Can't Upgrade iTunes
When installing get four errors early in the install:
Error1905.Module C:\Program\(path to QuickTime directory here) followed by each of the following in turn
QTOCOntrol.dll failed to unregister
QTOLibrary failed to unregister
QTUIPanelControl.dll failed to unregister
QuickTIme Check.ocx failed to unregister
If you blow by all of these the install continues but after completing Copying New Files you get:
Could not open key HKEY-LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTIme PlayerLib.QuickTImePlayerApp\CLSID
At this point the install rolls back and you are told QuickTime could not install and is required.
Happens everytime ... many times.
Any advice on how to upgrade without losing current libraries?
Dell Windows XP Pro
It seems that QuickTime is still open, in the Windows notification area, find the QuickTime logo, right click it and select Exit.
Now try and update iTunes.

Can I upgrade iTunes 11.3 to 11.4?
Can I upgrade iTunes 11.3 to 11.4 using the iTunes11.4.dmg file? If so, are there anythings I need to watch for? I don't want to go to iTunes 12.
Yes, you can. Double-click on the .dmg file then double-click on the installer revealed inside. That's it. You can't go to iTunes 12 without first installing Yosemite, I believe.

Can't upgrade iTunes latest version ???
I cannot upgrade iTunes to latest version. When I go to download, I get a quick flash of the iTunes store status bar, and that's it. No error message. I can access the the store and make purchases. I turned off virus protection and enabled iTunes in Windows firewall. Any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this?

Help! Can't Upgrade iTunes!
Hello everyone!
I just bought my first iPod (a Nano) tonight and when I plug it into my computer, it's telling me I need to download a newer version of iTunes. So I did.
Trouble is, I think I accidentally blocked the download popup. And now it takes me straight to the Thank You page.
I've tried clearing my cookies and enabling popups, but every time I try to download iTunes, it takes me to the Thank You page. Does anyone know how I can download the newest version? This is driving me a bit nuts.
I'm on a PC with Windows XP. I've already rebooted my computer (after clearing my cookies and enabling popups) and it STILL takes me to the Thank You page.
I don't know what to do. Apparently, the new iPods just came out two weeks ago, so I can't use it unless I have the newest version of iTunes. And I can't seem to download it. Grrrr!
Thanks!
Michelle

The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
Xserve (Early 2009)
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
or Mountain Lion:

Iphone not recognized by itunes/can't upgrade itunes/ don't want to upgrade software
After having my iphone 3g "fixed" in the apple store and connecting it to one of their brand new computers, my itunes no longer recognizes my iphone and says I need to upgrade to new Itunes which I can't do because I only have the Tiger version of software. Is there anything I can do so my iphone can go back to normal without purchasing updated software?
I am having a similar problem. I am attempting to install the airport extreme card in my ibook g4. The computer is not recognizing the card and now it isn't recognizing the iphone. If I remove the airport card then itunes recognizes the iphone. I have the original phone with the 2.01 update. I'm stumped.

Can't upgrade iTunes... can't uninstall QuickTime
Help!!
I've missed a couple of upgrades to iTunes, waiting to investigate the problem - error 1322, a portion of the path exceeds the maximum length allowed by the system.
Now I think I've isolated it. If I try and uninstall Quicktime (version 7.1) I get the same problem.
So I think uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime will help. But how do I do that - I can't get past the error.
Any experienced insights will be welcomed!
Thank you
Windows XPI just solved a similar problem by using "Windows Install Clean Up" to completely remove my old version of Quicktime. Be very careful using this program, since it removes programs from the Window's registry. You can download it from Microsoft's web site.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Be sure to carefully read all the instructions on the webpage before using the program.
Run the "Windows Install Clean Up" program.
Select Quicktime and remove it. Don't select anything else!
After this, try updating iTunes. I hope it works for you.

Problems with QT file I can't delete -so can't upgrade itunes?
I am running Windows XP and have been trying to upgrade my i-tunes for over a month. The installation fails when I get this message: "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTimeVR.qtx. Verify that you have access to that directory." I beleive error is caused by fragment of previous version of QuickTIme that I can't delete. I earlier uninstalled QT, but folder is still in Program listing, containing 1 file which is empty. Yet, I can't delete the file because computer tells me that the file directory is not empty.
I have run diskclean, cclean, tried deleting manually all QT files after running search of c drive, & searched forums for solutions. Using rmdir doesn't work because it either doesn't see QT file or views it as corrupted. I am the only user on this machine - there is not an "administrator" who is controlling the machine.
Any and all ideas would be appreciated!

I want to sync IPhone 5 with itunes, but I can't upgrade itunes nor mac os.
I just got the iPhone 5 and I would like to sync it to my itunes to upload music. However, apparently I need to buy the snow leopard os for $200 to do so. I am not willing to pay $200 just to upload music on my phone. There has to be another way to do connect my iphone to itunes. Below are the specifications for my mac.

Location: /Applications/iTunes.appIf you aren't willing to upgrade your MacOS to something newer than about 5 years old, then consider using BootCamp and Windows, then use a Windows version of iTunes.
I personally recommend considering the MacOS update. I have heard reports that if you call Apple on the phone, you might be able to purchase an upgrade to Snow Leopard for $30. You could always find a friend who has a Mac with Snow Leopard or newer, and sign onto the Mac App store using your ID (but their computer) to buy a license for Lion or Mountain Lion, then after downloading it, use the Lion disc maker to make a bootable USB key to install the newer (and only $30) OS on your hardware. With that, you would then qualify to run iTunes 10.7 or even iTunes 11. -
I have no sound. Sync wouldn't load because it needed and upgrade in iTunes. iTunes wouldn't load the upgrade. Now I have no sound. I am using a laptop, Macbook 10.5.8 with Leopard software.
I'm familar with handbreak, I'll try and get back to you.
