Can't upgrade without giving up access at work
We still use Tiger at work -- lots of G4s and G5s, Quark 6.5, and old, proprietary (database driven) production system. Any upgrade has to be planned carefully and will be a company-wide hardware and software upgrade.
Unfortunately, we can't justify upgrading an entire company to Snow Leopard so I can sync my calendar at home and at work. And I can't upgrade at home without giving up the work availability.
Sigh. Oh well.

I have a similar situation at home, with two machines which can't progress beyond 10.4.11. The bad news is that events added to a calendar on an iOS 4.x device will never sync to the Tiger machines. The "good" news is that it does work the other way around, so an event you add at work will show up on your home machines as long as you do not "upgrade" to the new MobileMe.

I think not. You will need to order a disc from Apple quoting your serial number, as many of these discs are machine specific. So unless you can get your drive working I think you will have to take a trip to an Apple store.
Indeed, you have an old computer that may not be worth the cost of repair ... but it is still worth seeking Apple advice and a visual inspection. It just might be something not too drastic. -

That's actually not true. Snow Leopard will only run on Intel Macs. The situation is this :
Any Mac capable of running Snow Leopard OR EARLIER will be able to run AW - Lion is the first OS that can't.
PPC Macs will run as far as Leopard 10.5.8 - they should have 1GB RAM minimum, but can run with less RAM for Tiger. They will all run AppleWorks.
All but the latest Intel Macs will run Snow Leopard and therefore Rosetta and therefore AW too.
However, current iMacs that come with Lion preinstalled can have 10.6 installed on a separate partition (must be 10.6.6 or later), to run Rosetta.
The current generation of MacBooks, and Air, cannot have 10.6 installed and therefore cannot run AW.
I don't know what the situation is with the latest Mac Pros. -

Limitation
: I don't have Passwords of mailboxes , so i gave all mailbox access permission to one user , then i completed this service using below code.
But now, Client
not willing to give Mailbox Permissions to one user because of security problems.
How can i do this without passwords and without giving permissions to other user ?
i don't want all mailbox access , i just need only
access Mail Subject , Body and Sender mail address .

Install Failure! Can't Upgrade without Upgrading first!
I need to be running 10.3.9 to use my new Nano...
I ordered Tiger 1.4 but it only came on DVD (without special ordering the CD and waiting... I don't do waiting well...)
So, I ordered a new Lacie CD R/W and DVD [read only].
It reads the DVD, but when I click on the install icon, it ejects the DVD and tells me the media is not readable...although it just read it.
Seems I need to upgrade my Firmware for the DVD Reader...
I downloaded the Firmware upgrade from Lacie, but it says I have to be running at least system 10.2 in order to update the firmware!
So, I can't do the upgrade without the firmware and I can't load the firmware without the upgrade...
Any suggestions?? Do I just have to order the CD and wait??? ThanksWell, the wait for a CD copy of the software seems to be "forever" as indicated by the .pdf order form. First you have to print out the order form and wait for your DVD to arrive. Then mail the order form by snail mail with payment and proof of purchase of the DVD. Then wait for Apple to return it to you...also by snail mail...AND the order form indicates that all orders for CD's must be placed by YESTERDAY. "Orders must be postmarked by December 20, 2006."
I have not tried to boot from the Firewire port. Sounds like [from you] that that would not work anyway. The USB two port DOES recognize the DVD and read it but will not boot from it...but it seems to indicate that the DVD should boot IF I can only get the Firmware upgrade to load.
I may just have to find someone locally who owns 10.2 and install it long enough to upgrade my drive so it will read the 10.4 install. Big problem is that I'm relatively new in the area and don't know many Mac Owners.
I guess I should have ordered an internal DVD reader. So many of the DVD readers will only operated with G4's and higher these days that I just ordered the first one I found that actually claimed to work on a G3. -

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.

I loaded cleartune a while back, there are upgrades/updates available, which I'm trying to load. When I choose update, it asks for my password, which I provide and I get a message saying "cannot connect to Itunes store" I have many other apps I've loaded and upgraded just fine. However this one, the one I actually wanted bad enough to pay for, is wanting me to delete it and buy another copy. How can I update Cleartune without buying it again?

This is a very interesting situation. I did try to update one of my apps within itunes as was suggested. That worked !!
But then I noticed that I had 2 different logins that I must have created over the years. I almost forgot. I have a apple ID and an AOL ID. It seems that I purchased (actually they are all free) some apps with one ID and other apps with the other ID. I must have done this by accident.
So when I log out of one of the IDs on my Touch and then log in with the other ID, I can update the apps.
It seems that something changed on Apple's servers. It seems that until recently I was able to update free apps regardless of what ID I originally bought them with. Now it seems that's not the case. Apple must check this now.
Now that I know what the issue is, I'll make sure I use one ID all the time.

Using a Report Filter without giving users access to "Design" mode
I have a report in which I use the filter bar to provide my end users the ability to use a drop down menu to switch between different months worth of data. However, I have been asked to disable the ability for users to access the Design mode. I have been unable to come up with the right security settings to allow the report filter while disabling the Design mode. Does anyone have any suggestions to this problem?

I want to upgrade to the new Firefox 4 from my Firefox 3. But I don't want to lose my settings, tags and bookmarks that I have now. So my question is: Can I upgrade without losing these ?
Please Help !Firefox 4 will by default use the same profile folder (location where bookmarks, passwords etc are stored) as previously installed versions. You will not lose your user data by upgrading.

It does however make the usual start up sounds, without any display, when I start it up. When in this mode the caps lock will not illuminate when depressed. Apple support has suggested that a software upgrade may be the problem. How can I upgrade without a screen ?

TerryThere are no updates for CS3 to work with Windows 8.1. Having said that, I'd expect it to just work anyway. Unlike Mac OS, the Windows OS is extremely compatible with older software. It's a very rare occurrence when an older program just won't run.
This may actually be one of the biggest flaws with Windows. It's so ubiquitous that complete overhauls under the hood would break too many programs, and so we never get a truly revolutionary upgrade (like the complete removal of the registry, one of the worst ideas ever implemented in an OS). -
How can i see when someone has accessed my call/text log. (This is possible on google/gmail) I have been informed that someone has accessed my activity log and is giving my information to a third party. I believe it is a service tech, but I am not interested in persuing that further. I just need to see when my account has been accessed if possible.
