Can't update OS X! Password problem?
I think it might be related to my user accounts?
I had two user accounts, one admin (let's call this Admin1) and one with restricted privileges. I then created a second admin account (Admin 2) which did not have a password and deleted the original admin account along with the other restricted account.
Now when I try to update OS X, it asks me for the password of my Admin1 account which did have a password. I enter it but it's rejected. But why would it be asking for one in the first place?
Anyway to get around this?
Recreate a new Admin account as the same name as the former Admin1 account, giving it the same password. In other words undo your fiddling and restore that account that the OS thinks should be there.
As for having a second admin a/c with no password, well that is perhaps getting Mac confused as it expects there to be a password in your Admin a/c, so do this and you will give it one.

Can not reset router.. password problems
We have a DSL connection at home and just decided to put our Linksys router back up. I have the BEFW11s4 verson4 and when I go to my ip address and set it up my longin screen pops up and messes me up. I have tried to reset it back to factory settings and when I do that and the screen pops back up I type admin for user and password and I get the red 401 screen. I also tried to change the password on the router and that still didnt work. Then I put the CD in and I got to the last part which is make a password for the router and I get an error screen that says, Rouuter must be reset, hold the reset button for ten seconds and then contact Linksys. Whats going on its driving me nuts.. thanks for your help
While the router is on, hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
I believe holding for 10 seconds simply places the router in Bridged mode. I'm not certain about that concerning Linksys, but other manufacturers have the 10 for bridged mode rule.

I can't update my apps. I touch the "Update All" button; it asks me for my Apple password but after I enter it nothing happens. I tried to update apps one by one but same problem continues. Help please
The app that does not want to update was it originally downlaoded with a different ID? If so use that ID and hte password you set for it to update the app

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.

Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

I deviated from the instructions by manually deleting all my contacts while in Mobile Me before trying the forced update because it hadn't worked in the past to force transfer the addresses. I thought starting with a clean slate might be a step ahead. Now that clean slate seems permanent.
The gutsy move was to make Mobile Me download the empty address book into my MacPro. My address book went empty until I restored it through the archive I'd saved. It proved the computer and Mobile Me are communicating since it wiped out my address book on my desktop. I restored everything by importing the archive back into the address book. Thankfully that part is fine.
What is not working is for me to get ANY addresses to move back to Mobile Me despite repeated attempts at changing the reset action through the advanced selection of Mobile Me in System Preferences. I've unselected syncing and restarted the computer. I've signed out of MM and signed back in. I've closed the browser and opened it fresh again. I've closed and opened Address Book on the computer. None of those actions make a whit of difference. Mobile Me contacts remains empty when I tell it to replace MM with the contents of my AB on my MacPro.
I see under the gear there is an ability to import vCards. Is there any way to do a batch import? I have almost 700 addresses separated into more than a dozen groups. It will be a mighty tedious process to import them one by one.
No, iCloud is not an option. My computer is one version too old to upgrade to Lion. -
I've tried many times to get rid of my old iTunes account. I have made a new Apple ID and I do remember the password. My 2 main problems are, i can't update ANY of my apps (and I have 53 to update now), and I can't get rid of my old old email that I forgot the password to. Every time I try to reset the account and start a new iTunes account, it will ask me for my new email. I've tried multiple times to change it, bbut every time i do, it asks me to put a password when for my old email that I forgot the password to reset the account.
Once you purchase or download an app it will always be associated with the Apple ID used to download it. When that app requires and update you must use the Apple ID and password used to download it in the first place. The only way around this is to delete the apps the require the old Apple ID and download or purchase them again with the new Apple ID.

my ipod tells me my apple id password is wrong even though I just changed the password. I can log on via my desktop, but the ipod continues to tell me that the password is incorrect, so I can't update any apps. when I continue to to try to enter the correct password in it finally freezes the account, and I have to go online via my desktop to fix that problem. I have two apple id's because when my ipod crashed I had to reset it completely. I have never had any problems with this before, and it has been a year since I got my second id, which is linked to the ipod. My first id is used for the cloud on the same device. My wife suggested I reset documentson the cloud for the second id, however, when I try to log on the cloud with my current id, it tells me I have to set up the cloud on that device, but it is already done, but with the old id.

I don't know of there is anyone than can fix this age old Apple problem. Does anyone know how to retrieve apps under an old Apple ID when the email used for that account no longer exists & I can't remember the password? After speaking with Apple Acct. Security, I got the security Q right but my birthday was wrong! They wanted the serial number from my phone that was 3 iPhones ago! Seriously??!!
Any updated way to work around this? No Apple people can correct it.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -
I need to get my Apple ID off of my old iPhone 5. I gifted my old iPhone 5 to my daughter as I got the new iPhone 6. I of course have no problems but my daughter can't update anything really without the store telling her to enter my password for my Apple Id. This is my third iPhone and I have never run across this problem before due to the fact my iPhone was never in great condition (#1) or I lost it and had to go retool at a retail store (#2). If there is any help for a poor guy like me let me know I'm racking my brains trying to tackle this one and it's not looking good for me. Thanks for trying to lend your expertise everyone.
Robert MayRight. To figure out which of the Updates is asking for your ID, do not click Update All. Click on each app, one at at time to Update (this would be under the Update option in the App Store - you will only see apps there with the Update next to them that actually have updates pending). If it asks for the password to your Apple ID, then that app should be deleted.
So, it is good that her ID is the one signed on to everything on the phone now. Once you delete the apps from the phone, then she will purchase new versions of those apps using the App Store on her device. When she does that, the app will be purchased with that ID (or if free, will be associated with that ID since it was the one that downloaded it).
If she is primarily concerned about her Line app and her photos but nothing else, then you can just press on one of the icons on each Home screens until they all wiggle, and then click on the little "x" in the upper left-hand corner of the icon to delete it. Core apps will not have an "x" since they cannot be deleted. So, just delete everything with an "x" except the Line app....

since I did the update to OS5 I can't update any apps on my iphone4 and also had to make a new account before it would do the update. now it won't let me sign in to my original itunes and tells me the password is wrong and I know it isn't.

Have you tried signing out of your iTunes & App Store on your device and then back in again - Settings>iTunes & App Store, click on Apple ID, then on Sign Out. Then sign in again and see if it accepts the password.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, try resetting your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the reset is complete, the Slide to Unlock screen will display. See if the problem is resolved.

MY I phone will not work....correctly...I can not update any of my old apps. it says my apple ID is disconnected, I have reset my password but it wont effect the whole phone or fix the problem...please help.
I have something similar going on, but not exact. I basically have a useless phone here because I restored the phone but supposedly when my son's father redid the phone years ago for our son he added the phone to HIS apple id (on find my phoen supposedly) which he no longer has nor uses. I need said apple id and pass to finish restoring the phone. Maybe we should all get together and pile all our bricks in front of apple headquarters so no one can get out of the building and they have to stay there until they fix this. :-P

Hi there, I have 4 calendars that I attempted to import into iCal on my new Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard) from my recovered disk (was running Tiger). 2 of the 4 imported successfully but the others elicit the following error: "iCal can't read this calen
