD then you will have to purchase the iWork software individually from the Mac Store.
Just make sure to completely uninstall your existing iWork from your System first:
