Can't update USBPORT.SYS

I keep getting hit on by my security department scans because a handful of Windows 2008 R2 VMs have an old version of usbport.sys. I have applied the required patches but the file doesn't update. There no errors being generated in the event logs.
One article suggest applying KB2533552 before KB22862330 first but it is already installed. Another suggest disabling all USBEHCI controllers but there are none to disable when I look in device manager, possibly because it is a VM. I could really use
some ideas. The server is functioning fine but the security department won't be happy until I can update this file to the newest version.

To leverage off of Jason's point... it's highly unlikely you even have USB "hardware-emulation" support for these VMs, so the simpler solution may simply be to delete the offensive file and be done with it. :-)
While updating the file is always a solution... not having to update a file that has no purpose is an even better one.

  • Waas error message - WAAS-SYS-4-900000: time.c: can't update CMOS

    This was moved from another board,
    I this error on our syslog server from our WAE-7371 (running older code, but that is in the works to upgrade shortly,4.1.3b) , and I have checked the clocks on the inline devices and the CM and all are set insync.  Any other ideas?
    kernel: %WAAS-SYS-4-900000: time.c: can't update CMOS

    Hi Cora,
    With the NTP source being the same on on all devices and the clock in sync among them, the battery problem was confirmed in the bmc.log as the last entries indicated the power off/down with timestamp 01/02/1970.
    The resolution is to RMA the appliance.

  • Can't update my apps

    Hi,
    I can't update my apps.
    In the Updates tab, it always shows that all my apps are up to date...
    http://i.imgur.com/4xz07.jpg
    But in the Purchased tab, that is not the case...
    http://i.imgur.com/g90ln.jpg
    Plus, I know there are updates available because I have received emails from the developers telling me so.
    Clicking "update" on any given app in the Purchased tab induces an alert saying that I need to sign in to the account the apps were purchased in but offers no way to sign in. I already am signed into that account (that's how I can see apps in the purchased tab).
    I have tried signing out and back in, throwing out the macappstore preferences and signing back in, throwing away the whole app and preferences and recovering the app from a very old Time Machine Backup and signing back in. Nothing changes the situation.
    Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    This appears to be a common error with MacBooks Air. If you Google search on the wording of the error code you will find posts in forums all over the Internet, and everyone that I have seen is a MacBook Air. And they also seem to have in common that a number of them had been recently worked on by Apple Geniuses at Apple Stores.
    The most useful info in resolving the issue is that the image Apple Geniuses are using to format MBA HDDs has a bad .plist file.
    To resolve the issue for most folks;
    1. Go to Sys Prefs/Network and note your Network configuration. Then remove all network adapters.
    2. Trash the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
    3. Restart
    4. Go to SYs Prefs/Network and restore the network adapters and configure your Network settings again.
    The Mac App Store should now work properly.

    I send the modules back to the shop on RMA before I read the above suggestions. Hope you do not mind guys!
    My opinion at the moment is that I have done a whole lot to make these modules work, more than you can expect from a customer. As far as this goes, I believe the modules should be able to run at standard settings (timings, voltage, etc) on any motherboard. I am not interested where the responsibility lies for the manufacturers of either hardware, but the whole thing seems to be lacking standardization (if at all possible with this kind of hardware). Maybe I am to narrow minded in this, but that’s the reason I send them back. Apart from being a hardware and computer enthusiast, I am also still a customer with certain expectations.
    It looks like the shop agreed because, after receiving the modules via the RMA procedure they replied (translated from dutch):
    Quote
    Dear xxxx
    We have tested your returned product(s). The results from our test indicate that the product is indeed faulty.
    We will contact you as soon as possible to discuss further steps.
    Since the receipt notification (of receiving the package I send) and the notification above were only 1 minute apart, I have reason to believe that they did not test the modules at all (or did not care what the result is).
    I do wish to express my gratitude for your help, without your help I could not have come this far! Thanks!
    @utgamer2004: I hope your RMA will be granted as well, my experience may be positive but this will depend on the shop or the manufacturer.

  • How can I update my app store account ?

    Hi, I have a new Iphone and I wanted to add some applications from apple store.
    Unfortunately, I had a message saying that I was using app store on a new device (true) and they needed to check some security thing from my visa card. Unfortunately, I had a new  card and do not have the previous one anylonger (the previous one expires in 1 year but had to be cancelled).
    Therefore I am blocked and cannot get into my account.
    How can I update my bank account and get into the apple store again ?
    Thanks
    Nadiege

    Great, it worked. i could update the account from the laptop (but not from the phone).
    Many thanks for such a swift feedback !!

    In the future Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
    how can i update my table automatically at run time so tat, my table is
    updated whenever a new object is entered into vector..You don't update the Vector directly. You should be creating a method in your TableModel, called "addRow(...)". This method will do two things:
    a) add the Student object to the Vector
    b) invoke the fireTableRowsInserted(..) method of AbstractTableModel. This will cause the table to be repainted.

  • HT1212 I am unable to get our of a continuous cycle when trying to update or restore my iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.

    When I tried to update my iPad I got an error 9. Now, I am unable to access my iPad. It is in a continuous cycle when I try to update or restore the iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.
    Here's the cycle:
    I plug in my iPad when “cable to iTunes shows on iPad screen. It says "Your iPad can't be updated, you must restore it to factory settings." That bad enough news, but it gets worse.
    Click Restore
    Extracting software…
    Preparing iPad for restore
    Waiting for iPad…
    Verifying iPad restore with Apple…
    (empty bar under the Apple logo…does not show any activity)
    “The iPad “iPad” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).”
    Notes: I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) in the last week. It’s the first time I’m tried to backup/update my iPad since the iMac update.
    I swapped out the USB cable to a new cable and get the same results.
    I also unplugged all other USB devices from the iMac and security on my iPad and still get the same results.
    I find it strange that it shows no Serial number for my my iPad 2 when plugged in. It shows “Serial Number: n/a on the screen when it displays: “iPad Recovery Mode To update your iPad without erasing its contents, click Update. To restore your iPad to its factory settings, click Restore iPad.
    I prefer to update my iPad, but it displays “Your iPad can’t be updated, you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPad, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes.”
    It’s a continuous loop. I get the display on my iPad to plug in the iPad to iTunes, plug it in which ends after going through the above procedure saying an error occurred (9).
    So now I cannot use my iPad. When I turn it on I get the display showing me to plug it into iTunes with the cable. Since this is the only option I have I plug it in and the loop begins.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello jaybearden,
    Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

    Couple of pointers.
    1 - use [ code ] tags to post code
    2 - that is WAY too much code for more than a cursory glance. You're lucky the problem was easy to spot.
    Your problem lies in your edit JSP form:
    <td>Product Name:</td>
    <td><input name="description" type="text" value="<jsp:getProperty name="inventoryBean" property="item" />"></td>Note that the name of the input field is different from the jsp property you are populating it with.
    In fact, all of your input fields have a name of "description"
    I would recommend on your inventory_admin.jsp page that you put the following debugging code to make sure that the parameter values come through and are set correctly.
      out.println("name = param: " + request.getParameter("name") + "bean = " + inventoryBean.getName() + "<BR>");
      out.println("description = param:" + request.getParameter("description") + "bean = " + inventoryBean.getDescription() + "<BR>");

  • Can not update tab if its not the default sub-tab.

    Can not update tab if its not the default sub-tab.
    JDeveloper Version 10.1.2.1.0 (Build 1913)
    Hi. I have a problem with a “lovOpenWindowAction”
    The UIX is created with a master UIX and have several sub-tab that is included as UIX-pages.
    The lovOpenWindowAction lies in the included UIX-page
    The sub-tab I have a problem with has a table with users. Then I have a “Create New” button than I want to click on and select a new user that should be included in the table in the sub-tab.
    When I click on the button I open a LOV-window. Here I select the user that I want to add.
    In the LOV Action-class I save my new value in the database. Then in the method “onLovUpdate” I update the iterator with the new values from the database.
    But in my GUI the subtab is not updated until I click on it.
    But if I make the subtab the default subtab then it all works just fine and the GUI is updated directly.
    Here is the code for the tableAction in the subtab. This code lies in an included UIX-page. Target is the table id.
    <tableActions>
    <button text="Create New" id=" createNewRollperson" accessKey="N">
    <primaryClientAction>
    <lovOpenWindowAction destination="FiskeRollpersonerLOV.do"
    source=" createNewRollperson "
    targets="joinedRollpersfiskeer message"/>
    </primaryClientAction>
    </button>
    </tableActions>
    Here is some code from the master UIX-page
    <subTabLayout id="flikar">
    <subTabs>
    <subTabBar selectedIndex="${ui:defaulting(param.index,0)}">
    <contents>

    </firePartialAction>
    </primaryClientAction>
    </link>
    </contents>
    </subTabBar>
    </subTabs>
    <contents>
    <switcher childName="${param.source}"
    defaultCase=”ResorFlik">
    <case name="resorFlik">

    <include node="${ctrl:parsePage(uix, 'includes/FiskeRollpersonerFlik')}"/>
    </case>
    </switcher>

    </subTabLayout>
    What am I missing?? I can’t have this subtab as the default subtab! Please help me with a solution!

    hi,
    Change the condition type to manual entry.
    or
    for example delivery costs will be different at the time of PO and actual delivery costs then at the time of invoice we select planned delivery costs and settle them first with the actual delivery cost.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran

  • How can I update my Mail program in 10.6.8 to iCloud Mail?

    I am running 10.6.8 on my iMac, which is my work "workhorse." I can't update it to Lion because I can't afford to update Quark/Photoshop et al that I'd need. And it works fine.
    I also have a Macbook Air running the latest Lion, as well as an iPod 5 running IOS7. Both access my iCloud mail address and folders/filtering set up on iCloud.
    However, the Mail program on my iMac is still showing my MobileMe mailbox (and MobileMe is in my system preferences). I had an elaborate filtering-to-folders set up in Mail for my MobileMe account (not in the online MobileMe). I've disabled all the filtering in my Mail program, but iCloud still sends some mail to the older folders I had set up in the program, overriding the new folder-filtering I have set up on iCloud.
    So, sometimes I'll get an email sent to my .me email address from a client which I cannot see on my Macbook Air (or iPod) because it's sent to a folder on my iMac. I'm semi-retired so don't do much work anymore so I'd rather not "fire up" the iMac unless I've work to do. But as it is with the Mail situation, I have to leave it on all the time or I can miss client email.
    My question is, can I get delete my "mobileme" account in my iMac Mail program and then add my iCloud account to it? I assume the MobileMe in the iMac's system preferences is there for good, because I can't update to Lion. Will that fix my problem, or is that even do-able?
    I'm not sure I've stated this clearly. I'm trying to get total coordination between my iMac, MB Air, and iPod mail accounts in the Mail programs of each device without having to resort to using iCloud mail online on my iMac. Perhaps that's unavoidable?
    Any help appreciated. If clarification needed, I'll try to explain this better... Thanks all!
    Nicol K

    You can perfectly well access email in 10.6.8 - I'm doing it myself - and if you are receiving @me.com mail you are already doing so. the @icloud.com version of the address is exactly the same thing, and messages to it will arrive in the inbox alongside those to @me.com.
    However if you have set up Rules to act on incoming @me.com mail it obviously won't act on @icloud.com messages, so you will have to duplicate the Rules if you want to keep them.
    If you want to try starting over you can delete the account and set it up again, using the method described here:
    Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
    You can't access other iCloud facilities in Snow Leopard but if all you are interested in is the email you have no need to upgrade to Mountain Lion.

    You need at least Acrobat 9 to be eligible for upgrades, so it's a moot point. Simply buy a new license of a current version.
