Can't update to 3.1.1 as it starts the Backup-functions which never stops
Whenever I connect my iPod Touch to iTunes and want to syncronize, the backup-function starts and never ends. I had it going twice all night long and in the morning I just have to close the iTunes via Task Manager. Therefore, when I try to upgrade to 3.1.1, the backup-function comes first and I can't even close it, as it is a separate window. To close, I have to do it with the Task Manager.
Has anybody an idea how to fix this backup-function problem? Thanks

I have recently been having issues signing into my Apple ID and decided to go in and update my email and change my password.
Since changing my email and password I have been unable to update any of my apps. I receive this error message when trying to update, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
I have looked into other forums and communities for a solution to this issue but from what I have read iTunes/Apple has yet to figure out a solution.
I have also read that the cause of this issue can be linked to two things.
One, is if you have multiple accounts on one computer. I only have one iTunes account/ Apple ID on this computer. This is my personal laptop and no one else has ever loaded on another account.
The second cause is linked to the country to which the apps were downloaded in. My computer and Apple ID were both created in the US, however 9 months ago I moved to New Zealand on a one year work holiday visa. Since living in New Zealand for the past 9 months I have been buying and updating apps, it wasn't until today when I received this error message.
I would really like to find a solution to this problem, but at the very least I would like to know what exactly caused this issue so that others may hopefully steer clear.

Cheers.I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update. -

Thanks,Rnmt have you removed and reinstalled the After Effects CC 2014? Available updates are automatically applied during the installation process. Installed 11.0.3 today. Tried to update apps. iTunes response was, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." I REALLY don't understand. I paid for MANY applications and stole or borrowed NOTHING.

any soultions???Same here. Just becoming a nightmare. Updated iTunes and now can't update apps it itself is showing as available updates. Count me in on the latest "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." bug.
Next I have to post about a new problem in iPhoto on a new thread.... it lost the "link" between some but not all photos I have in the library and what it itself posted to FaceBook a few hours ago...

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ... -

I am working on a Win 7 Machine and I have disabled all Firewall and Antivirus Tasks as this caused problems on an other update.Well - I synced before - that was successful - but I am a bit scared to ignore this error and just to continue? You think I should ignore that?

Open App Store > Purchases, and see if iPhoto app is listed. If not, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 Apart from that, check that iPhoto is in Applications folder. If not, put it in this folder.
If nothing works, remove iPhoto, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto free of charge -
My kids did something to itunes and now I'm getting the error.

Does anyone have any ideas for me?I have the same thing. It looks like it's the store. What is happening is that instead of the store showing you only the updates for the account you are logged into, it shows you the updates for all of your accounts. So if you try & update an app that was purchased with another account, you get that message. This is a pain, as you have to go through the apps individually (update all just gives you an error) , and then log out & into the other account again to get the rest of the updates.

I have an iPad (original). I cannot complete the update to iOS 5. It gets to the "backup" stage and then finds an error (-402653081). It asks if I want to continue, with a warning that "continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPad." What can I do?
Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.

When I start to update, the circle indicating download never stops. It's still circling the next day. How do I fix this so that I can update my apps?
Try deleting the app by tapping and holding until it wiggles, then tapping the X. Then try re-downloading it.

Won't open files with default application
When I try to open a file it opens preview instead of the default application and does not actually open the file! I have tried changing the default application but it does not help. How can I fix this?
