Can't upgrade 2012 standard to 2012 R2

I have 2 production 2012 standard servers I need to upgrade to Server 2012 R2.
When I try to complete an in-place upgrade I get an error that tells me an unexpected error occurred please restart the application. error 0x0.
I've installed all updates and disabled antivirus software and still can't seem to get the upgrade to work.
The current version is licensed and I have the new media (from a volume license key downloaded ISO).
What else can I try besides a clean install?
Thanks!

You should be able to upgrade to Windows Server 2012 R2. What server roles have you installed and configured on your server? Some server roles require additional steps before you are able to upgrade. Please look at the following link for more information

  • I have upgraded Acrobat Standard from version 8 through time until I am currently using version X, which doesn't work with Office 2013.  Can I upgrade to version Standard XI?

Over the years I have upgraded Acrobat Standard from version 8 to currently working with version X.
However, since getting a new laptop it doesn't work with Office 2013.
Can I upgrade to Standard XI?

Upgrade pricing now only applies to version 9 and X. So if you have a retail serial number for X, you should be able to upgrade. (Or consider subscription).

  • Can't upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

Even though the "Windows Server Installation and Upgrade" TechNet article (DN627667) claims that I can upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, it seems I can't. I get an error message saying "Windows 2008
R2 Enterprise cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (Server Core Installation). You can choose to install a new copy of Windows..." What might be causing this issue? Thanks for any input! :)

    Hi,
Firstly, for retail versions, Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with SP1 can be upgraded to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard/Datacenter.
I assume you are running Windows Server 2008 R2 retail version, right?
In addition, it seems that in earlier version than Windows Server 2012,
once you install the server in Core or with GUI mode, you could not switch to the other. The only option was to rebuild the server from scratch.
Did you install Windows Server 2008 R2 in GUI? If yes, I recommend you to upgrade it to Windows Server 2012 R2 in GUI
mode to see if the issue persists. If it succeed and you want to run in server core, you can just remove the graphical shell and convert your Windows Server 2012 R2 to Server Core.
    Best regards,
    Susie
Thanks for replying Susie. The 2008 R2 software is the one provided by Microsoft for Action Pack subscribers, so I'm assuming it's not retail. That's another thing, I think I should be installing the GUI as my 2008 has a GUI, not just the server core. For some
reason I missed that and clicked on the server core only install!

  • How can I upgrade from OSX 10.7 to 10.9 on my 2012 mac mini? (2.3 GHz, 4 GB, 500 GB SATA disk) I don't want OSX Yosemite.

How can I upgrade from OSX 10.7 to 10.9 on my 2012 mac mini? (2.3 GHz, 4 GB, 500 GB SATA disk) I don't want OSX Yosemite.

If your Mini shipped with OS X 10.7 Lion, then it was considered a 2011 build model, or before.
The Mini 2012 model, is considered a Late 2012, & the last one where RAM could be upgraded.
And it shipped with Mountain Lion 10.8, which is a fairly OK system if one had older software.
(However mine shipped in Dec 2014, with Mavericks 10.9.0, and was built in January 2014.)
There were a few different build versions of Late 2012 Mac Mini, the i5 or i7 processor,
in dual-core or quad-core, and some CTO or built-to-order versions with other specs.
You can buy Mountain Lion from online Apple Store, & use a download code emailed to you to
get the Mt. Lion 10.8 from Apple Servers; this would be about it, since Mavericks isn't available.
So hopefully that is an option you can exercise; in addition the computer may prefer more RAM.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What parts can be upgraded in the iMac (sept 2012) besides memory at home?

Can I upgrade the hard drive from 1 tb to 3 tb or go to a 1 tb fusion drive?

If your 2012 iMac is a 27 inch screen model, the only thing you can upgrade is RAM.
If this is a new 21 inch screen iMac, then you cannot upgrade anything.
If you open up your iMac for anything, you not only void your one free year of AppleCare, but you void ever getting the option to purchase and register for the  3-year extended AppleCare warranty and no service of your IMac from Apple, directly.
Only get servicing from Apple Authorized service/repair locations.
You, basically, get left on your own.

  • Can we upgrade the graphic card on macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012

I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012. I am wondering can i upgrade the graphic card to NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete processor with up to 1GB of video memory?

Nope - you're stuck with the Intel 4000. If you wanted a higher-performance GPU, you should have bought a 15".
    Sorry,

  • Can i upgrade 8gb too 16gb on 2012 i7 macbook pro with no problems ?

Can i upgrade my 8GB Ram too a 16GB in my mid 2012 Macbook Pro i7 without any problems ? The processor is 2.9ghz i7... any help please

Yep, and you'll notice a very pleasant increase in performance. Choose a reliable brand such as Corsair, Kingston, Crucial, OWC, etc., then visit their portal to use their configurator to determine the correct model for your Mac. Be sure it is Mac-certified for maximum reliability, as these computers are very finicky when it comes to memory.

Does the 2012 Mac Pro have 2 CPU socket always? If I buy one CPU setup, can I upgrade it later to 2 CPU?

If money is no object, OWC will swap 2010 or 2012 Processor shelves for whatever you want as long as you have a working Mac Pro 5,1 shelf to swap and a ton of money.

The basic charge is US$949 starting from the 2.8 Quad.
    • to move up to the 3.33 hex add US$550 to the base price for a total of about US$1500.
    • to move to dual Quads or dual hex ADD $1470 to $4250 to the base price.

  • Can the october 2012 27" iMac internal hard drive be user upgraded?

I'm looking at buying either a Apple factory refurbrished 2012 27" imac or perhaps a used machine and would like to install a new 1Tb SSD from Crucial. I'm not willing to pay Apple for their OEM SSDs. But I've heard that there may be issues with replacing non-oem hard drives. One concern was over heating issues. OWC recommended that I have a Apple store tech install the hard drive. But I doubt Apple will install a non-apple SSD. What are the facts here?
    Thanks, Dennis
NEVER MIND. I found answers to this question elsewhere. The answer is NO - ****.

Yes, it can be upgraded, but it is not a user-replaceable part nor is adding an SSD. You will need to have this all done at an authorized Apple shop as an authorized repair. If you attempt to do the work on your own or have it done by a non-authorized technician, then your computer will be void of any further Apple service regardless of any warranty you may have.

  • Can I update 2012 mini with sad drive?

can I update 2012 macmini with ssd drive?

Take a look at the video Illaass pointed to, it shows what you'll have to do. If you've never poked inside the innards of a computer before, it looks a bit scary but its pretty easy to do if you view the video a couple times and take it slowly. But I honestly have to say it is closer to a moderate task than an easy task so you may want to take den.thed's advice and find an independant Apple service provider. You won't get this done at an Apple store.
Another possibility is to get an SSD in a thunderbolt or USB3 enclosure. It won't be quite as fast as if it were installed internally but you won't lose much and if you decide against doing the upgrade yourself it will probably be less expensive than going to an AASP.

  • Can you upgrade Acrobat 9 Standard from a "bundle" license?

Can you upgrade Acrobat 9 Standard to Acrobat XI Standard if you have a "bundle" license?  The Acrobat 9 Standard CD envelope has a serial number that must be used to install the software.

    Hi cloudnavigator,
I am not sure what 'bundled' license means here but since you have the serial number with the CD envelope, it's a retail license you have bought.
You are eligible to purchase an upgrade to acrobat 11 Std./ Pro.

  • Can I upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard (on an older PC) to 6 or newer on a new HP Pavilion23?

Can I upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard (on an older PC) to 6 or newer on a new HP Pavilion 23?

You may be able to do some work arounds with AA6 on 32-bit systems. You are probably out of luck with AA6 on 64-bit systems. (I got AA5 working with some workarounds on Win7, 32-bit) As for the upgrade, you can check at the Adobe store for the upgrade compatibilities. I think it is now at AA9, maybe AA8 for an upgrade. So, you are kind of stuck with buying a new version (no upgrade).

  • Is there a Standard free trial? If not, and I buy Standard but it's not enough, can I upgrade to Pro without paying full price?

Is there a free trial for Standard?
I tried the Pro trial but don't want to buy it if the cheaper Standard does what I need.
The comparison chart doesn't answer my question about the specific functionality I'm looking for.
If a trial isn't available, and I buy Standard but it's not enough, can I upgrade to Pro without paying full price?

    Hi Barry ,
Unfortunately there is no free trial for Acrobat Standard.
You can purchase the Standard version ,and if it does not suit your requirements ,you can return that back to us and opt for the Pro version. There is a 30 day return policy .
The reason being there is a price difference between the Standard and Pro version for Acrobat .
