Can't upload individual files into ITunes.

I click Add to library and go to a folder. I used to be able to double click on the folder to expand it and add an individual file from within. Now the whole folder gets uploaded. Now to add individual files from a folder, I have to first drag the file elsewhere, like my desktop, and add it to the library from there.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
You can still add individual tracks by selecting add to library, chose folder then track.

  • Can't upload .mov files to iTunes anymore

Hi!  I don't know if this just started when I upgraded to Lion and did all of the recent updates to iTunes, and added iCloud, etc, but suddenly I can't drag .mov files into iTunes like I used to be able to do. I can't add them with the Add To Library menu either. Because of this I can't put them on my iPad. Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there a fix?  TIA!

Actually, I can't open anything in quicktime anymore. I've tried opening avis, mov, mp4 and m4a files... all give the same error message and number. I've reinstalled both qt and itunes but no luck.

  • Can't import .m4r file into iTunes 10.0.6.40

Hi. I have a new iPhone 4S with AT&T (first iPhone ever!) and I'd like to create a custom ringtone. I have an .m4r file that is 29 sec long. I'd like to use it as my ringtone. Should be easy enough, right? I've tried dragging and dropping my file into iTunes, and also tried importing it through the menu, but it won't import. I can double click on it and play it in iTunes, but it doesn't import it into the library. Also, I have no RingTones folder. Do I need to create one somehow, and how would that work?
    Thanks!

Okay, I wrote up a tutorial on what I did to make my own custom ringtones so that other newbies don't get confused.

  • I can't import mp3 files into iTunes

Just recently, I find that I can't drag/drop (or import) .mp3 files into iTunes (12.1.0.50).
I did confirm that the files aren't locked.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

No mp3 files from any source, including iTunes itself, or just some particular batch of mp3s files from some unspecified source?  It isn't unusual for some encoders to produce mp3s that are not compliant with iTunes.  You can try using the application MP3 Scan+Repair (http://triq.net/mac/mp3-validator-mac-os-x) to fix them but sometimes you have to re-encode them.  Try playing with Quicktime Player instead and report if it will play the files.
Oh, it also isn't unusual that files do not have labels built in.  They are adding to iTunes but not ending up where you expect them to be.

  • How to upload music files into iTunes, iCloud

How do I upload music & other files (like photos) into iTunes, iCloud & iphone 4S?  I restored my phone yesterday & had to upgrade to iTunes 11.0.2 from 10, as prompted by the system.  Pls help as I am a novice in iphones & family

You cannot upload music files from your iPhone, but you could sign up for iTunes Match and use it to match your existing music with iTunes so that you can download it right from your device. See more information for Apple's iTunes Match: https://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

  • I can't import cda files into itunes from a disc

I have a disc of 7 audio tracks that were recorded on a Mac and burned onto a CD using itunes. I was given this disc but I can only get the audio files to play on a PC. I have tried all methods of importing/copying into iTunes but it doesn't work - iTunes can't see the files. Please can you help?

  • Can't import mp4 file into iTunes

I have had a lot of success converting my DVDs to mp4s and storing them on external hard drives to play through AppleTV (I love AppleTV!). However I have a couple of files that will not load into iTunes. I get no error message but when I try to open with Quicktime I get an error message saying the file is not a movie file. The files I am having problems with were recorded from cable tv and written to DVD. Please help...

HOCKEY PUCK! Looks like this isn't a solution anyway. Tried it on a 250 MB file with 7 chapter markers and got some very random results.
    1) Clipped the previously embeded graphic from the iTunes file and applied the same workflow. This time it did not save the chapter track (just like it does in MPEG Streamclip).
    2) A bit confused, I deleted the newly created file and tried again only without clipping the graphic first. This time when I attempted to open the newly created file there was not video track whatsoever.
    3) Now I'm getting really confused. So I delete the new "audio" file and load the source file one more time. This time, instead of relying on the the "current default" options (i.e., the ones last used), I open the options window and find the "Pass through" has reset to "None." So I attempt to change it back to "Pass through" and guess what... Now that option is "grayed out" just as you say (and as I believe it used to be in QT v7.1.3).
    4) Totally flabbergasted, I close the player and load a secondary file (paired TV episode to the first file) and open the "Movie to MPEG-4" Export option. To my surprise, the audio and video "Pass through" settings are back again. Okay, so this time I decide to "tic" the chapter track to see if that will prevent it's loss. No joy!
Basically, I spend a few more wasted hours trying to figure out why I could not duplicate my original success. I even drag out other applications like SimpleMovieX and MPEG Streamclip which have "Save As..." options to "compatible" containers. Both delete the chapter track just as QT Pro is currently doing. Suffice it to say I'm growing angrier by the moment and finally decide to quit so I can update the latest results here. Sorry everyone... Really thought the latest QT upgrade had someting going for itself here. Looks like I merely "jumped the gun" instead.

  • How can I import .wma files into iTunes???

I have a GPX MP3 player and most of my files are .wma format. When I tried to import or open these files in iTunes, nothing happened. I'm wondering how I can import the .wma files or convert them so I can listen/import them into my library. Thanks.

You can do it on iTunes Windows or get a converter such as EasyWMA - www.easywma.com.

  • Why can't I import files into iTunes from my computer?

I can't import a file but i've tried every method of adding file to library and drag and drop and nothing has worked. I have the lastest version of iTunes.

Am I correct in saying that the file is on your computer? Is it in a format that iTunes recognises?
If so, open iTunes, click on the small icon in the top left of the iTunes window and select Add File to Library. Navigate to the folder where the file is located and select it, click on Open. The song is now in your Library, but don't forget that the song's title, artist etc. will reflect the information within the file. So if the file did not have a song title or artist, it will appear in your iTunes as something like "Track 01", by "Unknown Artist".

  • How can I import .avi file into iTunes?

I have a bunch of videos, that I can not live with out. They are al in .AVI form. How can I get these into iTunes for watching? Do I need to use Quicktime Pro?

You use MPEG Streamclip to convert them to MPEG-4 and import those. This may require Perian or not be possible.

  • Can't import WAV files into iTunes

I have ripped most of my music to WAV files but iTunes refuses to import them. Neither the add folder function, the add file function, nor the drag and drop will add them. It does absolutely nothing.
Anybody know how to get around this problem?

It's not altering the file. It's simply playing back different.
    iTunes prefs -> Playback.
Untick Sound Check, Sound Enhancer and Cross Fade playback.
Go to menu View -> Show Equalizer and set it to Off.

  • Can't import folder / files into iTunes

I am trying to import a folder into my iTunes library. I use the File> Add Folder to Library option, navigate to and select the folder, and no songs are added to the library. The song files are .m4a format.
I am a pretty new iTunes/iPod user. If I could figure out how to search on this forum, someone else probably has already asked this qeustion, but it is not obvious to me how to search.
    Thanks for any help.

How many files are in the folder? Can you add just one of the files using Add File to library?

  • Can i upload ipod music into itunes library?

I want to put my ipod music back into the itunes library, and i dont know how. Is there any way to copy and paste, cuz it doesnt seem to be working..I want to upload the ipod music into the library so i can put the music onto my cell.
well i hope i can get some help, cause its frustrating me.

Syncing between iTunes and iPod is intended to be one-way: from iTunes to iPod. The exception, with recent versions of iTunes, is that content purchased from the iTMS can be copied from iPod back to iTunes.
There are (nearly) countless third-party utilities for recovering music and other content from iPods, however, so perhaps you should have a look around the Internet for something that meets your needs.

  • I can't import aiff files into itunes as mp3s

I am trying to add some aiff files from an external hard drive to my itunes library. My import settings have mp3 checked under the advanced preferences and I am using the File>add to library command. When the files show up in my itunes library, they are still aiff files. I can then convert them to mp3 under the advanced tab, but I shouldn't have to go through this extra step. Is there a way to change this?

No. If you add MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, AIFF or WAV, iTunes will simply add them to the library.
In order to convert them, you have to do it after you add them to the library.

  • Can't import .amr files into iTunes

I am a nursing student and rely on my iPod to listen to lectures I have recorded with my Livescribe pen.
I did not have my pen one day and used my HTC Evo to record lecture. It records audio as .amr files. iTunes will not import that type of file.
How can I convert those .amr files so I can get them on my iPod?

You will need a 3rd party converter.
    Here's one -> http://www.amrtomp3converter.com/
(I haven't tried it so I cannot comment on it)
