Can't upgrade to Firefox 5.0

I have few problems now with my favorite program for internet: First, I can't see any YouTube videos as it is constantly asking to upgrade Flash Player (on Chrome everything is working fine but I hate to switch between programs, I want to use one program for all as before).
Another thing is problem with upgrade to version 5.0. I just can't find page when it comes to start download (Firefox can't find the server at download.mozilla.org.). I'm seaman on board of ship near Ecuadorian coast and just started to use new laptop bought in Croatia. Have another one with same Windows 7 and Firefox and that one works just fine (except Firefox often crashes).

For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

  • How can I upgrade my Firefox 3.5 to 4 in Ubuntu 10.4

I'm trying to upgrade firefox to the newest version in Ubuntu 10.4 and realised that the version that came with the package is 3.5 and not 3.6. So how can I upgrade to Firefox 4?

This is the official way to update firefox using the ppa:
    http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-firefox-4-in-ubuntu-using-ppa.html
It works on my Lucid 10.04 - even got my first update.....

  • Can't upgrade to firefox 16

So I checked in Firefox 15.0 and my Norton Security Suite Toolbar looks all ready for Firefox 16, but when I clicked on "Help", "About" and "Check for updates", it keeps saying that my Firefox is "up to date"! I want to upgrade to Firefox 16, but all I get is an installation link for Firefox 15.0.1! This stinks! How can I upgrade to Firefox 16? I'm on Windows XP SP3, BTW.

Basically the release is coming out on a Microsoft Patch yesterday(Tuesday), we check to ensure that we don't have conflicts with Windows Update.
    thank you

  • Can I upgrade from Firefox 3 (updated newest version) to Firefox 4 and keep my bookmarks and settings or will I lose them if I upgrade ?

I want to upgrade to the new Firefox 4 from my Firefox 3. But I don't want to lose my settings, tags and bookmarks that I have now. So my question is: Can I upgrade without losing these ?
    Please Help !

Firefox 4 will by default use the same profile folder (location where bookmarks, passwords etc are stored) as previously installed versions. You will not lose your user data by upgrading.

  • How can I upgrade to Firefox 3.6.6 if I cannot open the browser of my current 3.5.10 version?

I can't open my Firexox browser and as I understand, upgrading to a new ff version will fix this problem and keep my settings and bookmarks as well. But how do I upgrade if I can't open my browser?
Alternately I could create a new profile of my current FF version and transfer my settings, but I have to close my current FF session which I can't do without accessing my browser which in turn won't open.
Either way I'm in a catch-22. Is there a solution for either issue?

First, try to determine the reason that Firefox 3.5.10 is hanging or not starting. Since you did not specify, you will need to read some of the following to determine hanging or starting; hanging usually gives you an error message when you try to start Firefox. See below. If you install Firefox 3.6.6 over the top of 3.5.10 and the cause of the hanging or not starting is one or more extensions or plugins or some other cause, Firefox 3.6.6 may experience the same problem.

[[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]
    <u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>
You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes <u>'''before'''</u> starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    See:
    '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''
    '''[[Troubleshooting plugins]]'''
    '''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>'''one at a time'''</u> until the problem reappears. <u>'''You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change'''</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • Can't upgrade in Firefox

    Hi there
Whatever I do, Firefox won't upgrade to Flash Player 10.2.
I've uninstalled FP using the approved Adobe uninstaller.
    I've rebooted.
I've fired up Firefox and gone to Adobe's check site.
    FP 10.0 is still there.
Why? This is about the umpteenth time I've been through this idiotic process over the years (and I can NEVER remember how I fixed it last time).
Why doesn't a new install overwrite the old one (like other software)?
Why can't I uninstall the old version?
    Why, Adobe?
    jeff the (sad) frog

Hi, Well, I don't know....yet. Use the links from your thread here, not your email.
Download the FP Uninstaller and SAVE it to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download the FP Installer for FF from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
    Close all browsers windows.
Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Then Run the Installer and when finished,Reboot.
Test your FF browser here and you should be able to see the Flash logo animate and the vs displayed.

  • When i tried to upgreaded to firefox 4.0, it said i have to reboot my PC to upgrade. however, i did restarted my PC twice and it still had the same message. so how can i upgraded to firefox 4?

    '''bold text'''

The Firefox 3.5.x branch has reached end-of-life and is no longer maintained.<br />
You will no longer receive security updates.<br />
You can update Firefox via "Help > Check for Updates" or download and install the latest Firefox 3.6.x.<br />
Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/4.0/system-requirements/
If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • I Can't upgrade my FireFox to the newest version.

It won't allow me to upgrade, I can download and install as if there is no issue, but once I actually get back on, it's still the same old version.

Chances are your user agent is just wrong. See below to check:
    * Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
    * If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
    * Filter = general.useragent.
    * Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
    * Then restart Firefox

    Hi stupidpassword
    1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    2. '''Trash''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
    3. Install the version that you have downloaded.
Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

  • Can't upgrade from Firefox 3.5.3 to 3.6.x in OS X 10.5.8.

I've downloaded the latest version of Firefox, quit and restarted and I still end up with my older version of Firefox.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • Paypal will not display pictures (text only). Can not buy things on the internet. Can not upgrade flash in firefox.

3 problems: 1) I can't buy anything online. Firefox has a popup that states that all payment sites (Amazon, paypal, etc.) are forbidden and tries to protected me from them and blocks me (will not let me bypass the block). 2) Once I figure a work around the block Paypay shows as text only (shows all content on internet explorer) 3) try to upgrade adobe flashplayer as suggested in a forum and adobe flash can not upgrade when firefox is open. Been on firefox for several years now why the sudden ultimate security?

Quite honestly, I think you need to go back to Flash 10.3.183.90, a version that was kept alive specifically for WinXP users. The Flash 11 and later versions have a separate plugin container that isn't available for anything below Win Vista with feature you can't even use. I see no advantage to anything newer and on the down side the newer versions are a lot more likely to crash frequently.
First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then download Flash 10.3.183.90 from here - about halfway down the page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
    (Released 6/11/2013) Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (61.1 MB)
IMO, the best version of Flash for WinXP. Adobe kept up with security updates for 10.3 for WinXP users long after Flash 11.0 came out in 2011 for Vista and newer versions of Windows.
Run the uninstaller, then reboot your operating system.
Then you can run the Flash installer, with Firefox closed, of course.
''Note, if you still use IE, you'll need to reinstall the ActiveX version of Flash for IE. That uninstaller removes all versions of Flash that might be installed,''

  • Anyway I can continue to use Firefox with my MAC OS X 10.4.11 system?

I have a MAC OS X 10.4.11 operating system. I am using Firefox 3.6.6. I can't upgrade to Firefox 4 because of my operating system. I have just found that I can't even upgrade to 3.6.22 (the download will not complete itself). Does this mean that in the near future I will not be able to use Firefox securely? Is there any way I can be a secure Firefox user in the future with my OS X 10.4.11 system?
    Thank you

Firefox 3.6.22 is the latest version available for Mac OSX 10.4 and PPC Macs. <br />

  • I have Mac version 10.3.9 and would like to upgrade my Firefox to a version that supports Google calendar.

I have a Mac version 10.3.9 and use Google email and calendar, and am now getting messages that they will be phasing out support for my browser, which is Firefox 2.0.0.20
The new Firefox version offered requires Mac 10.4 or above. Can I upgrade my Firefox to meet the Google requirements without upgrading my Mac?

You can alco check using the model number.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Xserve (Early 2009) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.         Application Compatibility

  • I can no longer attach files in Yahoo mail since upgrading to FireFox 4.0.1. I click the "attach" button and nothing happens - no file list to select from appears; nothing.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1 the "attach files" function in my Yahoo Mail account no longer functions. When I click the "attach files" button nothing happens - nothing. No file selection box opens, no error message appears, no pinwheel of death, nothing.
The "attach files" button is no longer 'hot' in FF 4.0.1 either = the "little hand" icon does not appear when I scroll over it. Other action buttons are still 'hot' ("attachments", "emoticons", "format", "hide bcc"etc.) - just not the "attach files" button.
The Yahoo Mail "attach files" function still works when I use my Safari browser, however. So, it appears to be a FF4.0.1 issue.
