Can't upgrade IOS 4.2.1 to 4.3.5 for iPad 1

Please hlep.
I have iPad1 with original IOS 4.2.1. I tried to upgrade IOS 4.2.1 to 4.3.5 for that ipad1 and iTunes said that it was not eligible to upgrade to 4.3.5.
I used downloaded firmware file of IOS 4.3.5.
I don't want to upgrade to IOS 5 and therfore what should i do to upgrade to 4.3.5?

Please anyone help for my issue.
I have iPad1 and I did not jailbreak it. It has original IOS 4.2.1 installed.
I downloaded IOS 4.3.5 for iPad from Internet and tried to upgrade througth iTunes but I got error message "The device is not eligible".
Is upgrading to IOS5 is the only way for iPad1 or is there a way for me to overcome this problem?
Thanks and regards...

Yes, you can upgrade iOS 7 for your iPhone 4.
Apple has been announced the beta 2 version, if you would like to use it,
register as developer and your device will be granted to use the beta iOS 7.

can i use Iomega 1TB MiniMax Hard Drive FireWire 800/USB for ipad 2 to access videos without using mac or pc ?

No, you can't connect an external drive to the iPad - the iPad doesn't have a USB or firewire port and the camera connection kit only supports the transfer of photos and videos into the Photos app. There are some wifi-enabled drives that can be used to stream content to the iPad e.g. Seagate GoFlex Satellite

  • Can't upgrade iOS 4.3.3 to iOS 5.1 on iPad

I'm trying to help a technophobe friend update her iPad from 4.3.3 to 5.1. She's done no upgrades to her iOS since getting her iPad. I've done each of mine seamlessly. I am completely perplexed and haven't found an answer to our dilemma since we embarked on this quest. To make it more challenging for me, she has a PC so I'm in foreign territory working on her computer. She also hasn't turned on her laptop in the year she's had her iPad so we had to update iTunes. That part went fine.
We ended up syncing her iPad about three times so all of her apps and music are up to date on the PC and the iPad. The update of the of the iOS appeared to work each time. It took the 89 minutes it predicted at the start. The update message says it's 5.1 and it says it will install after downloading. We have now gone through this process FOUR times. That's a lot of hours for nothing. The last time we actually babysat the process. It was as exciting as watching paint dry. It appeared to flow fine concluded in front of our eyes. The ipad switched to the wallpaper screen and had a small tone. The Apple came back to the top iTunes banner. Then NOTHING. I checked Settings>General>About and it still said Version 4.3.3. We uncounted the iPad, turned it off and powered it up again and it is still on 4.3.3.
    What are we doing wrong?
Her iPad is the Verizon model and I saw in one thread that said there are three varieties of upgrades but I don't know how to verify the right one is downloading from iTunes. I would hope the iTunes connection can detect which version is needed.
I also found on the Apple website the list of four upgrades she neglected before 5.1. It indicates those older updates are available in iTunes but I can't figure out where to get to them. The Upgrade button goes right to the 5.1 version. I'm wondering if there are components in those incremental updates that she needs before 5.1 will work, or does 5.1 install everything she's missed along the way?
Any help or insight on this frustrating situation will be appreciated.

I solved this problem with detective work and hints from another discussion thread. I detailed my solution here on the 3 April 2012 entry of the following thread:
iOS 5.1 won't upgrade my iPod & iPad 2 on my newer mac, but it will install perfectly to my sisters same model iPod using an old windows laptop in the same internet connection in the same house

Perhaps someone else is struggling with the same roadblock. You cannot jump from 4.3.3 to 5.0 or beyond over a wireless connection. You must be plugged in with an ethernet connection to your internet. After 5.0 you can update OTA, translation Over The Air.
I don't know if the OP (Original Poster) was trying to do it wirelessly with a Mac, but in my case it had nothing to do with being on a PC or Mac (with the exception of me being in foreign territory in her house and on her PC - MacLoyal, I am) and everything to do with not having a wired connection to the net.

  • Can I upgrade iOS and still retain *everything*, if I didn't authorize Apple ID and didn'nor had I performed a manual backup?

I am an IT guy here helping 10+ iPad and iPhone users upgrading to iOS 5.  I have finished the first two devices, by the following steps:
Obtain the user's Apple ID and password
Get to a clean computer (precisely, logon to a clean profile)
Authorize the user's ID in iTunes
Transfer purchases (then it will download all installed apps)
Maannuly perform a backup (1), just in case.
Perform iOS5 update following the standard procedure.
Then during the process, iTunes backs up the device again (I am not sure if this backup (2) has any different from the one that I've done manually), but after everything is done, all apps with their data, account setting, camera roll, even the placing of app icons seemed to be restored to the updated device 100% successfully.
Deauthorize Apple ID.  "Next one please."
    THAT WAS VERY TIME CONSUMING!!
My question is, what will happen if I upgrade a device without doing step 1 through 5 first ?  Will backup (2) still backs up everything and restore it,although the user's ID was not authorized in this copy of iTunes?
If this works then it wil save me a lot of time.  I can't risk to test it because if it doesn't work, I won't have a good backup to restore the user's data.
(PS) If you asked me why don't I do this on each user's computer?  The reason is because some of them do not have a computer, and for those who does have computer, most of them do not have iTunes installed.

In summary, there is no way, for me to fully restore all apps that my users had installed (purchased / free), without authorizing their Apple ID's to iTunes on the computer which I am using to perform the iOS upgrade for them ?
However, I found out it is possible that my nightmare will end after all devices get upgraded to iOS5. Through some tests that I did, I found an interesting fact:
    - Backup to iTunes:
You need to authorize every single Apple ID on iTunes, so it can back up apps and restore for you.
    - Backup to iCloud:
Since there is no action of authorizing, it will backup and restore all of your apps, whcih were installed by different Apple ID, or totally different than the ID of iCloud account.
*I tested this scenario by backing up a device with only 2 apps installed by 2 diffrent Apple ID's (of course, one of them is used as iCloud account to back up), this device has never been connected to iTunes on a computer, I performed a backup to cloud, wipe the device, restore from the cloud, and both apps, purchased by different Apple ID's, were restored!
But I need to run more tests and confirm that it works.

  • Can we upgrade IOS in WLC 5508 through CISCO prime?

I have CISCO prime 2.0 and CISCO WLC 5508 HA SSO pair.
I would like to upgrade the software code for the WLC HA pair.
Can I do through the CISCO prime ......
    As per the link :http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/7-5/High_Availability_DG.html#pgfId-43571
    1. After the WLCs are configured in the HA setup, the Standby WLC cannot be upgraded directly from the TFTP/FTP server.
Prime do the upgrade through FTP server , so will it be ok if we do the upgrade through it, for HA WLC.

Please check this link to upgrade wLC software in HA setup.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/7-5/High_Availability_DG.html
Once the Primary WLC complete the upgrade , it will transfer the entire image to the Standby WLC via the Redundant Port.

  • I can't upgrade ios 6 in my iphone 4s

When i check for Software Update in my iphone. It shows to upgrade the ios 6. But after starting the downloading the ios 6, it show some downloading and updating failure message.
Could you please help me to update the new ios 6 in my iphone 4s ?
    Thanks in advance.

If you are using a Windows machine, temporarily turn off your
firewall and anti-virus. If you are trying to update over the air,
check your wireless connection. And don't forget there is an
enormous crush on the servers right now. Try doing the
over the air update at another location using another
wireless network to see if that helps.
You could also connect your iPhone 4s to the computer with
which you normally sync and update using iTunes.

  • Can't upgrade to 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 for Lion 10.7 what do i do??

    Hello there this is Daniel
I hope someone can help me with the following.. I have a Mac Book Pro and when I was getting ready to upgrade to 10.6.7 this happened right after it downloaded of the software-upgrade on my Mac..
    http://cl.ly/0n0p423s423z1k2Q1221
It locked right from where it restarts once a complete download, it started showing these... as follows, not letting me start it.. and it would go pass this..
    http://cl.ly/0X433W22042M2I2K3M3Z
I had to take to an apple store which they couldn't identify what the problem was, one of the guys took a hardware test and it showed it was a hard drive driver that was causing this, but it had never had this problem before, so it is not.. I guess...  the rest of the images I took are these, I hope it can help me solve this problem now that I need to use iCloud I can't, not with leopard 10.6.6..
I talked to one of the guys at apple tech support and he said to download the upgrade directly from the support page, and I told him that I had purchased Lion from the Mac App store first thing it came out, and since I could update to 10.6.7 then he mentioned to just download Lion from the app store, I don't think it is going to work really. since I remember they told me they tried it then it was at the shop...
I think that had already been done, I know it is a software issue due the fact that it continues to work just fine on 10.6.6, it is my work and home computer and can't leave it there for long, so I hope someone can help me with this and maybe just get it working with Lion!!! as soon as it is possible!...

Thanks for your reply dear Kurt!
