Can't update songs!

Hi Guys,
I can update my iPod from my laptop, but just copied all my file to my desktop and it won't update at all. Says it cannot read or write to disk 'my name' iPod. It still works on laptop. How can I change it so that i can update from the other computer?

  • Can't update song information

After upgrading to iTunes 7.0, I'm starting to notice that I can't update the song information such as Name, Genre, Artwork, etc... My iTunes library resides on a afp volume mounted on an iMac. I've doubled checked the permissions and the logged in account has read/write/modify access to this volume. If I open the the selected song in finder for instance, I can rename the file. If I convert the file to mp3, iTunes is happy to make a copy and can write to the volume but the copy can't be edited either. Selecting "Convert ID3 tag...." on this song result in an error box "Could not convert ID3 tags for all of the selected song. The songs may be write-protected or of the wrong type.". Again, the file is not write protected. What's puzzeling is that not all files are affected. Some mp3's in the collection can be edited while some can't. Anyone experiencing this as well? Any clue?

  • Can't update song info in itunes

I keep my iTunes library on an external drive and recently had to replace the hard drive in my PC, at the same time I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.
Now I can't update any of the information on the songs which were already on the external drive. Any new songs are fine.
    Can soemone help?

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

  • Old Computer Crashed - Can't Update Songs To iPod On New One

My old computer crashed, I installed itunes on my new one and purchased some songs. Now I can't get the new songs to copy to my ipod. Itunes recognizes the ipod when I plug it in, and "updating ipod" flashes quickly but the songs don't copy. Also when I plug in the ipod the songs on it come up but I can't play them from itunes. Can anyone help me out?

First try resetting the ipod by holding the center and menu button for 6 to 10 sec.
If that doesn't work, go here and install the latest ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Once thats done goto start>all programs>ipod>ipod updater 06-28-2006 and restore the ipod. Restore will wipe the ipod clean of everything and then you use iTUnes to load it back up. More on restore can be read here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983

  • Can't update songs from itunes to ipod even after it shows ipod updated

Plz help,Itunes show the songs being transfered to ipod
but no new songs or playlists can be found in the ipod, this is happening since last 2 days

Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
    If does not work
If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC

  • Can't update song via iPhone/iPad

Not sure if iOS 8 broke this because I haven't updated my playlists in a while. But for some reason, when I try to add a song from my iPhone/iPad, to a playlist, it won't add at all. But if I do it from my Mac, it appears on my devices magically. Works with trying to delete a song off of a playlist. If I delete on a song from a playlist on my iPhone, for example, it will appear as if I removed the song on it, but it won't update on my iPad or my Mac. This has to be an iOS 8 issue because regardless if I am adding/removing a song via my Mac, it updates both my iPhone and iPad. Anyone else having this issue?

It's probably Apple. They're having a lot of traffic and problems with their services right now. Just try it again in a day or so.

  • Can't add songs to iPod Touch after updating to v2.0

I just updated my iPod Touch to v2.0 and now I cannot load any songs onto it. When I drag songs or playlists over the Touch in the iTunes Devices list they just bounce off. Everything else seems to be acting properly. Contacts, Photos, etc. sync/update just fine.
I had this problem before after updating to Leopard. I can't find the thread I used then. It walked you through a process of deleting some file in the User>>Library folder before reinstalling iTunes. Unfortunately I don't remember which file(s) need to be tossed.
Anybody know the sequence or have a link to the earlier thread?
    Thanks...
    John

    An update...
Having nothing left to lose, I trashed iTunes and reinstalled it. Now I can at least sync Playlists. I'm not sure why I can't drag songs onto the iPod touch.
Still waiting for help on that one...

  • Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto the shuffle. My laptop crashed whish had all my new music

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

If possible you need to upgrade OS X. However, what you can upgrade to is dependent on what your Mac hardware and configuration is which you have not provided in your profile.

After software update, I can see the songs on iPod nano in iTunes, but I cannot play/move the songs from iTunes.

Is the "software update" for iTunes 12?  Or something you did to the iPod?

  • My iPod Skips Songs+I Can't Update My iPod

I was playing my iPod and I tried to play a song, instead of playing that one it skipped over 2 or 3 songs and played a different one. After checking to see what all of the songs were that it was skipping, I found out that it was skipping all of the songs that I had bought from the iTunes Store. (It still played all of my songs from LimeWire though.) I tried to correct the problem by plugging my iPod into my computer. I opened iTunes and plugged in my iPod but, it wouldn't go to the screen that shows the iPod's status. I tried re-starting my computer but, it still didn't work. So not only am I left with this problem but, I also can't update and add new songs to my iPod. Can someone please help me?

  • Update 10-01-2006 not working?  Can't transfer songs to iPod.

From reading the forums, it looks as though I've made the mistake of downloading the update. When I connect my iPod nano, I just get the "Do not disconnect" message for ever, but iTunes never recognizes my iPod. The most it says is that I need to install the update, which I've already done. I'm using a PC, if that helps. I've tried the R's, that doesn't seem to work. The iPod itself still works, just can't transfer songs to it. Is this something with the iPod, or the software?
I saw that a similar question was asked a while ago, with many answers including a "suggestion" to start a new thread, so here I go. Any help is of course appreciated. Thanks.

    Further update.
When plugging in iPod into computer, iPod just continues to say "Do Not Disconnect". iTunes will not recognize it at all. Further, when trying to safely disconnect, keep getting message that the device is busy, so cannot safely disconnect other than shutting down computer.
iPod is still usable, but won't hold charge more than a couple of hours. What is going on?

  • I can't update my songs

I have had this big issue with my ipod for a while. About a month or so I guess it started. My sister downloaded a new itunes to my computer. I had to re-put all my songs in. So I update the iPod to get all my songs again and the new ones I added. Rather then update it gave me a warning saying it can't update it because it could not read the disk which was titled under my ipod's name.
then I tryed restoring it, it worked for a little bit then it said something caused it to be unable to restore and it gave me some number along with the error. The first time that month ago I experienced it, I figured I needed to put my iPod CD in to re install it or something. Then when I finally found it this friday, I attatched my iPod to charge. It also added the original songs I wanted to update into it. I assumed the problem was fixed but it's starting to do all that again.
Should I just put the CD in and re install everything or is this something thats wrong with the iPod? PLEASE Help! It's bad enough that the iPod is also having re-charging issues probably sue to the battery.

Well, now when you try to restore, what's the error message that you're getting?
