Can't update to 10.5.4 (can't create the folder "/private/temp/MacOSXUpd.."

I've been unable to perform the updates from 10.5.2 to 10.5.4. When it shows me the updates as checked boxes and I proceed, it just says once I restart that its unable to update. . "could not create the folder "private/temp/MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.4pky28Mtquf2". Without the upgrade I've been having trouble using .me, as my computer won't seem to sync with the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't know why Software Update can't create the file it needs, but you can download the update manually from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1054comboupdate.html
It is a big baby, so backup first... and don't do anything else whilst it is installing! (i.e. quit all other applications before running the installer -or if you want to be ultra cautious, do a safe boot after downloading, and then run it within a clean environment).

I have recently been having issues signing into my Apple ID and decided to go in and update my email and change my password.
Since changing my email and password I have been unable to update any of my apps. I receive this error message when trying to update, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
I have looked into other forums and communities for a solution to this issue but from what I have read iTunes/Apple has yet to figure out a solution.
I have also read that the cause of this issue can be linked to two things.
One, is if you have multiple accounts on one computer. I only have one iTunes account/ Apple ID on this computer. This is my personal laptop and no one else has ever loaded on another account.
The second cause is linked to the country to which the apps were downloaded in. My computer and Apple ID were both created in the US, however 9 months ago I moved to New Zealand on a one year work holiday visa. Since living in New Zealand for the past 9 months I have been buying and updating apps, it wasn't until today when I received this error message.
I would really like to find a solution to this problem, but at the very least I would like to know what exactly caused this issue so that others may hopefully steer clear.

I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

I have two more suggestions:
1. Reset your iPad - hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same and continue to hold them down until you see the Sliver Apple (ignore the red slider). You will not lose any data. I know this sounds like it might not do anything, but this afternoon I deleted and re-added my iCloud account on my iPad (experimenting so I could answer another question), and it really messed up my Photostream. Did the reset, and everything in the photostream reloaded successfully without any further problems. A reset can do wonders to help "clear your iPad's mind"....
2. Go into iTunes and update the Apps on your computer, then hook up your iPad and sync....

Rnmt have you removed and reinstalled the After Effects CC 2014? Available updates are automatically applied during the installation process. Same here. Just becoming a nightmare. Updated iTunes and now can't update apps it itself is showing as available updates. Count me in on the latest "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." bug.
Next I have to post about a new problem in iPhoto on a new thread.... it lost the "link" between some but not all photos I have in the library and what it itself posted to FaceBook a few hours ago...

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open App Store > Purchases, and see if iPhoto app is listed. If not, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 Apart from that, check that iPhoto is in Applications folder. If not, put it in this folder.
If nothing works, remove iPhoto, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto free of charge

I have the same thing. It looks like it's the store. What is happening is that instead of the store showing you only the updates for the account you are logged into, it shows you the updates for all of your accounts. So if you try & update an app that was purchased with another account, you get that message. This is a pain, as you have to go through the apps individually (update all just gives you an error) , and then log out & into the other account again to get the rest of the updates.

Apple can you update newstand so that i can move this app into a folder?

i want to move newstand into a folder. I already know that native apps for the iphone cannot be deleted. That is why I am asking this question. Can apple update this app so i can be able to move it into a folder. It shouldnt be that difficult.
