I tried to change mirror from mirrorlist, but it gives the same result on different mirrors too. It started to blame like that a day before yesterday and I tried to fix it myself. Without luck. Help?

The first two generations of Mac Pro (2006-2007) cannot run 10.8 at all, and so cannot run Logic Pro X. You will have to remain on the older version of Logic Pro.

Problem when try to upgrade with -Syu

I'm back on linux and today installed my old Arch(3.11.2-1-ARCH). I want to update it because I didnt start it 1+ years ago. I run pacman -Syu and it ask for replace some package but whatever i answer( I try with all Y and all N) there is the same error - unresolvable package conflicts detected. Here is my output from the terminal. I'll glad if someone point me to the right way
p.P.:I have many customization on it like - intel HD graphic driver, sound manager, compiz, eclipse and so on... so I'll be happy if I can upgrade and dont losing all of them

Running `pacman -R` without the -n switch will leave all of your configuration files alone and just remove the package files. In this case it might be helpful to remove anything you can without removing packages from the "base" group, to minimize conflicts. After successfully upgrading the remaining packages, run `pacman -S <packages>` to (re)install the newest version of the packages you removed. At least it has worked for me to avoid package conflicts in the past; your mileage may vary. See removing packages and pacman tips.
If all else fails, in theory you could run something like `pacman -r /mnt -R $(pacman -r /mnt -Q | cut -d ' ' -f 1)` from a live CD to remove all packages, then use pacstrap to reinstall them. Use this as a last resort and make a backup first!

Can't upgrade with less than a month on contract left....don't want "The Edge" program either

My husband and I are both due for upgrades May 14, 2014 (less than a month away)- we were refused a new 2 year contract with the purchase of 2 Samsung S5 phones yesterday in store and told to call customer service and they would adjust our update date. After 45 minutes on the phone with them, mostly on hold waiting to speak with a supervisor because their cs rep was rude, we were told they would approve an early upgrade for any phone EXCEPT the one we want. They would rather makes us wait to upgrade 30 days, with my husbands phone not holding a charge, and allow us time to decide which provider we want to move to than sign us to two new two year contracts. Is this how loyal customers are treated?

CAUTION: If u currently have an UNLIMITED DATA PLAN... then, u do NOT want to use your upgrade, because u loose it, after the upgrade!!! ... I still have the old UNLIMITED DATA PLAN, because, they told me, I'd loose it, if I upgraded... only way to keep your unlimited data plan, is to get a phone from online... Amazon, ebay, or pay full price for a phone,which stinks, but it's better then loosing unlimited data!

If you want to play a safe way. GTX580M is your choice. If you expect a GPU performance boost, then I do not have any recommendation, but you should refer to this thread first before buying a new card.

Hi,
I can't upgrade (pacman -Syu) my system due some cups related problems.
AS you can see, although the problem seems to be cups related, none of the other packages has been upgarded as well.

Can Apple upgrade my MacBook with a DVD burner?

Just wondering if my MacBook can be upgraded with a DVD burner without additional problems relating to the upgrade ocurring. I wasn't ready to buy another Mac that had it already preinstalled.

Theoretically, you can upgrade it without any problem.
But the question : will they do that?
I read a post or two in this forum a while ago that user being denied by apple store when they asked to upgrade their optical drive.
Usually not to long after a mac released, third party reseller will have the optical as an upgrade option, but I never see one for macbook until now.

Those 667 Mhz RAM models are in the "vintage" stage and better left on 10.6.8 right where you've got it.
You can upgrade to 10.8, however your going to need to bump up the RAM to 4GB, lose all your PowerPC based software (won't run in 10.7-10.8) and take a performance hit as well as risking bricking your machine with no AppleCare coverage to pay to fix it.
We are getting security updates for 10.6.8, just Apple isn't numbering them any further.
10.6 currently has 25% OS X version market share still and will have a good chunk for quite some time due to legacy PPC based software people still need to run.
It won't hurt if you want to buy a newer machine and gradually ease into it, I guessing you have another 2 more years before Apple drops 10.6 users for security updates, perhaps by then you'll be ready for a new machine.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still

If you are asking about a computer you already own, no, Apple’s computers officially cannot be upgraded after purchase. Unofficially the hard drives of some computers can be upgraded by third parties. For the MBA in particular the 2013 models and older can be upgraded with larger hard drives.
If you are asking about buying a new computer, Apple stores generally carry the popular models which include a few upgraded models. The easy way to tell if your computer will be at the store or if you have to order it at Apple’s website is to go to Apple’s website store and select the computer with the upgrades you are interested it. Then select in store pickup and select your preferred store. You will be told if it is available for pickup now or if you’ll have to order it for delivery to the store. BTW this is a great way to buy a computer from Apple. Order it online for in store pickup. If it is available you’ll get an email or text within an hour or so telling you it is ready. Can not print with HP LaserJet 6L since the upgrade to Mavericks. Any alternative driver for this printer?

I have an HP LaserJet 5P and had the same problem. My LaserJet is connected to a D-Link ethernet print server, then to an Airport Express to support wireless printing.
As recommended in earlier posts, I first downloaded the Gutenprint HP drivers at Sourceforge, version 5.2.9 That did not work. Then found the reference to the Apple kb here: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl907
Downloaded these drivers. When setting up the printer, I got the autoselect option for Generic Postscript Printer and used that. Printer worked, but printed out garbage. I then deleted the printer, and this time selected the HP LaserJet 5P CUPS + Gutenprint v.5.2.9 THAT WORKED! I don't know if was the combination of downloading the drivers from Sourceforge and the Apple kb, or just the Apple kb that solved the problem, but I'm glad this is now sorted.
I was a bit surprised when I hit this snag to begin with because the last upgrade I did from Lion to Mountain Lion, I did not have this issue. It was seamless.
