Can't update mpeg2 component

I have D2187Z/A that I purchased in 2009, which shows as v1.02 in info when looking via Finder
I see there is a new product code for the component in the Apple Store : D2189Z/A
This leads me to think I am two revisions behind.
When I go to the store, click on Account, then Downloadable Items it shows my original purchase, and doesn't indicate an update is available.
If I click on download, I get 'page not found' error, which leads me to again think the product has been updated, and the old version is no longer available.
The link should either point to D2189Z/A, and let me download that update, or if the software is the same it should let me re-download the original D2187Z/A software.
So it seems there is an Apple bug either way
Can anything be done here ? Must be messing up others as well ?

Check the video driver setting for anti-aliasing, and reset to application controlled if different.

    Sylvia,
I cannot comment on PrE 3, as I did not start until PrE 4. With the latter, when one went to use one of the modules, they were automatically "registered." Based on comments in the Help file, I asked pretty much this same question, back then. All was done automatically, in PrE 4.
Maybe those, familiar with PrE 3, can be of help to you.
    Good luck,

  • Can't read mpeg2 files anymore

dvd studio pro, compressor and QTpro are installed on my G5 and I just noticed that I can't play mpeg2 files in QuickTime anymore. The .m2v encoded files in compressor are only readable in DVD SP or third party app like VLC.
It used to work but I didn't do any authoring for a while and now it doesn't work anymore
Is there a bug or conflict with the divx and various components I installed in QuickTime ?
Do I have to buy a new mpeg2 component key ?

Reinstalling DVD Studio Pro should reinstall the missing component.
Run software update after you do this.
    You should have QuickTimeMPEG.component 6.4.1
An update is avaiable here for those who purchased the component as a seperate item:

  • MPEG2 component issues

    Hey all,
I posted awhile back along with some other folks who seemed to be experiencing a similar problem. I'm running a PowerMac G4 with Final Cut Studio and DVD studio pro. While updating in the fall, I lost the ability to view/play MPEG-2 files or VOB or any like file. This past Jan. I repurchased the MPEG2 component from apple and tried installing it... and tried installing it again. Nothing I do seems to install the component properly. I've tried reinstalling quicktime, etc. I'm not sure where to go from here. Does anyone have a series of steps or checks that I can go through? Is there a special installation process because I'm using Final Cut Studio and Dvd Studio Pro? Is there really no fix for this?

Were you able to manually remove the older version of the component first? If so, then the installer you are running is -also- old and you need the newer installer, which installs the newer component.
Ahhh, I just found both installer packages...
control-click on the "QuickTimeMPEG2.pkg" file and select "Show package contents"
    Open the folder Contents
    Open the folder Resources
Open the file BundleVersions.plist (with TextEdit for instance)

  • Can't update iTunes, Safari or QuickTime

I can't update any of these programs on my Windows 7 computer. With Software Update, I get an error message telling me, rather unhelpfully, there was an error, and advising manual download. When I try the manual download and installation, there's another error message, saying I don't have access to a required component. See attached snippet:

I had this exact same problem just now, trying to upgrade to 10.7.
I even got that error msg when trying to UNINSTALL iTunes!
After hours of frustration trying everyone's different suggestions, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller http://www.cnet.com.au/apps/revo-uninstaller-10610875/ which solved the problem.
Use it to help uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then you can install iTunes from scratch.
    Good luck

  • Can't update iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1 through iTunes or phone itself

I've tried updating my iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1 through iTunes(latest update) and all i get is the 'Contacting iPhone software update server' box and then nothing. It just stays on this box with nothing happening for as long you allow it.  I've also tried through other Wi-fi networks with no success either.  I don't have wi-fi at home and can't really go wandering all over the country side looking for free wi-fi to use...
    Any help would be great...

This has happened to me as well. Trying to update either an iPhone 4S or an iPad2, I'm getting the dreaded "waiting for update server" message. 80billion in cash and you can't build data centers to match what Amazon and Facebook seem to have no problem doing?
Here's a new problem. The update to iTunes 10.6 downloaded no problem. But guess what? The latest versions of Pages and iMovie will only run on iOS 5.1 sooo they won't update on your devices. And don't get me started on how Siri was ruined from its original implementation as an independent app into the slow piece of non-understanding junk it has become today.
The update to iOS 5 was a nightmare that failed over and over until I finally had to search through online geek forums - something that I am not supposed to have to resort to with Apple products - in order to find out how to trick my devices into overcoming what essentially amounted to poor quality control before release on that install.
Now I'm going through the same experience. Again. I am reminded of the 90s before Jobs returned. It's clear now that his presence was needed as the final quality controller, and no one exists who can fill that role as of yet. Big doors of opportunity are opening up to people who can get the customer component right, again.

  • User-exit to update material component in a production order with a batch

I am looking for a solution to update a production order material component with a batch number what is stored in the configuration of a sales order. The production order is defined for salesorder related production. How can I update the field RESBD-CHARG in the production order.
Tried already the exits PPCO0001, PPCO0008, PPCO0021. Also looked for a solutions with batch search stratgegies, but I have no idea kind of possiblities I have here. Other problem is that we are stil on release 4.7.
Hopefully some can help me with a solution.
    Regards,
    Peter Geurts

    Dear
You have to update the batch in a production order component via RFC Call of BAPI_ALM_ORDER_MAINTAIN.You should also pass operation number to T_COMPONENT and T_COMPONENT_UP
    T_COMPONENT-ACTIVITY = Operation Number
You need to pass the following tables
    IT_METHODS should have 2 values
    Refnum - '000002'
    Objecttype - 'COMPONENT'
    Method - 'CHANGE'
    Objectkey - 300054 (Prefix the zero's)
    Append IT_METHODS
    Method - 'SAVE'
    Append IT_METHODS
T_COMPONENT should have the following values
RESERV_NO - Reservation number ( you can see in production order)
RES_ITEM - Reservation item ( you can see in production order)
BATCH - populate the required value
    APPEND T_COMPONENT
T_COMPONENT_UP should have the following values
    BATCH - 'X'
    APPEND T_COMPONENT_UP
Or else look at BAPI 'BAPI_MATERIAL_GETBATCHES'. This might help you.....
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_MATERIAL_GETBATCHES'
    EXPORTING
    material = MATERIAL
    BATCHNUMBER =
    plant = PLANT
    expirydatefrom = DATE
    Hope this will be useful

  • Bought QuickTime MPEG2 component - "installed" but it's not there

I just bought the MGEG2 component and ran the installer - it said it was going on my hard drive, ran the progress bars, etc., and even gave a nice cheery "installaiton Successful" announcement with an attractive green check mark,  Too bad it didn't do jack for QT's ability to open files.
When I look in my (hard drive)/Library/QuickTime/  directory, it's not there.
It should have a resource filenamed "QuickTime MPEG2.component" (everything there is for audio (AC3), Div6, Perian, Flip4Mac and the Save as AVI component from MPEG Streamclip.)
Antbody understand why it's not where it should be?
    Reference info:
    OS 10.6.7
    QT Pro 7.6.6
    MacBookPro (Intel 2 GHz)
    component installer v. 7.6
(creation date Jan 14, 2009)  <- too old?

    1) What part of their MP4 doesn't my version of QuickTime understand?  (It reads a lot of mpeg-4s, what does it need to know?)
You have two different facets here.
The first is MPEG-4/AVC (H.264) video multiplexed with AC3 audio wrapped in an M2TS, MPG, or MPEG file container. This has many problems. On the one hand the video is MPEG-4 and so the QT MPEG-2 Playback component cannot decode it but it is wrapped in an file container that is basically telling QT to use the QT MPEG-2 Playback component for video playback (i.e., much the same as why VLC considers the content MPEG-1/2 data because that is what both media players expect even though VLC can actually handle the audio and video data in this wrapper). On the other, QT is not natively compatible with AC3 audio and cannot play it natively even if it was able to "demux" the blocks of audio and video data properly and synchronize the two to a common external time reference which is the basis for QT media technology. (I.e., The wrapper being used is based on spatial synchronization of audio and video data interspersed in a single data stream rather than the temporal synchronization of up to 99 parallel data tracks normally used by QT—a basic difference in player technology akin to trying to play a BD disc in a CD player.) Normally, the way around this problem is to use iMovie '08, '09, or '11 to import your content. iMovie contains a special import/converter module to handle this content. Basically, it converts the AVCHD video to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec), converts the AC3 audio to resampled linear PCM (AIFF) and applies timing offsets as may be needed to ensure synchronization between audio and video content. This data is then wrapped in the generic QT MOV file container making the files compatible with any/all QT based applications. Unfortunately, the special module cannot be used by files already imported to your hard drive at the "Finder" file level.
As to MP4 (SD MPEG-4, Chapter 2) content, these files may or may not be compatible with QT depending on how the audio is encoded, the file container actually used, and/or how your system is actually configured with QT components. In most cases, making the content compatible may be as easy as doing nothing, to changing the file extension or copying the data to a real MOV file container to using MPEG Streamclip to convert/handle the audio content.
    2) Why does VLC show the file properties as MPEG-1/2?
Like QT, when VLC sees the wrapper file extension, it "assumes" the file contains a specific type (or range) of data types and reports accordingly. The main difference here, is that VLC can actually play the AVCHD data natively while QT cannot.
By the way the MPEG-2 description jived with a review - CNET, I think -  which I'd read online.  No doubt this will provoke another one of those explanations that always boil down to "you don't understand, the wrapper isn't telling you what's in the files"  responses.  Is there a tool for telling what the thing actually is?
Interpretations can sometimes be confusing. HDV content can also be described or reported as MPEG-1/2 content since it is sometimes described as DV100 encoded data wrapped in an MPEG-2 file container. As to what is actually in a file container and utilities to read them, there are a number of such available as free downloads. Unfortunately, many will have the same problem with MPEG/MPG containers if they bother to read them at all but do really well with other file containers. Since most of the content I deal with is MOV, MP4, and/or M4V, I tend to use the free VideSpec and/or Dumpster utilities. In my case I am more worried about MPEG-4 Profiles and Levels, entropy encoding modes, fourCC identifications, key frame frequency, key frame data rates, how the data is distributed between key frames, and the like when trouble shooting problems and most of my dealings with AVCHD are limited to the conversion of DVR/BD content to TV2 compatible content since I don't even own an AVCHD camcorder (and still prefer HDV for editing purposes).
The broader question remains - is QuickTime meant to be general purpose, at least as a player?
No, it isn't. As previously stated, QT technology is based on temporal synchronization of multiple parallel data tracks (up to 99) to a common reference clock and not spatial synchronization by interspersing of blocks of data within a single stream or the interleaving of data frames (which QT can handle because the data is only out of sync by one half-frame per n-1 tracks). This is great if you mask, layer, window, etc. content within a single player but severely limits QT compatibility with older and/or currently competing technologies. In short, pick your player/converter based on the technology used in the source file and not because you think QT should be an all purpose, one size fits all multimedia utility. If FLV Crunch meets your needs, then by all means use it.
I took some similar files I got from a recent model Canon to a video professional's (family) and they couldn't be read by a current version of FinalCut Pro.
Which model Canon? Which "current" version of FCP, the suite or the new FCP X release? Do you have a short snippet you can upload for examination? Have yet to research the pros and cons of the latest release but plan to do so next month if/when I have the time. (I.e., users seem to either really love it or really hate it.)
PC video straightforward, Mac a colossal hassle until you find the right 3rd party application: does that sound wrong to anybody else?
If you opt to use an import work flow that preserves the QT file incompatibilities instead of a work flow that ensures QT playback, conversion, and editing compatibilities, is it the fault of the software or the user?

  • Seeking MPEG2 Component for QT prior to 7.6

Hey all. I need an old version of the Quicktime MPEG2 Component that Apple provides on their website. I'm having a problem because I'm running OS version 10.5.5 with QT version 7.5.5. I can't upgrade because the version of Avid Media Composer I'm running only supports this version of Quicktime. Only problem is, I need to use MPEG Streamclip to convert some DVDs into QTs and I can't find an old version of the MPEG2 component. The version currently available on Apple's website supports QT 7.6 and up. Someone please help!

I assume you are referring to the component targeted for use with QT 6.4 thru QT v7.5... Believe another poster having the same problem contacted Apple which indicated they no longer provide access to archival copies of this package. As such, my recommendation would be to contact your local Apple User Group (MUG/AUG) to see if they maintain archives of out-of-day software/components which are no longer support by Apple or you can try searching larger, online MUGs/AUGs which may offer similar download archives as may be allowed by agreement with Apple.

  • MPEG2 component

Just installed the MPEG2 component to convert an MPG file to MOV. I started with a small mpg (MPEG1) to test, and after just a few seconds, it stops converting and gives an error (unknown error, so its hard to say whats wrong). I have read the FAQ about the component and it says there that transcoding is supported for video only, when the mpg file is multiplexed. Whats the point of having a video without sound???
Then I tried with the larger movie, which is MPEG2. Same problem when using the export function.
Saving the file with "Save as" and as .mov is working much better, also with MPEG2!
Anyone has the same problem? What with the other formats you can export to? Only video?

If you visit this site you will see that the developer has provided both Mac and PC versions of Streamclip. They should have the same features, although I have only used the Mac version to date:

  • MPEG2 Component for Intel performance

Hello there. I just purchased the MPEG2 component for QuickTime, Intel and am experiencing slow performance. I initially used this for opening files within MPEG Streamclip, but it was a very slow export. Then, I tried QuickTime and experienced the same slow performance. The hard disk starts swapping and it takes forever. Any ideas or do I need to wait for a new release?

Just a quick update on the MPEG2 component. I wasn't able to resolve the problem and had to resort to a G5 at the office. It worked fine. I wouldn't recommend purchasing until they get this figured out.

  • How can I update my app store account ?

Hi, I have a new Iphone and I wanted to add some applications from apple store.
Unfortunately, I had a message saying that I was using app store on a new device (true) and they needed to check some security thing from my visa card. Unfortunately, I had a new  card and do not have the previous one anylonger (the previous one expires in 1 year but had to be cancelled).

how can i update my table automatically at run time so tat, my table is
updated whenever a new object is entered into vector..You don't update the Vector directly. You should be creating a method in your TableModel, called "addRow(...)". This method will do two things:
    a) add the Student object to the Vector
    b) invoke the fireTableRowsInserted(..) method of AbstractTableModel. This will cause the table to be repainted.

  • HT1212 I am unable to get our of a continuous cycle when trying to update or restore my iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.

When I tried to update my iPad I got an error 9. Now, I am unable to access my iPad. It is in a continuous cycle when I try to update or restore the iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.
    Here's the cycle:
I plug in my iPad when “cable to iTunes shows on iPad screen. It says "Your iPad can't be updated, you must restore it to factory settings." That bad enough news, but it gets worse.
    Click Restore
    Extracting software…
    Preparing iPad for restore
    Waiting for iPad…
    Verifying iPad restore with Apple…
(empty bar under the Apple logo…does not show any activity)
“The iPad “iPad” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).”
Notes: I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) in the last week. It’s the first time I’m tried to backup/update my iPad since the iMac update.
I swapped out the USB cable to a new cable and get the same results.
I also unplugged all other USB devices from the iMac and security on my iPad and still get the same results.
I find it strange that it shows no Serial number for my my iPad 2 when plugged in. It shows “Serial Number: n/a on the screen when it displays: “iPad Recovery Mode To update your iPad without erasing its contents, click Update. To restore your iPad to its factory settings, click Restore iPad.
I prefer to update my iPad, but it displays “Your iPad can’t be updated, you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPad, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes.”
It’s a continuous loop. I get the display on my iPad to plug in the iPad to iTunes, plug it in which ends after going through the above procedure saying an error occurred (9).
So now I cannot use my iPad. When I turn it on I get the display showing me to plug it into iTunes with the cable. Since this is the only option I have I plug it in and the loop begins.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
