Can't upgrade to OS 9.2.1

I was wondering if anyone out there knows why I am getting the following error and how to correct it.
I have a 400Mhz AGP Powermac G4 running OS 10.4.4 and I needed to update the firmware so I could install a newer processor. So I partitioned a second hard drive installed OS 9.1 that I bought because I saw that I could upgrade to OS 9.2.2 for free from Apple's website. Install of OS 9.1 went well and is working. I was able to update firmware to 4.2.8, however I downloaded OS 9.2.1 North American english from Apple's website burned it to a cd and when I tried to run the installer I get a popup saying there is an error of -127 and then my computer freezes up and I lose control of the keyboard and mouse. I tried restarting the finder and nothing works until I reboot the maching twice. Then I can delete the OS 9.2.1 installer. I then downloaded the installer via the Apple website and the same thing happened the second the installer finished downloading. Can someone tell me whats happening and how to correct it so that I can install OS 9.2.1 then OS 9.2.2

Well I updated to OS 9.2.2 while in OS X fine with the tip you gave me, Then and a window said something about the ATI video card not working correctly then it froze. So I installed the OS 9.1 cd shut it down rebooted and was able to select the OS X drive as startup. I then downloaded the OS 9.2.2 driver for the ATI video card I have and OS 9.2.2 worked fine. Then I selected the disk that I installed OS 9.2.2 as start up disk. OS 9.2.2 started and then froze right after I clicked on a window that said, " All in one USB tool driver missing would you like to check the internet for driver. I clicked ok on this it started software updater which began connecting to the internet then a window with a red stop sign and a hand popped up and then everything froze. So I used the OS 9.1 disk again to get back into Mac OS X. Any ideas whats going on and how to fix it?

My laptop is relatively new and I only bought it a few months ago, model #VPCEB. It currently has a 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 5470 which I want to upgrade so I can have StarCraft II run smoothly because it is kind of choppy right now. I just want to know, is there a way I can actually upgrade my computer and what would be a good graphics card?

It used to be that some laptops would come with 2-3 options of graphics chipsets, and you could swap between them, plus manufacturers might use the same form factor for a series of laptops (For example, all Dell Inspiron 8000 series units used the same card form factor - so you could upgrade an I8000 to the graphics chipset that came with the I8200). This is no longer the case, even the highend gaming laptops don't have upgradeable graphics.

You can upgrade from HDD to SSD drive, but will not recommend it as it will void the warranty on the unit.
Pertaining to bluray drive, you might have some compatibility issues unless you find the right model.

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the processor or graphics card on this laptop.

You will see down near the bottom of the page that it is not upgradeable. Some laptops come with the processor soldered to the motherboard. Almost all laptop graphics are this way. The only way that you would be able to get a faster processor/better graphics for this laptop would be to purchase a brand new motherboard. You can do an Ebay search for 'HP G6 motherboard' to see what average prices are if you want to go this route.

Graphics card no; not possible at all. Hard drive; yes but only by 40% to 1 TB and as a practical matter only 750gb drives currently have good performance. 1TB drives are big but slow.

Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.
Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service tag with printed part number and a product name. Please post the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase. Also post the installed CPU type. (AMD or Intel)

You could upgrade but since your in the same family processor your not gong to get any gains with the upgrade. Stick with your current processor.

Can I Upgrade my OS or Should I Buy New Laptop?

OK, so I have been out of the Apple loop for quite some time. This laptop is from 2008. I love it, but the OS is too old. I can't update Firefox or download Chrome. I am a student and need to figure out a solution very very soon as Fall quarter starts next week. The college uses a site that doesn't work well with Safari, it prefers Chrome. So, I can't use my computer to do work. So, a few questions:
1. Can I upgrade OS? If so, how? Are there problems with this?
2. Should I just buy a new MacBook Air from Apple?
3. I have considered buying a MacBook Air used from Ebay, Amazon or Craigslist. Please tell me if you think this is a good or bad idea and why? What to look for on used computer? Being a student, I am obviously trying to save as much money as possible. Some say Ebay is good because of the great buyer protection. Please tell me your thoughts.
I don't use the computer for anything other than school work and searching the web. I don't need anything fancy.
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

It's a good idea to hash this out with someone at the Apple Store, who can show you the latest gear and its advantages/disadvantages. My responses are only mine; I hope others will chime in.
1. Upgrade or update? You can't upgrade the OS, but every year, Apple updates the OS and offers features that can be quite appealing. I haven't experienced any problem with updates.
2. You can buy a new MBA from Apple, but I strongly suggest looking at refurbs; just as good, at a reduction in price.
3. You're safe with Amazon for the most part, though the price is nearly always retail. You can get a good machine on eBay, but it helps if you know your values and contact the seller before bidding. I don't trust Craigslist. Realize, however, that an eBay item probably won't have much or any of the original warranty, and some sellers may unload less-than-perfect machines. If you to the eBay route, insist on the return period if the machine seems to have problems.
Features you should be aware of? SSD disk size - how much space do you need? Screen size - do you want 11" or 13"? Battery issues - don't expect long battery life, though the 2013 shows an improvemen; assume you'll be using the wall adapter a lot.
