Can't update to ITunes 11 with windows 8. Pop-up box says, "your system has not been modified" How do I modify it??
Can someone please help me? How do I modify my system so I can upgrade to iTunes 11?
The installation stops before iTunes could be configured.
It tells me to run the installer again but I get the same message that my system has not been modified.
I am using Windows 8 64bit on a laptop.

I am having a similar problem, except I'm running Vista 32 bit. I haven't had issues with any other software but iTunes is giving me no end of trouble. The problem started when I tried updating to the .4 version of iTunes when it first came out. I could still use the program and transfer data from iTunes to my iPhone so I didn't worry too much about it. Recently though I wanted to upgrade my iPhone software but received a message saying I need to upgrade my iTunes before I can upgrade my iPhone. After a few tries iTunes won't even RECOGNIZE my iPhone. I keep getting an error that the mobile device recognition isn't working.
I tried uninstalling iTunes and installing the new download directly from the iTunes website. I used Chrome, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer with the same results. I think my computer may be corrupted and I need to wipe the harddrive. I really don't want to get to that point but if someone smarter then me doesn't have answer soon I think that is my only option. -

I have tried unistalling the current version I had which was 10.6.3, defragging and running a security scan. Now, the highest version I can get is 10.4.1. for some reason I cannot dowload itunes 10.5 or higher as it gives me the same message which is what I need to connect and update my iphone. It's also possible that newer iPhone updates want an OS higher than Tiger. Post the specs of your computer and we can see if an OS upgrade is possible. There are a large number of G4 variants with different capabilities, so giving us something more than just "G4" will get you help faster. -

I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.

My iTunes installer was interrupted & now it's telling me "Your system has not been modified. To complete these operations at a later time, please run the installer again". The only problem is, I've tried to run it about six or seven times.
I'm not sure anyone here knows more about the Java plugin than you do...
Were you starting the control panel from disk as administrator because it didn't work starting it through the Start menu (if you have Control Panel set to View by Category, the Java control panel is under "Programs"). -

Hello, this is my first time asking for support so I hope I provide all the information needed.
Background:
A while back my elder sister went into my computer and messed some settings up because iTunes was being wonky and not updating her new iPhone properly (turns out later the iPhone itself was having issues - not my computer nor iTunes). I used an older version of iTunes because I had an older iTouch and didn't need the newest version, but I didn't have any complaints when she updated it. I come back one day and iTunes isn't working alltogether, and when I plug in my iTouch it tells me there's an error and I need to re-install iTunes (or somewhere along that line, I was stupid and didn't screencap the message). (I asked her what she had done and said "Updated your computer! It hadn't been updated in so long, and then iTunes stopped working! Beats me!" and she can't tell me exactly WHAT she changed and downloaded.) So, I went through the uninstall process and went to the Apple website to download it again, but it kept giving me a "Your system has not been modified" error. This was a long time ago but I came back to my computer to try and solve it again and I've tried to redownload it off the website multiple times but it gives me the same error.
I went into my control panel and "add/remove progreams" to see if anything was left over from the uninstall process but I can't find any iTunes files. Any idea on how to get iTunes back onto my computer?

I am trying to install iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop and get this error:
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified"
Arghhhhh!! I've tried different browsers and various other things suggested on other posts to no availOk people, I think I have found the solution !
If you click on the start button from your desktop screen.
Then in the "search programs and files" field type : apple software update - you can find the apple installer.
Click on the apple software update line and let the machine run it's course. I recommend updating whatever it wants to , ie: safari 5, quicktime, itunes....
I then restarted my computer and it seems to be working now !

After installing the lates version of itunes on my Sony Vio, a bubble pops up which says:
iTunes installation complete, ERROR occured during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation process, run the installation again.

Ok, so have tried again and again over days to install itunes again but keep getting same message, when reading through apple support I deleted and uninstalled old itunes, quicktime, bonjour, apple support etc folders from system but still no change. I have no idea what to do next?

I deleted files in program x86 directory, common files. reboot reinstalled failed. any suggestions?
Using 2 ipad airs need at least 11.1 cannot install new itunes but I can insta ll old versions but that will not work with new ipads..
