Can't update to Mountain Lion 10.8.4

Running 10.8.3 and trying to upgrade to 10.8.4, but upgrade process does not return any message of failure, and doesn't upgrade to 10.8.4.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Sometimes, the App Store version doesn't work correctly. If you can't install OS X 10.8.4 from the Mac App Store, install 10.8.4 with the Combo installer > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659

  • Can i update to mountain lion for free

can i update to mountain lion for free? when can i update it? Very hopeful to have a experiment.

Given that you already have a Mac and the new cat is not likely to come out in awhile yet, the answer will be NO. Only cases I've seen Apple give the OS for free as an upgrade is when you buy a new Mac a week or so before the official cat unleashing. Or if you buy a new Mac after the new cat is out and you get inadvertently given one with the previous release.

  • Can i update osx mountain lion to old macbook pro 2.6ghz

Hi, is it possible to update my old macbook pro 2.6GHZ Core 2 Duo/2GB/256MB to mountain lion? I don't know the build/model date? Serial no.W8******02D.
    <Edited By Host>

Probably - this is what I 'found' in MacTracker:
...and that's what that Apple Serial Number website pulled up for that serial number. We'll have to wait for the OP to clarify!

edit: but MacTracker also says that model can use OS X Mountain Lion... so regardless of model, the answer to the OP should be "yes."

  • Help!if i don`t update the lion ,is to say i can`t update the mountain lion?right?

Now, I don`t update the Lion ,but I want to update the Mountain Lion .Is to say I must first to update my mac to Lion, then I can update to Mountain Lion?right??//   please give me a help thanks!

No App Store, no spaces, no Time Machine, etc. etc.
As I said, no technolgical advance, no compelling reason to use it. Time Machine is not at all what Apple once promoted it as, since they dropped it in Lion.
And as far as Lion goes, a few that could not adjust their habits to a few interface changes went back to SL, which is still two OSs ahead of you.
This has nothing to do with people not being able to adjust their habits; it has everything to do with productivity, loss of features, and introduction of a new, confusing set of behaviors.
I don't know where you get your numbers from, I would like to see you back up your claim of 'so many people' as 6 million copies were downloaded in the first week alone
I didn't cite any numbers, so wondering where I got them is pointless. Reciting a claim that over 6 million copies of Lion were downloaded in the first week proves nothing.
Judging by the number of people on the forums who are not at all happy with Lion and asking how to downgrade is evidence of user dissatisfaction. Most people who are dissatisfied will not say anything at all, resigning themselves to being required to use it, thus making them unhappy customers and less likely to purchase another Mac or any other Apple device in the future.
Yet you seem to claim that 10.4.11 is where people should stop?
I didn't say or imply anything of the sort. I said that there's no good reason to upgrade just because it's shiny and new. Mac OS X has become bloated with "features" that have little or no practical value, and are seldom used, while at the same time breaking long-established features for no good reason, and having no replacement in place. At the same time, features that worked perfectly well in 10.4.11 and before were deliberately removed from later versions, without prior notice and never restored, along with bugs being introduced that also have never been fixed.
That's not my definition of progress, and I'd wager millions of others share that viewpoint.

  • I can't update my Mountain Lion!

I have Mountain Lion.... When I press "restart". He trying start update. Gone same time and he writing "No one from selected can"t be install" When restarting. What the problem I have?

Purchase OS X "Snow Leopard" from Apple:
    Online (US): http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Upgrade your MacBook to Snow Leopard, then update iTunes to the latest version, and you'll be all set.

  • Can I update to Mountain Lion on my 2007 imac?

I currently have Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  I got my imac in December 2007 from an Apple Store, but I can't seem to find anything that specifically says it is 'an early 2007' or 'late 2007' model. How do I know this? I have read that the 2007 model must be a late model. I also  have 4 GB of memory, and it is an Intel core 2 duo. What I fit other qualifications after the answer to the 2007 model question is answered?
Also, can I go straight from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion?

    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    At least 2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space on hard drive
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Open System Profiler in Utilities folder. Note the Model Identifier in the display on the right.
    Check out
Macs that will support OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
As usual, the newer the Mac the better:
MacBook Pro – 13″ from mid 2009 or later, 15″ from late 2007 and newer, 17″ from late 2007 and newer
MacBook Air – late 2008 and newer
iMac – models from mid 2007 and newer
    MacBook – 13″ aluminum from 2008, 13″ from 2009 and newer
Mac Mini – early 2009 and newer
Mac Pro – early 2008 models and newer
XServe – early 2009 models and newer
Macs that are NOT expected to support OS X Mountain Lion
Older Macs and those with weaker GPU’s will likely be left behind:
Anything with an Intel GMA 950 or x3100 integrated graphics card
Anything with an ATI Radeon X1600
MacBook models released prior to 2008
Mac Mini released prior to 2007
iMac models released prior to 2007
    Original MacBook Air
Your model must have a 64-bit EFI boot ROM. See OS X v10.6- Macs that use the 64-bit kernel
An easy way to tell if you are running a K64 kernel is to use the uname command-line program. The "x86_64" in the excerpt below means that we are running a 64-bit kernel. If the output showed "i386" instead, that would mean a 32-bit kernel.
    $ uname -a Darwin... root:xnu-1456.1.25~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64
If your computer does not boot into the 64-bit kernel automatically you can force it to by restarting and holding down the "6" and "4" keys after the chime. Re-run the above command in Terminal. If you don't see "x86_64" then your model does not have a 64-bit EFI boot ROM and cannot boot Mountain Lion.

  • I updated to Mountain Lion. I noticed 2 problems I would like to resolve. I can no longer get iCloud or Security

Since updating to Mountain Lion I cannot LOAD iCloud or Security & Privacy. It just says ..."Loadind iCloud or Security & Privacy". Then I have to kill the process in Activity Monitor since it taks 99%+ of cpu. How can I get iCloud and Security & Privacy to load?

I tried the part about logon as ROOT and rename the Preferences file and logon as normal but that did not correct my problem.

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)
