Can't update Photo '11

I downloaded the new update for iPhoto '11 for my iMac desktop couple of days ago.  Yesterday, I opened up my iPhoto to add some photos.  It keeps getting stuck "Upgrading: Step 5 of 9 (99% complete)".  So I had to use Force Quit in hopes of it fixing the problem.  I tried to change among my libraries to see if that makes a different.  It has not.  I am still getting "Upgrading: Step 5 of 9 (99% complete)".
WTH??????

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library

  • Can't Update Photo Stream

I have installed the iCloud Control Panel app for Win7 and I have an iPad2 with iOS5.01.
I am trying to sync pictures and on my PC's control panel app in the taskbar I have the message "Can't Update Photo Stream"
    Any ideas?
I have logged out and in , turned off the iCloud for Photos on my iPad and PC and still the same.
    Thanks
    Marc

Ditto for my wife's PC.  I uninstalled the iCloud control panel, rebooted, ran Apple's Software Update (which brings up the iCloud software for you to optionally download it), downloaded and reinstalled the iCloud control panel, and everything worked again.  I've had to do this twice so far.  It was working fine until Microsoft Software Update installed some patch on the 14th, and then it was no-go.

  • Can't update photos using iPhoto 6 - read/write permissions

    Help!
Before you think this is the standard "iPhoto 6 permissions problem", please read on.
Upon installing iPhoto 6 and attempting to update my iPhoto Library, I get the dreaded "There is a problem accessing...files in your iPhoto Library folder...Make sure you have read and write permissions for the folder...all enclosed items." This is the problem noted in:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303135
However, it doesn't tell me what file(s) have the problem, even though the app note says it would for OS 10.3.9. No matter. I simply first did a get info on the iPhoto Library folder verified that it was not locked and that I had read/write permissions. I also applied that to everything inside the folder. Ran iPhoto again...same error.
Although I didn't get the "repair permissions" error, I did that too. Ditto for the locked files issue reported at:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303232
After attempting the update at least a dozen times, I even tried the UNIX chmod command (774) on everything in the iPhoto Library folder just in case the "get info" method didn't take. Still get the same error when updating iPhoto 6. What gives!
I willing to try any suggestions ya'll might have!
FYI - I do have my older version of iPhoto available and I have a complete backup of my iPhoto Library.
    Thanks!

    Hi David,
It's up to you, unless someone else comes along with some more things to try.
I am assuming you still have a version 5 of the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder.
Rename it to iPhoto Library_old and drag it to the desktop.
Do a search in the library for Thumbs. this will find all the Thumb folders which you do not want to import into the new Library. Delete those Thumb folders.
Now you have to decide if you want to import both the Original and Modified versions of a photo, or just the Originals. The problem is, if you import both, they will no longer be linked but will show up as separate photos in the library.
Actually it is going to be a big pain unless you have just the photos backed up to reimport.
If you want, you can check out a page I made showing the manual way to import the photos (#3)

  • Help! Can't update photo library for iphoto 6.1

I just installed iLife. When I went to open iphoto it appeared to be updating my photo files. Then it stopped and a window popped open that said I needed to give read write permissions to all files. I made sure that all my photo files have read write permissions. Everytime I try to open iphoto it goes through the same procedure of trying to update the photo files and then gives me the same message about the permissions. Then it crashes.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jenny

    JenTob:
Try the following: download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. That will get any files that may have snuck by you. It's very effective.

  • Can iPhoto update photo with position?

I have been busily placing my photos with Places. Now I have discovered that JetPhoto can do the same and with the $25 pro version, update the photo file with the location data.
Does anyone know if iPhoto can or does do the same thing? I like the idea of the location being stored in the photo rather than in a separate iPhoto file.
If iPhoto can't do this, I might start over and use JetPhoto and then import my photos again into iPhoto and then let Places find and locate them.

Sure - when you export a photo (file menu ==> export) with the proper items checked the data is exported with the photo to one file - basically I see no difference in the locate function of Jetphoto and the locate function of Places -- if you have a GPS logger then JetPhoto says it will use the track file to match up to photos - iPhoto does not do this - most users so far have been using HoudahGeo - http://www.houdah.com/houdahGeo/ - for this

  • Why i can't update photos in the instagram?

    all about itunes?
    thanks!

I'm sorry but you're post doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Please try to explain exactly what you're trying to do, what is happening, what error messages, if any, you're getting. Without some information, it's difficult for people to know how to help.
    Best of luck.

  • I can't update IPhoto, it says "the product distribution file could not be verified it must be damaged or signed in" I bought it on iTunes and have 8,000 photos already. how can I update and correct this??

These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID.
These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the applications.
please help me to fix this problem
    Thanks
    Krishna.

You need to either delete and buy them, or get whoever holds that Apple ID to tell Apple to release them. On a Mac, deleting the applications won't affect their data, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • How can I get photo of callers to vshow full page since I just did the update it doesn't show but a thumbnail pic

How can I get photo of callers to vshow full page since I just did the update it doesn't show but a thumbnail pic

That is the design in iOS 7.1 and there isn't any way to change it. You can provide feedback to Apple if you want: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Can't see photos after update to 9.3.2

I'm using Lion 10.7.4 and recently updated to iPhoto 9.3.2.
Though I can see my photos in thumbnails they will not show up in the iPhoto window when double clicked.
Each event is (blank) black though it retains its title.
I've tried command-option while opening iPhoto and repairing permissions/rebuilding to no avail.
For some reason my users/home folder/Library folder is not showing up in the Finder so I can't dump the .plist files.
    Suggestions are much appreciated.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I'm trying to update iPhoto 7.1.5 to current versions so I can get my photos onto iCloud to access from my iPad.  I can't seem to find an upgrade route that will work?  Any suggestions?

I'm trying to update iPhoto 7.1.5 on my old iMac (running  10.9.5) to current versions so I can get my photos onto iCloud to access from my iPad.  I can't seem to find an upgrade route that will work?  Any suggestions?

For Mavericks you need to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1.
You cannot buy this version from the AppStore, since the current version is iPhoto 9.6, and that requires Yosemite. The easiest route for you would be to upgrade to Yosemite. Then you can simply buy the newest version of iPhoto from the App Store and can use iCloud Photo Library (iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ), once it has been release for the Mac as well early next year.
If you want to stick with Mavericks, you'll have limited iCloud features, only the Photo Streams  (iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ), but no iCloud Drive (iCloud Drive FAQ) and iCloud Photo Library.  And to upgrade iPhoto you need to buy an iPhoto '11 installer. It comes as part of iLife '11. You can try to buy a boxed version from Amazon or try to find it at eBay.  Once installed on Mavericks, download the iPhoto '11 updaters from the apple Support Downloads page.

Did you make a backup of your system before you replaced the operating system?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Could you please clarify what it is that is full, your iPad or your iCloud storage.

  • Hi, I'm a bit low on memory and I can't update the iOS. I need to move some photos off the iPad but I don't want to transfer them to a pc, I'd prefer to transfer them to iCloud and leave them there.  Is that possible?

Yes, you could, because in this case you would have something like a backup in the cloud. BTW, personally I also like Flickr. Flickr offers you 1 TB (1000 GB) of free storage and automatic upload for photos since iOS 7 (it is a very attractive offer, at least for me)

  • Photo sync error- can't update because the required file cannot be found

After setting preferences for updating photos, i get the error-
"can't update ipod because the required file cannot be found"

    This is driving me crazy!

      Windows XP

The same problem exists with the German Windows version of iTunes (7.1.1.5).
    The error message says nothing!
I wasted a lot of time checking the photo files but there was nothing wrong.
Then I monitored the hd-access to find out WHAT a file is missing: it seems to be about the cache files of the program that isn't orientated right about it's own files!!! It seems to be a big fat bug!!!
The hint here really helps but it also means that all compressed files will be deleted and compressed again. That takes hours of time and lots of GB temp-space on the drives.
I think Apple should deliver a bug-free version of iTunes as soon as possible. And Apple should talk to the customers for that they must not waste their time because of bugs in Apple software.
    Will Apple read this?
I can't find an email-adress to send it directly to apple.
