Can't update podcasts or sync them to iPhone

Hi all, Hope you can help.
I can no longer update and download new Podcasts to iTunes for Mac.
Error "There was a problem downloading "name of podcast". You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
The issue has just started.
I can download directly to my iPhone so can still get them, but this ***** a bit.
Search this forum and find find references to iPhoto issues and authorizing the iMac/iPhone with the account. But I don't think this is an issue here.
iPhone connects and syncs OK with everything else.
Thanks
Ali

Hey Ali,
I found information on a very similar error message in here:
Trouble adding music to iTunes library or importing audio CD
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1387
This is the relevant information that should apply to your situation:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
Example: If permissions are correct on your Music folder, but incorrect on the U2 folder inside your Music folder, you would be able to add other music to your iTunes library, but not that new U2 album.
Look here for help in correcting the permissions on folders:

  • I can't update podcasts after updating to 11.2

Widows 7 64bit. When I click the update button, things start normally for about 2 seconds then stalls. After about 3 minutes, I get a Windows message saying iTunes has stopped responding and closes iTunes. If I have task manager open while I try to update, it's obvious there's a memory leak. Memory usage gradually climbs up to about 3GB and then Windows intervenes. I've tried deleting SyncServices and even tried renaming the "Apple Computer" folder. The folder gets recreated but I still can't update podcasts. Ideas?

Any idea how to do this in Windows 8?  I can't find the "Repair" option in the Windows Control Panel
It should be Control Panel > Programs and Features > iTunes > Repair.

I cannot find my photos that I sync'ed from my iPhone4S to my PC.  More recent photos no longer appear in the Sync directory. What can I do to properly sync them?

Not sure what you mean by "sync" -- Apple uses the term "sync" for transferring photos from the computer to the phone and uses the term "import" for transferring them the direction you asked about.
For importing to the computer the following has directions (which for Windows 7 links to the Microsoft support site since the transfer is handled by Windows 7 the same as it would import from any camera:) Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC

That message means this the computer/iTunes library is not the one syncing computer/library for that iPod. You have two choices:
    - Do the syncing/updating on the syncing computer/library.
    - Make this computer/library the syncing computer/library

  • Can I update more than one iPad and iPhone from the same MacBook pro?

Can I update more than one iPad and iPhone to ios 5 from the same MacBook pro? Our family has one MacBook pro and several iphones and ipads.  No one wants to lose their iTunes music or contact list or calendars.

Yes, but you will want to think it through before you do it.
The computer will become the "master" device, holding the definitive collection of music, photos, contacts, etc., and each iPad or iPhone will get a copy of what's on the computer. So if  everyone has different collections of music or photos that you all want to keep separate from each other, you'll want to set up different accounts on the MacBook Pro. To do that, go into "System Preferences" and click "Users", then click the "+" to create a new account for each person who needs their own set of files.
That way you can each log in to your own MacBook account before you sync your iPhone or iPad, and everyone has their own copy of iTunes and their own iPhoto. If you happen to plug in an iPhone while logged into someone else's account, you just click "don't sync" (the 1st time only, it will remember after that). Sharing the same files becomes tricky, so this is only the best method if you want to keep things 100% separate.
On the other hand, if you all have your music and photos mishmashed together on the MacBook anyway or just don't care about keeping things separate, just go ahead and sync your iPhones and iPads without setting up new accounts. But in this case, you should create playlists and photo albums in iTunes and iPhoto. Then plug in an iPhone, click on it's icon in iTunes, and change the settings for Music, Photos, etc to only sync the playlists that you want on that device. Repeat for each one. They'll all remember their own settings, and continue to sync with their designated playlists or albums.
What you cannot do is use more than one computer with a single iPhone. That will wipe out the music and photos that were on it already, replacing them with the ones on the second computer.

  • I have on my windows PC Albums containing Pictures. I sync them to iPhone

I have on my windows PC Albums containing Pictures. I sync them to iPhone & iPad through iTunes. Whenever I add fresh Pictures to albums and sync them. First all are deleted and then synced fresh. Can I sync only added Pictures to albums only?

    1. You sync picture A, B, C, D
    2. You want to add picture E, F, G, H
    3. You must sync picture A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H so that A, B, C, and D will not be deleted.

Is there any option that i can selct not to delete any data.?
No. By design, the iPhone will sync or manually manage iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. If you switch computers, all iTunes content will first be erased from your phone, then replaced with the content from the new computer. So, if you want to preserve your iTunes content, you need to copy your entire iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer. This would also include any pictures synced to your phone as well as contacts, calendars, notes and other important data.

  • I can't update my apps on both my iPhone and ipad

I can't update my apps on both my iPhone and iiPad

Unless you can provide more details about the problem, here are a bunch of things that you can try. They may not apply to your situation, but we have no way of knowing what that is, because you didn't provide specifics.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

cant update apps on my mac or iphone4. asks for password for another account i had on a dell notebook. either i forgot the pass word or its not taking it  . i can download apps and music.  how can i update apps on my mac and iphone 4?

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

Can I Update ios7 In My Carrier Unlocked iPhone  ?

When iOS 7 is launched, you will be able to upgrade, as iOS 7 will be supported on iPhone 4 and newer. Open Settings > General > Software Update, and you will be able to install it when launched.
iOS updates are launched by Apple and they don't depend on the carrier or device like Android, so iOS 7 will probably be released for all devices at the same time. It will be launched in fall

  • My updated playlists wont sync on my iPhone, help!

my updated playlists wont sync on my iPhone. Nothing new will sync on my phone coming from itunes.

Hello, I was able to get the greyed out circles to stop by updating to the newest software for the phone and itunes. I'm sure you have already tried that though. However, I now have a new problem. Itunes shows certain albums on the phone in the window but they don't appear on the phone at all. They even play on iTunes from the phone. Were you able to find a solution to your problem? I'd really appreciate some help as this is getting old...

  • How can I select podcasts to sync

It looks like new iTunes software doesn't let me select (checkboxes) which podcasts I want to sync only let me sync new or all but not selected from all.
Did I miss some options or what?
    Thanks for any help.

There is a bug on the new version of itunes (itunes 12), which prevents you from selecting individual podcasts for syncing correctly to older ipods.  When you check one box another selects and then you can't uncheck it.
Syncing a whole series works but not individual episodes.  This bug did not exist on itunes 11.
There doesn't appear to be anything being done about it.
