Can't update OS X - Not enough power

When I try to update OS X, an error message says that I do not have enough power, and that I should plug in my adapter and try again. This happens every time, even though the power is at 100% and the power cable is connected.. What can be the problem?
The update in question in which I am stuck with is the MacBook Air-firmware update for flash storage 1.1. I have Mountain Lion, and can't upgrade it to Mavericks before I have installed this update..

You could not possibly have gotten that error from the App Store if you downloaded the Mavericks Installer.
What at did you download? xCode?
The Mavericks Installer will run automatically once downloaded.
Here is where you should be downloading the Mavericks Installer: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-mavericks/id675248567?mt=12
The button won’t say “Download,” though.

  • Can't update iphone as not enough memeory on computer. Have tried to move itunes to an external hardrive and I thinm it has moved and clicked on the Itunes folder from the external but still says not enough memory..help

Our computer is REALLY low on memory...we will get a new one at some point but can't at the moment.
Upgraded to the new iphone 4s and bought an external hardrive so I could move my Itunes library to that, so I could update iphone/itunes (isn't enough memeory on PC to do this)
I read that I need to consolidate my itunes first but again when I tried to do this it said not enough computer memory.
Anyway I tried to move the itunes folder over to hardrive and then it looked like it had worked. Clicked on itunes via the external and it opened ituens up..brilliant I thought!Backed my old iphone up and then clicked update...then a m,essage came up saying not enough memeory on comouter to update.
Is this because i need to delete itunes off the computer?
Am worried in case it isn't on the hard drive correctly and will lose everything!

You would be better off to go through and uninstall programs you no longer need or use and move your data over to the external drive, at least temporarily. The iOS update file will be somewhere around 700MB. If your system has less than 20% free disk space, you're pushing the limits even without trying to download something that large and back up your phone so the update can process. If you're running less than 10% disk space you've entered dangerous waters no matter what you're doing.
This really isn't iPhone related and we can't advise you as to what data and applications you can move or delete. You will have to make that determination yourself or get a friend or family member to help.
If you do not have a current backup of your computer system, you need to make one. NOW!

  • External HD not mounting since update 10.9, not enough power

    Hi,
I have troubles with a Lacie Rikiki USB 3.0 external hard drive since I updated to OS X mavericks: when connected via USB, the disk starts to make noise, but the LED indicator stays off. I have tried several things, from formating the disk in all available formats to downgrading the Macbook pro (mid-2010, 13inches) to OS X Mountain Lion. The disk does not mount and does not appear in the disk utility soft. I have the same problem on a late 2009 iMac, on OS X and Bootcamp since the upgrade. Apparently the disk doesn't get enough current from the USB port, but I can't figure out why.
Thanks if you have any idea.

If that drive doesn't work on any Mac then it might be the drive has failed. you could also try a Y USB cable that connect to 2 USB ports at the same time to supply more power to it.
Mac notebooks have always had low power output on the USB ports. Mavericks might even lower that trying to save power.

If you have ios 5.1.1 the output power is 100ma, on the iOS 5.0.1 the power output is 500ma! This may be the cause?

  • Mini charges, but the mac still says not enough power

i just recently bought an "used" ipod mini from ebay. it seemed to have been working fine and charged normally. yet, when i hooked it up to my mac, a notice came up that there was not enough power and that i should charge it. it was fully charged. any suggestions?
    Mac OSX

The iPod battery indicator is only a very loose approximation of how much charge there actually is left.
    See these.

This "used" iPod may be in need of a new battery.

  • OPTIARC AD-7170A Not enough power to burn.

My DVD burner in my Mac Pro reads discs fine, but burning always fails. I get the message there is not enough power. I'm wondering if having more RAM will help this probelm? I only have 4gb. I'm still on 10.5.8 because i fear upgrading my system when everything is working so well with my applications (except burning obviously). Is it simply time to buy a new burner, if so my choices are limited, right?

    Hi-
Samsung is a popular drive, though I have no personal experience. I use the Pioneer DVR-116, and it is an excellent drive.
OWC is a Mac specialist, and only sells that which they deem acceptable for Macs.
I think you would be safe with the Samsung.
An optical drive isn't that hard to install.
    Instructions are Here.
You must, however, remove the plate that is on the tray of the optical drive, or it won't clear the slot in the tower.
That is one note that is not in the instructions.
As for the scanner, for 800 slides, a dedicated film scanner may not be the best choice.
Current flatbed scanners offer some nice features, and many are able to make good scans of slides and negatives.
Current Nikon slide scanners can run a couple thousand dollars, so one would want to have good use for a dedicated scanner.
A scan service may also be a more economical approach.

  • ITunes tells me I can't download movie. Not enough storage and u have enough

iTunes tells me I can't download movie. Not enough storage I have the space I think. It keeps sending me to settings help!

The GB size of the download file is the compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • My iPad and iPhone4s both state "NOT ENOUGH STORAGE" and can't backup due to not enough iCloud storage available in the cloud.  I have sync my phone but I still get the msg - I will sync the iPad as well - both devices receive my mail as well as Acer pc.?

My iPad and iPhone4s both state "NOT ENOUGH STORAGE" and can't backup due to not enough iCloud storage available in the cloud.
I have sync my phone to my pc using itunes, but I still get the msg on the phone - could it be that the ipad and phone both receive the same mail?  I did go into Settings - icloud - and shut off Mail on phone - I will sync the iPad as well - both devices receive my mail as well as Acer pc.?  thank you -

Not having enough storage in your iCloud account isn't caused by using your iCloud email account on your device.  It may be caused by having lots of email in your account though.
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage to see what is taking up the space in your account.

    Very frustrating.

No longer a problem. After leaving a while and trying again the iPad and iMac successfully synced.

  • When I plug in external hard drive to airport express it tells me not enough power for the usb port. I have the airport express plugged in to power

Airport express tells me not enough power to usb port for hard drive.
I do have power to Airport express plugged in.

The AirPort Express will not support a hard drive....only a printer.
If you need to connect a hard drive, you need an AirPort Extreme, not an AirPort Express.

  • Just bought 10gb and can't download games says not enough storage?

I can download anymore games says not enough storage.  Soo I purchased 10 GB for twenty dollars and I still cannot download the games. . Help!

Welcome to the Apple community Daisido.
You need to download them to your phone, you have purchased space in the cloud, you need to delete something if you want to make more space.

This might help ya out -> iPad: Using iPad Camera Connector with unsupported USB devices
If you encounter an issue trying to connect a digital camera through an unsupported USB device, try the following steps:
Disconnect the iPad Camera Connector from iPad.
Disconnect any USB device connected to the iPad Camera Connector.
    Restart iPad.
Reconnect the iPad Camera Connector and then connect your digital camera directly to the iPad Camera Connector.
You may need to connect certain cameras, USB Audio, or MIDI devices to a powered USB hub for the iPad Camera Connector to detect them. Find more information on using the iPad Camera Connection Kit.
Note: If you encounter an issue using a USB audio or MIDI device, contact the manufacturer to confirm that the device is compatible with the iPad Camera Connector.
What type of camera do you have connected to the adapter?

  • U3011t - Not enough power to USB ports

We are working with a U3011t and before this past Friday all the ports on the monitor worked.  After doing re-imaging the computer, I am now receiving an error message that states there is not enough power to supply the USB ports.  Any Ideas why this is?

The monitor USB hub is simply a receiver when the USB upstream cable is connected from the bottom of the monitor to a USB port on the computer.
The monitor USB hub should appear in the Device Manager. When I connected the U3011 USB upstream cable to my Alienware M18x-R1 blue USB 3.0 port, the Device Manager- Universal Serial Bus controllers added =
    Renesas Electronics USB 2.0 Hub
    Renesas Electronics USB 2.0 Hub
    USB Mass Storage Device
Reconnect the monitor USB upstream cable to the monitor port. Then, connect the other end of our monitor USB upstream cable to every computer USB port and re-test. Also, test the monitor on another computer. If available, test another USB upstream cable. The ones from any printer will work.

  • Not enough power (New Keyboard)

I'm not sure if this was also a 10.4 issue, but has anyone had any issues connecting say... an iPod or flash drive to the usb 2.0 port on the new Apple keyboards? When I do so, it says not enough power to power the device.

Unfortunately, I really want to use my flash drive there... But the ones i have apparently are high-power devices.
Does anyone know which usb flash drives work with the new alu keyboard? Indirectly the error message says that some flash drives will work in these usb-slots.
It's pretty useless to plug it in at the back of my Mini every time I use it.

  • Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter not enough power

Warning to those who own G-Technology G-Raid Mini (Gen3) and a Macbook Pro Retina.
I just received my thunderbolt to firewire 800 adapter from apple yesterday.  I hooked it up to the rMBP and plugged in my G-Raid Mini,  the G-Raid Mini powers up, but then proceeds to make a beeping noise.  The G-Raid Mini will not mount over bus-power thunderbolt to firewire 800 adapter.  Although when I plug the G-Raid Mini into wall with power supply and then plug in the thunderbolt to firewire 800 adapter, the drive mounts.
It seems there is not enough thunderbolt bus power to mount a G-Raid Mini (Gen3)...
Has anyone heard otherwise?  Can they confirm this doesn't work for them either.
    Thanks.

    Same for me.
Luckily I tested it is advance of playing a gig at the weekend using Serato.
    Complete JOKE!
I can't believe that Apple hasn't considered the fact that the majority of creative professionals need high capacity fast mobile storage.
I suppose we now need to wait for 2Tb Thunderboth enabled SSD drives which by my reckoning will cost more than the MacBook Pro!!!!
