Can't update to 10.5 on Windows XP

Trying to update to iTunes on Windows XP and get this message:
C:\DOCUME~1\Doreen\LOCALS~1\Temp\iTunesSetup-3.exe could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.  Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.

Well, I found a solution and I am up and running on my new 4s...finally!  I had someone else download the update and send it via FTP it to a server that I was able to download from via FTP.
It was also suggested that I might be able to go to a different computer than my own and download the update to a flash drive then copy the update from the flash drive to my computer.  I really don't know what I am talking about, but it worked!  Good luck!

  • Can't update/remove itunes; problems on windows installer

    I've been trying to update my 10.6 iTunes because my IO6 devices only require 10.7 but windows installer has been giving me problems. I've got error messages such as;
"Error occured furing installation. Your system has not been modified"
"Windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if service installer is not correctly installed. Contact support personel."
"Windows installer could not be accessed. This can oocur if you are running windows in a safe mode or windows installer is not correctly installed."
I 've been searching solution online but still hasn't solve this.
I hope someone can help me with this.

Is this on a 64-bit system, steffi? If so, try the following user tip:

  • I can't update to iTunes 12 on Windows 7.

I am trying to updating iTunes to vs 12 on Windows 7 32 bit. I can't install....it goes clear thru the installation process, and then the error pops up with this message.  I am doing it manually
The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\nb.lproj. The installation cannot continue Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator
I have checked and I "am" logged in as administrator. There is no password. There is only one account on this computer. I can't click on the update and choose Run As Administrator......
    My current vs is 11.4
    Please help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Can't update or uninstall itunes on windows 8.1

    Hi,
I've been searching for a while but havent found a workable solution as yet. Basically if i try to update, uninstall or reinstall i get the message
"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. click ok to try again or enter the alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes64.msi'
i've tried running as administrator, extracting the files, browsing to the file location etc but nothing seems to work, the only suggestions i've found are to use ifixit which is incompatible with windows 8.1 so won't work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. click ok to try again or enter the alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes64.msi'
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How can I update my 6750M driver in windows 7 64-bit?

    Hey
I have no idea why apple doesn't update its bootcamp driver after all this time. I need to update my imac graphic drivers update in windows due to adobe flash player crashing my graphics driver whenever Im browsing a flash heavy website. ADM website doesn't allow me to download the drivers but I thought maybe one of you has found a direct link to the driver.
    Thanks

    Go here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_1_whql_download.html
Scroll down and click the link that says: Download AMD Catalyst Mobility 13.1 Win 8 | Win 7 | Vista (64-bit)
That will download the full driver directly from AMD.

  • Can't update itunes 10.7 on Windows Vista 32bit

I'm using itunes 10.5.3.3 and my new device says I need 10.6.3 or better.  When I go to Help/Check for updates and it asks me if I want to install the latest version of itunes.  When clicked it does nothing.  The same is when I go to the itunes website.  I click the download bottom and the next screen says thank you for downloading itunes, and no pop-up to promt download opens.  I've tried playing with pop-up settiungs and used different browers to download with the same results.  Are my computer security settings to high? I don't really want to uninstall itunes and and re-download unless I have to.

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

  • When plugging in an iPad in Apple Configurator, it is not being read under USB Connected so I can't update it.  Any ideas on how to get the system to read the iPad?

When plugging in an iPad in Apple Configurator, it is not being read under USB Connected so I can't update it.  The iPhoto window opens up and reads the photos on the iPad, so it is connecting to the computer.  Earlier today I wasn't having any problems.  I have shut down the iPad and the computer and started over, but that didn't help.  Any ideas on how to get the system to read the iPad so I can update the apps on it?

Hi, is the problem just to update your apps on your iPad? Here is what you should check. Is the iTunes on your computer updated to the latest version? Does your iPad needs to be updated? Do you have enough storage on your iPad to do the update? On your device is your iCloud back up checked?
Go to Settings - iCloud - Backup/Storage - see if its checked, and try unchecking it before connecting it to the computer.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

  • I can't update itunes apps on satellite internet

I have Dish Internet and about 1 month ago something changed and now I can't update any apps on my windows computer or iphone/ipad when on my home wifi.  I can update them over cellular and on any other wifi signal just not by Dish internet.  I have tried resetting everything with the router and contacted Dish and they have no specific ideas on this.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

If you created a new ID, you cannot update the apps that you bought with that ID by using the new ID. Apps are always tied to the ID that you used to buy them with. You will have to continue to use the old ID and password for those apps.
If you changed your ID - and there is a difference - go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and change it in there to the correct ID.

Ok, I found in the Net the drive 7uw706ww.zip, which is Version 6.1.4.2, while the updated version is 6.1.10.5 (7UW708WW).
I tried again the GPS, and it wasn't working.
Anyway, before downgrading, I tried to reinstall the new driver, downloading and installing the .exe instead going through System Update.
Result: now GPS is working (same place, same conditions, just 5 minutes later)!
Don't know where the difference is...

  • I get error 0x80073cf9 now and I need help to FIX Windows Store can't update any Apps & can't install any Apps now?

Hi I hope some one can tell me step by step how to fix windows 8.1, I can't update any of my Apps and can't install any new apps now and I get error code 0x80073cf9?  But my problem is different than most of the other FIXES I read about, because nothing
fixes my problem to be able to install new Apps and get app updates and stop getting that error code?
I keep getting same error code 0x80073cf9 after I try any of the FIXES I have read about and tried all  the fixes on  my Lenovo Z580 laptop, that came with windows 8 and updated to 8.1.  And ever since I bought this laptop I could
always install and update all my apps for the last year when I had Win 8 and Win 8.1 now.   This has been going on since April and May and its driving me crazy!    And from the May updates I did get all the updates and
I also installed the KB update  that said I need this KB to get all updates in the future.
But all the other people when they get this error code they could not even open and use any of their Apps already installed.  And they also get the error code when they try to update or get a new apps.
But I can click on any APP installed already and use all my Apps with no problems.     I have read so many how to fix this error code but nothing works! :-(      I have tried a lot of
the fixes on Microsoft forums that says do this and the fix will get rid of the error code but I keep getting the same error code after I try that  fixes.    And I have read a lot of other windows 8 an windows 8.1  web sites when
I search for how to fix this error code?   And tried all of the fixes that were different from the Microsoft forum fixes. But after I try those fixes I still can't install any apps or can't get my app updates?
Please to any person's who can help me by giving me  more that 1 fix, because I have tried so many fixes, If you know more that 1 fix tell me how to do your fix step by step so I can understand what you say to do to fix my windows store?
Thanks for any and all help?  And if I don't get any help in this section of the forum I will try to put this in a different area, if I don't get any help at this section of the forum I will try to ask this in another part of he forum ok?
I really need HELP with this so I can get my laptop working again to install new apps and get the updates to my apps?

Fixed the problem by going to settings/store and logging out with apple ID.  Then logged back in with password and updates, apps, and iTunes store seem to work ok now.

  • Can't update quicktime on windows xp. Try to install 7.7.3 and it says I have a newer version installed. I don't of course, I have 7.3.1. Have never been able to update it. Even uninstalling older version it still says a newer version is already installed

Can't update quicktime on windows xp. I have 7.3.1 and when I try to install 7.7.3 it says I have a newer version already installed??? Even uninstalling the older one, it still says the same thing. I haven't been able to update it since 2007.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

  • Can't Update CS4 on New Laptop Running Windows 7 64bit

I just upgraded a 2 year old slow laptop running 32 bit Vista to a brand new Asus G73JW laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. It is a really fast laptop with 8G RAM, 1.5GB dedicated graphics card, full 1920 x 1080 HD res, solid state drive for operating drive etc. It is a beast of a laptop that boots up fully in about 10 seconds and it was built for HD gamers. Needless to say I am pretty excited to get to work on my favourite Adobe software, which is Premiere Pro and Photoshop mostly.
Everything on the laptop works great but... I installed my CS4 Production Premium without a problem, however, the Adobe Updater will not work. I tried it about 10 times now, rebooting, trying various programs to try the updates etc, to no avail. They are very important updates, as the software will not function properly in several programs without the updates. I can't find anything about this specific issue, has anyone had this problem with Windows 7 64 bit?
FYI everything worked fine with the Vista 32 bit, including updates.
I am pretty frustrated now and I just want to start using the software, and I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.
I already have an e-mail in to Asus to find out if the latest NVidia GTX 460M graphics card driver can be updated on my system. There are a few other drivers I am looking into updating as well to see if that will help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Aaron

All Adobe updates start here and select product, install in number order, updates may not be cumulative http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
As to your overall problem, Win7 has a lot of automatic security settings that you may need to fix
I don't know what those may be, but some general information...
