Can't upgrade to newest version of iTunes

I've never had a problem with iTunes in my life until the newest update came out a little over a month ago. Every time I try to download and install it, it gets stuck anywhere from 3mb into it to close to 30mb into it. I've tried the download only option but get the same results. My operating system is vista if that helps. I'm just getting frustrated and finally broke down and came on here looking for a little help! Someone, anyone...

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How can I make the newest version of iTunes for Windows run faster?

I know I'm not the only one when I say that iTunes is by far one of the slowest programs on my computer.  I'm running Windows 7 and running the most recent version of iTunes for Windows.  Does anyone have some tips to make it run faster and smoother?  I have Genius and Ping disabled, but I'm not quite sure what else I can do.

The newest version of iTunes should install if you are runnig 10.7.
Do you get any error messages?

I have the same problem. I've even tried to uninstall iTunes but I get the same errormessage that it can't find iTunes.msi. Specifically it says it can't find iToons 8.0.0.35. I can't get updates for iTunes or my iPhone.

  • I can't install the newest version of iTunes.

I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, but when I try to install it, I get a Windows Installer error that "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." When I launch the current version of iTunes, I keep getting a popup window that the AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working. I don't even know what that might mean, but if I ignore the popup window, multiple windows continue opening up. Has anyone had this problem? If so, how can I get rid of these errors?
    Thanks.

  • Can't install the newest version of iTunes

    Hi.
I am trying to download the newest version of iTunes, its going about 3/4 of the way through the process then an error message is coming up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the instillation programe 'i tunes .msi' in the box below".
I've tried clicking OK but it brings up the same message and cannot find a folder that it needs.
When I click cancel, it says "The older version of Itunes cannot be removed"
    Any Ideas???
    Cheers

  • Can't install the newest version of iTunes...or anything else!

I just got a new macbook pro today, and it shipped with snow leopard and a slightly older version of iTunes than my older macbook had.
the problem is I can't run iTunes as I get a message that says "The file "iTunes library" cannot be read because it was made with a older version of iTunes". I try to upgrade by downloading the newest version from apple.com and run the installer, but the installer never finishes and I get error message that says "The installer encountered a error that caused the installation to fail, contact the software developer"
I also get a error message when trying to update iTunes or any other software with software update.

  • Older mac can't upgrade/buy newest version pages

late 2009 iMac running yosemite 10.10 gets this error message when attempting to upgrade Pages to the latest version thru the Mac App Store.
"Can't upgrade as this app was purchased by a different user, or was cancelled previously.  "
This is a new userid on a machine that had been used by someone else previously who is long gone and left no userid and password information.
Only Pages copy on the machine is Pages '09 Version 4.3 Build 1048.
Any advice on how to get the system to allow them to buy the newest Pages version?

You will need to back up that Pages ’09 version for safe keeping as it has 110 more features/functionality than any version of Pages v5. The latter was a brand new application in Oct. 2013, and Apple barely added any functionality from the Pages ’09 application. Pages v5 has had numeric updates with almost nothing to show for improvements.
Someone previously acquired OS X for this machine, and registered the installation to their Apple ID as administrator. Gone or not, only they can acquire application updates from the OS X App Store using that previously associated Apple ID. Only the administrative account on the Mac can install system and application software.
To free this machine from this prior Apple ID lock, you will need to reinstall OS X Yosemite, and associate this Mac's administrator account Apple ID with the new installation (on a fresh boot after install). Any OS X App Store applications previously acquired via another Apple ID are not available to you. Once the reinstallation is complete, then signing into the OS X App Store with the administrator's Apple ID will permit application purchases, downloads, and software updates by that administrator.

  • I can't download the newest version of iTunes.

Running on Mac OS X 10.4 and can't download the most recent version of iTunes. Can't connect my iPhone to iTunes because it's not the newest version. I have no clue what to do!

You need to buy Mac OS X 10.5 if you have a G4 or G5 Mac, Mac OS X 10.6 if you have an Intel Mac, or a new Mac if you're using a G3.

  • Can't download the newest version of itunes

I am having issues on installing the latest version of itunes. Keep getting the error screen.  I have a iphone 5c and when I connect to my computer it says I need to update this version to be able to get my music off itunes. Frustrated! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What error screen are you getting, and how are you trying to download the update, within iTunes or via a browser ?
You should be able to download the latest version of iTunes on your computer within iTunes :
On a Mac in iTunes : iTunes > Check For Updates
On a PC : Help > Check For Updates
Or you can download the current version of iTunes from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Have you tried downloading the update via a different browser ?

  • TS1331 I can't download the newest version of Itunes onto my laptop

I keep getting an air message "the feature you are trying too use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Help!!

    Hello Lea Fav,
Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you are getting the error, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable," on your Windows laptop when installing the latest version of iTunes.  I found an article that addresses this error when trying to uninstall iTunes, and I think it might help with installing iTunes as well:

If you are still having trouble installing iTunes after following the steps in that article, I recommend following the step in this article:
